My orthopedic surgeon from HSS had told me to be careful as that leg with the metal plates is more vulnerable to infection. So when I thought I was getting an ingrown toenail I thought I was being proactive and researched and found Dr Newmark who had positive reviews. I made an appointment for that very day. That perhaps should have been my first warning. That he had an available appointment immediately. His bedside manner is very nice and due to his positive reviews I felt at ease. However as he was cutting (just a little of the toenail in his words) he cut my toe quite deeply. I couldn't believe it. When I got home and evaluated it more closely I was so upset. I called him and asked him for oral antibiotics to prevent an infection in that leg with the metal plates. But first he said are you sure I cut you and that it is not the Betadine? First of all I know he knows he cut me as in the office he hid it from me with his hand blocking my view of the bleeding so that was completely disingenuous. Second of all I am in the healthcare profession myself and I know blood when I see it but even a child would have realized this was blood and not Betadine. Third of all the pain from this cut was and is intense. I wasn't going to post a review as I don't like posting anything negative and I also think he is a nice person. However nice doesn't make it OK and this could be a serious complication for me and I am so worried. I don't want anyone else to make a similar mistake and that is why I decided to share my experience. I showed the photos to a good friend who is a podiatrist and who had been cutting my nails for me the last 3 years since my accident and never once cut my toe. The only reason I didn't see her this time is she is away and I was being proactive. What a mistake on my part. Anyway my podiatrist friend said and I quote " I don't like saying anything bad about other doctors but this is inexcusable" I am also quite concerned about his sterilization methods and I pray his instruments were autoclaved. In hindsight I am very worried as the office (and again this is in hindsight and you know hindsight is always 20/20) didn't seem all that clean. Ugh so sorry to have to share this experience but I couldn't live with the thought I didn't share in order to prevent someone else from dealing with this. I hope this doctor learns something from this experience and goes on to be more careful with others. I told him all about my surgery and metal plates in that leg and still this is what he did to me. Good: - Weekend hours and willing to accommodate your schedule - They are budget conscious if your insurance sucks Bad: - The receptionist is nice in person but not so nice over the phone and seemed a bit incompetent. - The office is dirty and seriously out of date. They made me stand to get an xray of my foot. The whole reason I was there was because I couldn't stand. -To get to this office there are stairs or a non- ADA compliant ramp. Why is a doctor's office that treats foot problems not accessible?! - I left in more pain than when I came in and ended up getting a second opinion elsewhere.

I then waited for an hour to be seen only for the receptionist to be extremely rude to me. I was eventually taken into one of the rooms only to wait another 45 minutes - I literally had to come out and check multiple times and each time the receptionist gave me attitude. The doctor saw me for 30 minutes and then sent me somewhere else to get tests done. When I called to make a follow up appointment the receptionist said the doctor would be out of the office for over two weeks, mind you I can't walk right now until he sees me again. Then a few days later I find an appointment with a different doctor in that office and book it. When I show up no one is there and they don't answer the phone for 20 minutes where I finally connect with someone she stella me that the doctor decided he wanted to leave early for the day and I could come back another time if I wanted.

He put In a order for orthopedics. I told the front lady about it. She like great I'll give your insurance a call today meaning on the 18th but that didn't happen! Weeks go by my feet are hurting and my knees are starting to cave-in. I called the office November 5th One of the ladies take a message and said she'll leave a note and have her call me back When she arrives at 2 PM I didn't get that phone call! So I called my insurance to see if the order was put in. Nope! no order put in. so I called back the next day November6 now this receptionist said oh she only works on Friday! The office is small, but the warmth and friendliness of the staff makes it a great fit! Dr. Carlton is a very good doctor. I explained my issue and not only was he informative, he was friendly and remedied the pain instantly. What I especially appreciated during my visit with Dr. Carlton is that he explained the root of where the pain came from and why. Really disappointed in this place because I wanted to support it. I caught a foot condition from…read morebeing barefoot in a martial arts class and it was very clear what the condition was once I did some research (there was a guy in class with terrible-smelling feet that overwhelmed the entire room.) I asked for a test and oral medicine to ensure the condition didn't spread and was eradicated completely. The doctor denied both the test and the medicine and suggested the OTCs I was already using because she "didn't see anything". Meanwhile my feet were getting burning sensations that only started AFTER the class where I was barefoot. I never had that before in my life. The condition went away then came back and I AGAIN contacted this office asking for oral medication or, at least, a test so that I couldn't be denied the oral medication I wanted. Again, both were denied and the doctor prescribed a topical medication that didn't work. So, suffice it to say, I won't be returning to this office. I've spent more money and been exposed to way more medication-toxins than I would have been if the office had just honored my original request.

First off they are spacing out the appointments and completely complying with mask wearing and social distancing. I mention this because many other places aren't doing such a great job. This was very important to me as my mom was coming here too! No worries here and Kudos to Dr. Einhorn and the staff! I was very impressed with Dr. Jill's thoroughness. She very gently removed all my callouses and asked me every step of the way if she was hurting me. Nothing she did hurt.
