I haven't been so impressed by a restaurant for a long time! We went in on a whim looking for Brazilian/Portugese in Bridgeport and was immediately greeted by a friendly server. The a la carte menu is in Portugese and it looks like most patrons eating there do speak the language so it's probably authentic? The buffet had an assortment of delicacies and you can pick and choose whatever you want (priced per plate, not totally sure the full pricing structure but the small to go box was $10 and I think the medium was $14?), so we got to try some tasty pork bean stew with bacon & tripe, ribs, etc. Regret not trying the chicken dishes too as they look great. Staff was friendly, welcoming and very helpful when we asked what was in each dish. Would most definitely come back again! read more

This is my second time here, and first time for dinner. For lunch I had the fried fillet of cod with bacalao with potatoes, onions and it was really good. Now I ordered the grilled octopus and came with batatas ao murro, sautée broccoli rabe and all drizzled with lots of olive oil and thin fried garlic slices, and it was amazing! Simple and amazing! Now the fish - Pescada com todos ( Fish with all others) was a little bland but it was good, all very healthy, again simple and very typical Portuguese food! read more

If you are In the mood for terrible service and a stark attitude from the waitress when asked why we've been waiting over 40mins for the meal in an empty restaurant; this is your place! Was my first experience to try Portuguese food but after this encounter (we walked out of the place) I think I'll go to other, better tasting cuisines and a place with trained wait-staff. read more

The food was out of this world and mouth watering, bringing me back to my vacation in Portugal a few years back! What a great addition to the neighborhood with real authentic meals. You can tell all the ingredients are very fresh and a lot of thought is put into the menu, including the daily specials. We have even come back for takeout orders when we couldn't make it to the restaurant to satisfy our craving! While the wait for the food was unusually long it was so well worth it. Restaurant was very spanking clean as was the bathroom, although I almost slipped and fell on my way to the bathroom (with rubber casual shoes mine you) because of what appeared to be a recently mopped floor without the "Wet Floor" warning sign. A lot of locals, Portuguese, eat here and know each other as they walk in & greet each other. Parking can be difficult if you're looking for parking on the main road so be patient and don't give up too soon before resorting to parking on the side streets and your efforts will pay off. I had the sauté codfish, a typical Portuguese dish serve with boiled red potatoes, Broccoli with olive oil dressing and my wife had the Bronzino fish with boiled broccoli, carrots, russet potatoes and olive oil. Both tasted very fresh, served very hot off the stove and an excellent value for the price, $17 & $18 respectively. I also ordered a glass of red wine, as recommended because Portuguese drink red wine with everything including fish and I drank and enjoyed all of it. As the wine "aired out" it took on a miraculously real fruity pleasantly sweet taste. We shared a flan that was very light in texture and sugar. I think it needed a little more body (creamier) and a little more sweetener (not much more). My wife and I had black Coffee (with no sugar or milk) and thought it was most flavorful, fresh and "sweet" without any acidic or bitter overtones. My only very small suggestion on what I think could be improved, which is not a lot, is that the bread should have been served warm because it was spongy cold and they should go light and easy on the olive oil dressing that is served on the veggies served with the cod fish or, better yet, serve the dish without the olive oil and allow the patron the opportunity to serve him or herself the amount of olive oil he or she prefers over the veggies, since the olive oil is also served with the meal; the counter argument may be that this is how typical Portuguese dishes are served but as a practical matter, just as Puerto Rican boiled root vegetables that are typically also served with olive oil, the option may similarly remain to allow a patron to pour the amount of olive oil preferred on the veggies without sacrificing the quality OR presentation of the dish. I would consider returning back because the food overall was very good, fresh and true to its ethnic tradition. read more

This place has 5 stars in every way! The service is excellent, everyone is very friendly and super attentive. The food is absolutely phenomenal. I had the goat, potatoes, and rice and it was so soft, and fell right off the bone! The rice with the gravy from the goat was perfect! For the appetizer I had garlic shrimp was to die for. Just had the most wonderful meal with my wife, hosted by the gracious owner Paul and his server Rui. Started with a Portugal Beer and Portugal wine. perfect. After consulting with Paul, decided on the NY strip served rare on a heated stone that allowed us to cook our meat to our liking. The protein was served with a traditional garlic and oil sauce that was light and delicious and sea salt. What else could you ask for. Second course was a grilled Branzino halved and plated for 2 served with broccoli rabe and boiled potatoes. My wife was so happy because it was perfect. Third course the grilled marinated octopus which was tender and delicious. Dessert was Portuguese grappa and port wine and their homemade pudding cake. Picked up a tray of bacalhou a bras and it was amazing. I have ordered from here on server occasions over the years. Usually I remember too late to get a food order in around the holidays. This year I called a few days ahead of time and got my order in. Food was ready when I requested and they called to let me know also. Everything was delicious, super fresh.
