I have come to this location a few different times. Everyone is always really nice but I think a lot of people were having a bad day today. A lot of the staff kind of avoided the patience. I was early for my appointment and then I was late being seen. They then put me in a room in the back for a long time and I only talked to the doctor a few minutes. I have been a patient here for a few years but have had a very negative experience lately. I called on a Monday after starting to feel sick. I have a new baby so staying healthy, and getting treatment quickly is top of mind. They did not answer but I left a message. I did not receive a call back. On Tuesday morning I felt worse and called again. No answer. Left a message. On Tuesday afternoon I called again. No answer. Left a message. I ended up calling the nurse line as I was desperate with a 103° fever. No answer BUT I at least got a call back. They said "sorry we can't help you today" I asked for an appointment tomorrow and they said "you have to call in the morning to get an appointment for same day" WHAT? I have been trying to get help from my doctor for 2 days!!! My husband ended up calling the second they opened on Wednesday because I was too sick. He luckily got someone to answer but they couldn't see me until 3:40pm. That was over 48hours since I originally called to get an appointment. The appointment was fine. I saw Heather and she was nice and caring. I liked Heather she is the only good part of this story and the only reason I didn't give 0 stars! I have strep and the flu. Of course with 2 major illnesses questions and stuff come up so I had to call the nurses line the next day as I was unable to eat or drink. I called 3 times before I got a response. I tried to message on the online portal to see if it was faster. A doctor named Stephanie whom I have never met responded to me very rudely. Keep in mind I am NOT a doctor. I don't know anything about these things so I'm asking questions. Stephanie responded to me like I was very dumb, and annoying for asking questions. Excellent care, welcoming employees, and a variety of services available. I love being able to visit one place and get everything I need done whether it be a sick visit, physical, mole removal, vaccination, pap smear, etc. Appointments are easy to schedule over the phone or online. Plus it is easy to communicate with your provider, request refills, and view tests results in the online portal. I have received care at Avance Care for years at various locations. Each location has great staff who provide clear communication. Main two issues I have is that even though their hours are listed as 7:30 am- 7 pm on weekdays, if you arrive after 5 pm there is an after hours charge of $50. Sometimes this is covered by insurance but not always. I was not informed of this when scheduling the visit. I did learn of this charge when filling out the pre-appointment paperwork. The other issue I have is that it can be challenging to reach the Garner office by phone. Some days I am connected right away. Other days I have to call multiple times and even if I leave a message I do not receive a return phone call. Nonetheless, I appreciate the care I received at Avance Care and recommend this primary care to others. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this practice. To be frank... all the negative reviews make me wonder where these people went... certainly not Avance Care in Garner, NC. Relocating from the Midwest and searching for a great practice was difficult till I happened to get referred by a past colleague of mine. I have gone to this same office for over 5 years and have never once had a bad experience... I don't find that a coincidence or that I'm one of the lucky few. I've been seeing Amanda for years and can't express how incredible her bedside manner is. She's beyond empathetic and listens without rushing you or making you feel anyway but important. My health in all areas has improved since seeing her and the lovely staff. Never a billing complaint, nor any other complaint, EVER! The staff is warm, kind, and most of all professional-which is the icing on the cake. I understand there are "unforeseen occurrences" or occasional "mishaps" in any business, but to say anything BUT positive things about Avance Care seems to be more of a personality flaw and/or "waking up on the wrong side of the bed" matter than anything else. This will always be my family's and my primary care practice... once you make an appointment - you'll see first hand why this practice has been open for so long. I just wish I had done a review years ago... but I hate doing reviews... but that'll have to change as most people don't submit a review unless they have a beef... and that's a TRUE shame! Amanda is my primary care provider. I have been going there since 2015. I like the truth; don't stroke my ego, don't beat around the bush, be straight: well Amanda is just that. I started out with a high A1C then she told me the truth. Lol. My A1C has been under 6.5 since then. The office is always professional and clean. The employees are personable and helpful. All of the care providers I have dealt with have been helpful and thorough (Stephanie and Daniel). I have not had any issues with billing, if I missed an appt I was charged $35 - and rightfully so! If you are mature and need a primary care provider and you want to be treated well, go to Avance Care. And follow their recommendations! read more

Our long time primary care physician recently transferred from Duke to this small clinic. Sadly and infuriating billing office policies require patients to pay upfront for care without honoring your insurance network agreements. It is illegal for a practice regardless of their "policy" to demand upfront payment or place a credit card on file (which is absurd, fiscally irresponsible and potentially fraudulent) disrepecting insurance network negotiated rates, which is what this practice routinely does. The front desk attendant was disrespectful and defiantly stated that "we could do whatever we wanted" in regard to filing a complaint. That "we've been in business 10 years" and we "didn't matter"! The attitude is completely disrespectful of patient care. We will be following up with both the insurance, state board of health and its headquarters. Highly recommend seeking care elsewhere. In reply, respectfully disagree as you like. The arrogant tenor of your reply is transparent enough to confirm our experience with your practice. The complete disregard in remark or concern for the disrespectful attitude with which your employee treated us also speaks to the level of disregard for patient care. We have NOT experienced other healthcare providers treating us in such manner, nor have we experienced providers demand credit cards on file or deposits for routine well checks, especially well checks 100% covered in network. Even if a physician provides excellent care, the way in which your administrative staff treat your patients is extension of care. Any attitude or disrespect ultimately clouds the trustworthiness of a practice. Thankfully there are providers, unlike yourselves, that do care about the total patient experience and make every effort to respect basic human rights. read more

I have been with Avance Primary Care at the Garner location for less than a year. Lindsay Palmeri and her team have been supportive and informative about my care since day one. Every call I have made to the office was returned within a reasonable time and a solution to my question(s) was given. Lindsay sat with me during the tough times and informed me that making a few adjustments and following her medical recommendations would bring about the results I wanted. I am happy to report that I am much better and owe so much to Lindsay and her team of professionals. Although the gentleman at the front desk was nice -something needs to be said about the clinical staff refusing to see patients that are on time. Scheduled appointment for 5pm on Friday, they call and rescheduled us for 5pm on the next Monday to ask us to try to get there by 4:30. We get there closer to 5 due to traffic issues but our paperwork was submitted prior to appointment. They wouldn't see us even though we were on time for actual appointment and paperwork was done. If we wanted a 4:30 appointment, we would have scheduled for 4:30 but we scheduled at 5pm. They did offer to reschedule us, but if that's how they treat new patients- I hate to know how they treat established patents(if they actually have any established patients). (Side note: I work in the medical field as a medical office manager so I know this policy is absurd) read more

After a review of my bill during my physical I found an additional office charge. When this was questioned the accounting team sent it to the office manager that sent it to the provider who advised I was being billed for this due to asking me "How I was doing" and me answering. So basically Avance was able to charge for my full physical and then an additional office visit due to the Stephenie Brinson, FNP-C - Avance Care Asking this questions. I just started going to Avance Primary Care in Garner, and I love it! Amanda is so awesome! I've been looking for several months for just the right provider, and I found her! She is a Godsend! She listened intently and showed she cared about my health and well-being. If you're looking for someone to take real interest in you, the person, Amanda is the one for you! You will NOT be disappointed. The front staff was wonderful, also! Just had to give an update! This place is horrible! I wasn't treated for my sinus infection properly by Bella and had to cancel my surgery. It's a long story, but she said I had a cold and the surgery would go as planned. Got to the hospital, and after a breathing treatment, the anesthesiologist said it was a "no go" because I was too sick. Then, when I had to go back to Avance to get treated for my sinus and upper respiratory infection, Dr. Haake gave me medication that did make me well. She was great! However, I received the bill and was charged an injection fee and an injection medication. Both, of which, I never received. It took many phone calls to the office manager to stop being billed for it. Now, I wonder?? Did they bill the insurance company for something I didn't get? Isn't this insurance fraud? read more
