Measurements done and custom fitted shutters installed, the whole process took about 15 days. I joked with my husband, if Memorial Day had not just happened this likely would have taken only 2 weeks. The Install of 15 shutters took about 4 hours including inspection and cleanup. Couldn't have been a better experience. Home Depot arraigned an estimate using Avalon Shutters Co Gary our estimator, was very professional and helpful in going through our shutter choices. We had two bedroom windows and one large living room installed. Since that window was so large it was recommended that we go with 4 panels instead of two large ones. A excellent choice. It only took Avalon a week and a half to manufacture the shutters, which was half the time estimated. A nice surprise. They are well built and elegant. We started out looking at shutters at our local Home Depot store. After explaining what we were looking for to the highly knowledgeable sales associate, she recommended going with Avalon. There was a 25% promotion going on at the time and we had a coupon for 2 years, 0% financing on our Home Depot card. The associate put in the request for a home consultation with Avalon and we were called the next day. The salesperson came out and showed us samples and measured our windows and sliders so he could give us a quote the next day. He came back out again so we could look at the wood colors to make sure we could make our decision. We signed the order and a rep came out a few days later to do a formal measure. It only took about 2 1/2 weeks for the production and we had them installed just after Christmas (super fast in my opinion). Israel and his assistant carefully unwrapped all the pieces. We had 3 windows and a 3 panel slider on 2 tracks. You could tell that Israel has been doing this a long time (he told me 20 yrs!). Everything fit perfectly. The installation took about 2 hours. Israel explained how we should open the shutters and care for them. My wife and I are very pleased with the workmanship and installation. We installed three shutters and after 2 years we asked Avalon Shutters to schedule a technician to remove 2 shutters in bedroom so we could replace windows and then they reinstalled shutters. The removal and reinstallation was not done properly that the shutters was not closing properly and because of that, the shutters were damaged. We called for inspection and fixing damages. After inspection, Avalon detriment that the damages is due to water. That is completely not true. Beside the fact that we live by the beach and there are a moister weather at all times, however we have the same shutters in almost 15 other condos in the same building. Damages very clear is not a water damages at all. The damages appears to be from insufficient installations. Looking into my records, it shows that I hired Avalon Shutters to remove the shutters in order to replace both bedrooms windows. Avalon Shutters were hired to remove and reinstall shutters after window was replaced. They were paid $300 for that job. Damages looks like shutters were not closing properly and panels were hitting due to use. Please see pictures. The statement from Avalon Shutters that they offered to replace both bedrooms is correct however, I will pay for the costs. That is no compensation. Avalon shutters should replace both bedroom shutters and indoor the costs. read more

I was quite disappointed with the product and customer service. They came out THREE times to install the shutters because they got measures wrong TWICE! Once they finally got the measurements correct, they came out to install the shutters. They are flimsy and honestly look cheap. Had I known this was going to be the final result, I would have simply asked for a refund. Instead, I made the mistake of accepting the $600 reimbursement for their inability to take proper measurements, twice... Flaps are flimsy and don't stay in place. No matter how you try to arrange them, they just keep moving out of place. Also, original agreement was that the shutter would cover the window frame, as you can see, it doesn't. To whomever it may concern I spoke with one of the ladies today in the scheduling department and insisted that the original appointment and measurements took place on the 29th of November, clearly on the attached document you can see that ential measurements were 3 weeks prior.  In addition when I contacted by your department last week to schedule today's appointment she clearly stated that she had availability to Install on Monday Dec 4th between 11-1pm. Now come to find out that is not how the process works and today's appointment is actually a secondary measurement before production to begin with the Shutters. Also informed it will take 3-4 business to produce and then install would be set at an appropriate time and date thereafter.  I say all this to note that Naomi did not inform me of this process when scheduling and then this morning when Erin I believe called, she was rude over the phone, spoke over me and acted like I was supposed to know your procedures and protocols as a company. Me being in customer service industries for 20+ years I will say her attitude and manner is completely unprofessional and exspect that this would be addressed.  Hopefully the production and install goes smoother than this so far considering I've already paid them the $2480 for the 2 shutters read more

These shutters are not cheap so I expected better service when it came to dealing with the warranty side when the shutters started falling apart and becoming discolored even with very little use. I had a disappointing experience with both the warranty and customer service. When I encountered an issue with my shutters, I reached out for assistance, only to be met with long delays and unhelpful responses. The "lifetime" warranty coverage was not as comprehensive as I had hoped, and they made the process unnecessarily complicated. Despite following all the necessary steps, I had to deal with frustrating back-and-forth communication and little support. Overall, I was very disappointed in how they handled the situation, and I wouldn't rely on their warranty or customer service in the future. read more

Do not use this company! They took 2 days to measure our windows & 1 door. I spent 2 days preping my windows, removing the valences & blinds + patching. 2 weeks went by then the installers showed up. After an hour they called me down from my office. 2 of the larger windows were designed wrong! One window was measured wrong! (Really?) I called and left a message to the sales rep but never received a call back! I would never recommend this company. Paying 8K for a job and this is the service we get? It took us forever to finally purchase the shutters but Graceland never pressured us but would check in every now and then to let us know she was still there for us. I found Avalon Shutters through Home Depot and had a great end-to-end experience. This project started in mid-Jan and completed 6 weeks later as promised. My consultant was Kyle S. He came on a Friday afternoon around 1 and didn't finish until 6pm. He took time to explain the differences in products (wood (standard and premium) vs. composite wood), designs, and measure. In our kitchen, we have granite back splash that goes up to about couple of feet to the bottom of the window. Kyle had a very clever solution to solve this problem when other companies either persuaded me not to put shutters on that window or some other solutions that involved cutting the backsplash. I am very happy with how it turned out! Communication before the install date was excellent. Customer service dept emailed and called to schedule the install appointment, confirm appointment a few days before the appointment and was very clear about our responsibility to move furniture and create a clear space for the installer. Our install team was Israel and Roger. They worked very efficiently and was done in a couple of hours. They are pros! We had 6 windows (two with arches) and a set of French door. There were no issues with the install. I didn't inspect the shutters before installation but Israel told me that their factory inspected them before sending them out. I looked at them afterwards and they were fine. I am happy with the quality and all the shutters open and shut properly. On the arched windows and French door, there needs to be a fixed louver for support. Essentially, it's kind of like two sections (top and bottom). Kyle worked with me to place this louver at an ideal height to make it look perfect. For the French door, it was placed near the bottom so when the shutters are open, it's a clear view at eye-level. I am very happy with his suggestions. Price was ok, not the cheapest but they were reliable and delivered what I ordered/paid for on-time. It was at the top range of my budget and I chose to remove existing window coverings and move furniture myself to stay within budget.
