When calling for an appointment, they ALWAYS tell you they can get you in, whether they can or not. Then you arrive, and they make you wait, and wait, and wait. No technicians are available and there's absolutely no effort to honor your appointment. Happens EVERY TIME. Today I waited 30 minutes past my appointment time, still nobody available to do my pedi, so I left. Drove around the corner to another salon and was getting my pedi 5 minutes later. Amazing Nail Salon! I came here on Mother's Day, and it was packed. I didn't wait too long before I was serviced for my Pedicure. The Nail Tech did a very thorough job on my feet. Had more polish on me than my nails. Uneven lumpy nails. One nail is so thick I may never get it all off. Will not be back. They wouldn't put tips on my daughter like she ask. They separated us and charged her 100 for powder. Ridiculous. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. poor customer service, went to get my brows done and the lady I got clearly didn't know what she was doing because one of my brows were thinner than the rest. These people are sooooo pushy and are more focused on hurrying up to get people out the door than taking their time to make sure it's actually done correctly! So I asked for the nails in the picture and the nail tech first told me that he couldn't do that many colors so I was like okay whatever, just do pink. and the lines don't even touch on most of the nails and I kept telling him to fix is and he would and it would do nothing. ALSO, on my index finger, there was a huge gel bubble from the top coat that I had to make him file down and it looks funky still. People say they're not that bad but I hate them. Just in case anyone needs to know about my Avalon Nail experience. Since I have moved to lake charles (6 years ago) I have used them. Beings that I was in dental hygiene school I was not able to get them done but for vacations I would. So I would still consider myself a returning customer. I will no longer be a returning customer nor step foot near there again. I've had plenty of bad experiences at local places around lake charles but I never wanted to bash anyone or single them out. Humans make mistakes and I give chances but this is completely unacceptable. Terrible. Thats two hours after the service. Regular manicure. Cuticles sticking out. Uneven color. Pushy service because she kept on telling me to get gel when i didnt want to get it. This is why i didnt get gel! She couldnt even color properly! And this is a $16 manicure?! With a 10 seconds total of massage on my hands. Lol. This is three coats by the way thats why it took forever to dry. She had to put three coats to even it out but she did a terrible job. read more

The only reason I'm giving three stars is because my pedicure was amazing and Kelly was the sweetest . That being said the wait was terrible. After said pedicure i was put back in the lobby to wait for another nail tech. I had changed my mind about getting a full set to only getting a manicure due to the wait time. When i let the guy up front know he tried to talk me out of the change and suddenly I was placed in a chair where I was not even spoken to about what shape I want or length. Way over priced for what I received. $92 to sit in silence and have a lady yank my hands across her table so that they were basically in her lap. read more

Just paid for their most expensive pedicure after describing that I wanted a long and relaxing pedicure. 30 minutes later and I'm already having my toes drying now. She did not speak at all, the polish is not applied well. I asked for my toes to be cut very short... they are not... which I should have caught but I'm not used to actually having to monitor my toes being done. I'm going to Florida next week and will probably need to get a polish change when I get back in Houston. So disappointed after being sent her based on recommendations. The staff is not the slightest bit friendly. I was given the rudest look when I asked if she could clean off the sides of my toes with polish remover since she got the polish all over the side. The NU pedicure is advertised for $40 at the front, $42 on the menu, but then they charged me $43.... this place just sucks. Don't waste your money. read more

Friendliness with every staff member i've encountered. I've been going to them since 4th grade and have yet to have a bad experience.

I was staying nearby and needed my nails done. It's been a long time, so I wasn't sure exactly what the new trends were and what I wanted.. I walked in and it was busy. They were very friendly. Tammy took her time in explaining what was new and what was the best for me. It wasn't the most expensive, but just right for me! I had the shellac (sp?) Only 17.00! Took her time and they look beautiful! Will definitely come back when in town! read more

I brought my Mom for a special treat to this salon, and it was the worst pedicure I have ever had. Very rushed. Little to no English, at least that is what they want you to think. For the first time in my life I had the paint chip off one of my toes within an hour. I was in flip flops and was being very careful! I had already left town for the occasion, and now stuck looking for a salon with the same color polish so that I can attempt to fix that one toe. Not happy with the preparation before painting, which would explain the chip.. save your money. read more

Not impressed here at all. My usual place was closed (the one by Que Pasa on Nelson Rd.) so I stopped in for a pedi. The place is extremely claustrophobic -very cluttered with junk, and as many chairs as they can squeeze in. I received way less pedi for way more money than at my usual location. When I asked the gentleman about it, he said they explained that what I was getting was way better and last longer -they didn't, it wasn't and it didn't. And the incense smell was extremely overwhelming, I couldn't wait to leave there because my allergies were going nuts!! I do not recommend this salon. read more

Been going to Avalon for years. The nail techs are friendly and courteous, and get to know you. Kim is my favorite and I always ask for her. She does great quality work and takes her time. The only other tech I've used there is Nee and she does very good work too. The nail polish quality is good, lasts about 2 weeks but could be better. If you're looking for quality in service and friendly people, Avalon is your place but if you're looking for polish to last long, you can use theirs (which lasts about 2 weeks) or consider bringing your own. I'm still a loyal customer though. read more

The pedicure was very good. I have rough heels and the technician smoothed them very well. The leg massage was nice and longer then most. The lights in the salon gave me a headache, though, which kept me from fully enjoying it. The only negative thing is the price. The technician asked if I wanted a particular type of pedi. I did not understand her, she simply pointed to a poster. I said sure, unknowingly agreeing to a $42 pedicure, which is more than I like to spend. I used to love this nail salon, but, after the way they treated my daughters, I will not be back. They have pedicure chairs for little girls, so I brought my 5 and 3 year old. They were so excited! They were both so well behaved, listened, and remained still. My 5 year old had two colors picked out and, when she tried to politely tell the lady what color she wanted on her toes, the lady yelled at her to "keep still." It scared my daughter and she burst into tears! Both workers rushed through their toes and nails, acted annoyed, were not sweet to the girls, and constantly had raised voices telling them not to move, even though they were staying still! My 3 year old was practically frozen for fear of being yelled at...again! What was supposed to be a nice day with my daughters was ruined by this salon's bad attitude and lack of respect. BEWARE he likes to charge for extras that you did not ask for. Use the excuse they did not understand you. Language barrier or pretending not to understand is no reason for charging for something you did not ask for. I told him/her exactly what I wanted and NO more. I will never go back nor will I buy gift cards for employees, family or friends. HE did not care about customer service. It was all about the money or should I say the $7 charge for the sea salt. There are way too many other nail salons that truly care and want to give great customer service. I recommend to STAY AWAY it is not worth your time and more your hard earned money you work for!!!!! read more

It's a good place depending on who you get. The lady that did my nails yesterday was extremely fast, on the sloppy side, and rough. Not to mention she used extremely hot water for my pedicure and I like pretty hot water, just not boiling. The first 2 times I was there, the ladies were good.
