    Malibu sunsets at Avalon.

Had an incredible experience with a loved one at Avalon. Life Changing. They got the loving care that they needed at a very vulnerable time in their life . They are now flourishing and living their best life, whereas when they got there, they were ready to end it all. I am so grateful for the Therapists and the team there. If you have a loved one in need, this is an incredible place. The staff, the amenities, the activities, the food, and the attention to personal needs are very well taken care of. Very private and secure as well. I would recommend this to anyone that wants the best treatment possible for their loved one. It doesn't get any nicer than this place.

Next month, October, I will be four years sober, thanks to everything I learned at Avalon and applied to my every day life. My experience there was beyond stellar, and gave me the tools to turn my life into the productive and fulfilling one I have now. Ronnie Powers was the first person I saw when I got off the plane, and the constant in my life over the past four years. Constantly checking in with me, Ronnie reminds me to stay true to myself and my commitment to sobriety. I am in such a true and honest space, my family relationships are healing, and my personal life is so complete. Anyone looking for help with addiction, trauma, post, traumatic, stress, depression, or anything they believe they need help with Avalon truly knows what they're doing. the techs were amazing and the staff kept us comfortable and our bellies full! Thank you Avalon!

Admissions process, stay, food, therapy modalities, staff, and facilitators are all A+. I took a star off for the experience I had with the MD and discharge related issues. Admissions: Kathryn was awesome! House staff members: The house manager, site managers, client advocates, and chefs were all genuinely kind, helpful, and went out of their way to make me feel comfortable. I am a highly anxious person, even more so in new environments. I felt safe and reassured throughout my entire stay. Danielle is an absolute ray of sunshine and gave the best hugs and pep talks when I needed them the most. I could list all of the other staff members I loved, but it'd literally be everyone. Oh, what the heck. Noreen, Nancy, Bryan, Cary, Pepper, Avery, Ray, Veronica, Iyanna, Doris, Rashi- you guys rock! Primary therapy: While at Seasons, you see your therapist three times a week. I was matched with Dr. Q and feel like I got so lucky! She is positive, brilliant, and really helped me reframe my perspectives on things. I'm really happy I got the opportunity to work with her. Craniosacral therapy: Lisa is wonderful. She is so present and engaged throughout the whole session. After the first cranio session I had with her, I felt so relaxed, dizzy, and lightheaded that Lisa had to help me up to my room! Hypnotherapy: My first two sessions were with Barbara and I instantly liked her. Unfortunately, she got sick and my subsequent sessions were with a different hypnotherapist. The replacement practitioner was very nice, but I didn't feel like our sessions were helpful. The morning of my last day, I was scheduled with Barbara via Zoom. That was our first in depth hypnosis session and I'm not exaggerating when I say it was life changing. Barbara has an amazing gift. Brainspotting: I saw Teri who was great. The first session I got nothing, the second session was better than the first, but the third session incurred a breakthrough! It was difficult, but cathartic and eye opening. Spiritual therapy: I saw Audrey and Christine. They are both spiritual therapists, but their approach is VERY different. I really liked them both. Audrey helped me pull my head out of the sand and call things like they are. It was especially helpful with a past relationship and healing my inner child. Christine has this quiet and gentle presence while still being effective and engaging. She helped me reflect on things and I felt like I was able to be vulnerable with her. Somatic therapy: Lynda helped me rediscover the mind-body connection and I realized how in tune I am with my body if I listen to it. Lynda taught me to turn toward difficult emotions without judgement. I found these sessions to be enlightening and Lynda was such a pleasure to work with. Massage therapy: Arlene is the best! She gave me four of the best massages I've ever had. You can tell she takes pride in her work and works hard to ensure you feel relaxed. Acupuncture/Gua Sha: Rachel is excellent at what she does and she is such a kind person! Group therapy: Group therapy was often run by one of the psychologists and they were all great. My favorite group was art therapy! Ako ran the groups and he is insanely talented. He broke down the paintings step by step and would help you if he saw you struggling. Equine therapy: Very memorable and meaningful experience. Chloe is awesome! Case management: I liked my CM and our meetings were like more therapy. I was told I'd still have three months of case management with her post-discharge and encouraged me to call/text whenever I needed her. Psychiatry: Dr. Lozano was nice and helpful. MD: In short, he refused to give me meds my doctor back home prescribed my first week there, which made me feel like he about my intense and chronic pain. Eventually, he acquiesced, but it was quite frustrating. Discharge/post-discharge: CM set me up with an IOP before I left, but it closed the day after I started. She did not help me find another one. New program could not obtain records from Seasons, delaying me starting by a week. CM stopped replying to me two weeks ago and no one from Seasons has checked on me. It's hurtful.

Some of the meetings they set up for me were so dumb and useless for me! Had nothing to do with why I was there. The staff would lay on the couch with blankets on them as if they were home and watch movies and, during this time they wouldn't address my issues I was having!! The men that worked there were abusive, creepy and unprofessional!! The only people I could trust was Marsha, Dr tregar, and edan! I left early because it became very uncomfortable! Of course I was nervous and a little bit scared to be "checking into treatment" for a month. But after being greeted by Danielle, and the RA's, and going on a tour and being shown around the place, (which is absolutely gorgeous! the photos don't even do it justice!!), I started to feel way more comfortable. Sol doesn't take insurance so I did have to pay cash when I was checking in, but after I left, they gave me a bill that I can submit to my insurance company, and I think my insurance is going to reimburse me for a lot of what I paid. Since I had no idea what to expect, they told me all about what my days would be like: my daily schedule, breakfast, lunch, dinner times, and all that kind of important stuff. While I was checking in and walking around, I met everybody- the Program Director, my therapist, the cook, the cleaning girls, even the gardener, and everybody was so polite and considerate. Since they had several rooms available, I was even given my own choice of which room I wanted! It was a hard choice, every room is beautiful. I settled on the "Sea Room." Every day was new, with a basically endless list of different things to do. One minute I was working with the yoga instructor, or the art therapist, the next I was going to a group meeting, or having a massage. You certainly don't get bored there! I loved having Netflix in my bedroom, that was a treat! I didn't get to spend much time laying around during the daytime, but it was nice to be able to relax and catch up on my shows at night. There were so many things going on, from sound bowls, to art therapy, yoga, Andre the trainer is awesome! He is a very experienced trainer but also like a life coach (I miss you, Andre!). We got to go on some field trips to the beach, and to a ranch for equine therapy (I LOVED this!! Talley and her horses are SO special), and on an incredible hike. They even took a couple of us off campus to go get our nails done, which was also a treat. The doctors overseeing my care were top notch, and made me feel comfortable and safe. Not to mention all the massages, and the acupuncture, and chiropractor Edward, and more vitamin drips than I can remember, whew! I regret that I was't able to use the Cryotherapy Chamber because of my heart condition- it looked so futuristic and everybody seemed to love going in that thing! THE FOOD WAS AMAZING! I was introduced to an entirely new style of eating, and I can proudly say that I stayed on the "plant-based" program the whole time I was there, although I think that if I had asked for it, they would have made me anything I wanted... All the therapists were wonderful, but especially thank you, Dr. Ericka and Dr. Justin, I'm sad I didn't get a chance to say goodbye- you guys really changed my life! And Odette, my therapist- you are such a beautiful soul, but with a heart of a lion. I have so many special memories from Sol, from bonding over football with the RA's who spent late nights with me, checking on me (at all hours, thanks guys!), to the workouts- my kids came to visit me while I was there and told me how much healthier I look, and I can honestly say that now, after having left Sol, I still feel (and look!) like a new person. I was given the chance to try so many cool things and even more importantly, was surrounded by so many cool, caring, and special people who made my days seem to go by almost too quickly. Thank you, everybody at Sol, for saving my life!

If I could give this place negative stars, I would. In my experience, The Pointe Malibu is not a…read morerecovery center--it is a predatory operation hiding behind a facade of luxury and false promises. If you are considering this place for yourself or, worse, a loved one, please, for their safety and well-being: do not send them here. A Luxury Illusion That Disappears on Arrival In my experience, the photos are pure marketing fiction. What's advertised as a serene, high-end recovery center felt more like a low-grade mental institution the moment I arrived. The disconnect between what they sell you and what you get is staggering--and intentional. Health Hazards and Mold Cover-Ups During my stay, there was a serious mold issue that, in my experience, made multiple clients ill. Instead of hiring professionals to remediate it, they literally painted over the mold, sealing in toxins and making it worse. That's not a mistake--that's, in my opinion, a conscious decision to put profit over human safety. Basic Safety Ignored In my room, there wasn't even a smoke detector. This is Malibu--a region devastated by wildfires--and they house vulnerable clients without basic fire safety. In my experience, that level of negligence is horrifying. Unqualified Staff and Power Trips In my experience, the majority of their "therapists" are not fully licensed but associates. The resident assistants were, in my opinion, unqualified and disturbingly eager to exert control over clients rather than provide actual care. This is not a therapeutic environment; it's a toxic one. Gaslighting as Policy Raise a concern, and, in my experience, you are immediately gaslit and dismissed. The ultimate red flag? When I asked to speak with the owners because management was incapable, I was told communication is only allowed "through counsel." What kind of "healing center" refuses to let owners speak to clients except via lawyers? In my opinion, that says everything. Food Unfit for Clients The food was so bad that, in my experience, most clients resorted to DoorDash just to eat. For a facility charging astronomical fees, this was beyond neglect--it was insulting. Predatory Admissions and Broken Promises In my experience, the admissions director Bridget will say absolutely anything to get your money. The moment you arrive and they have it, the promises evaporate, and you see the truth: this place values profit over people and preys on families in crisis. A Plea to Families If you are reading this while considering this facility for someone you love, please listen: In my experience, The Pointe Malibu does not heal--it harms. It does not support--it exploits. There are real recovery centers that value human life over their balance sheet. This is not one of them. Final Verdict: In my experience, The Pointe Malibu is a predatory fraud that endangers the very people it claims to help. For the sake of your own life or the life of someone you care about, run--not walk--away from this place.

I am writing this as the partner of someone who attended The Pointe Malibu, and I can honestly say…read morethat, in my experience, it was the worst decision we have ever made. When he left for treatment, I was hopeful. I believed their polished promises and glossy marketing. I thought I was sending the person I love to a place that would help him heal. What I got back was someone far sicker, both physically and emotionally, than when he left. In my experience, this facility is a danger to anyone who steps inside. My partner came home with ongoing health problems that he never had before. The severe mold issue inside the houses made him ill, along with several other clients, and instead of fixing the problem, they painted over it. That wasn't just negligence; it was, in my opinion, a reckless disregard for human safety. Months later, he is still suffering from the effects of that exposure, fighting to recover his health because of their shortcuts and indifference. What breaks me most is that this place didn't just damage his body; it damaged his spirit. He left more broken than he went in. In my experience, the environment at The Pointe Malibu is toxic, characterized by unqualified staff, gaslighting when clients speak up, and a culture that prioritizes control and profit over genuine care. When my partner asked to speak to the owners because management was failing to address critical concerns, he was told that all communication had to go "through counsel." That, to me, is the clearest sign of what this place really is, a business built on fear and legal shields, not a sanctuary for recovery. The neglect runs deep. Even the basics weren't met; his room didn't even have a smoke detector, in Malibu of all places, where wildfires are a real and constant threat. The food was so bad that most clients resorted to DoorDash to eat something tolerable. Everything about his experience screamed cost-cutting and exploitation at the expense of people in their most vulnerable state. In my experience, The Pointe Malibu did not heal my partner; it harmed him. It left lasting physical and emotional scars that we are still dealing with every day. If you are reading this and considering this facility for someone you love, please, I am begging you, don't make the same mistake we did. Find a center that values human life and real recovery. This place, in my opinion, is a predatory operation masquerading as care, and sending someone you love there could destroy more than you realize.

I was lucky enough to be in the main house, which has a capacity of 6 (2 singles and 2 double rooms). Because there are multiple houses, things had a tendency to feel a little disjointed and disconnected. My main gripe is that I did not think my therapist was good at all. I was not alone in this feeling; one client actually asked to change out of her care and go to a different therapist. Groups were fine. Mostly short and sweet which I liked. I also enjoyed the outings and movie nights. The staff was great across the board. The food was pretty bad - lots of chicken and bland vegetables. There was a lot of food waste; leftovers were thrown away after 24 hours which I found sad as they could have been donated or given to staff. Little amenities like the laundry service were nice. The hot tub was broken for most of my time there which was a huge bummer. Overall it's an okay place to go to seek treatment but there are better places to go. The best part was the alumni network and follow-up experience - they excel at that.

Title: Extremely Troubling Experience - Please Read Before Choosing This Facility…read more My family recently had a deeply troubling experience involving Cliffside Malibu and their so-called "sister property" in Los Angeles. I'm sharing this to protect other families who may be searching for trustworthy, clinically appropriate dual-diagnosis care. For several weeks, my family member had been in regular communication with a Cliffside Malibu representative about potentially entering their program. We ultimately chose a different treatment center, but when a severe medication reaction occurred at that facility, he ended up hospitalized and in crisis. In order for the institution to discharge him safely, he needed confirmation that another program would take him immediately. He contacted the same representative at Cliffside and was told a bed was available. I personally called that evening to confirm. I was told again, very clearly, that a bed was reserved and that arrangements would be made the next morning for pickup. However, everything changed the moment I asked whether they already had his insurance information on file. Cliffside advertises that they accept his insurance in network. The representative told me he was "under the impression" we would be paying out of pocket--over $70,000 per month. When I stated that insurance would be used, the tone of the conversation shifted abruptly. The next morning, the same representative told my family member that Cliffside Malibu no longer had availability after all, but that they could place him in their "sister property," a location called Casa Palmera in Los Angeles. Given the urgent situation and lack of alternatives, he had no choice but to proceed. What he arrived to was nothing like what Cliffside promises on their website or in their admissions calls. It was literally just a house. There were only two other clients, one of whom left that night, leaving him and one roommate. Meals were ordered from Uber Eats. He was told he would receive group therapy consisting of himself and his one roommate, and a brief weekly Zoom check-in with a psychiatrist. This is not remotely "comprehensive dual diagnosis care," nor what Blue Cross believes they are paying for. In the midst of acute withdrawal and psychological trauma, he was asked to pay $5,000 upfront, which he did--only to discover that the entire experience was essentially a bait-and-switch. He left after one day, now even more distrustful of the treatment system and still in need of medically appropriate care. To make matters worse, the posted licenses for this "sister" facility were expired just days before they admitted him. This raises serious concerns about regulatory oversight and transparency. We will be notifying the insurance company, as the care provided in no way resembled the services they claim to deliver. I am sharing this experience so that other families can exercise caution and ask very direct questions before trusting what is being represented on the phone or online. Our hope is that no one else finds themselves in the same vulnerable position.
