In short, Seasons in Malibu changed my life. I was there for 90 days and every person, every day…read morehelped me recover from the depression I was in. Every person who works at Seasons comes from a place of wanting the clients to succeed and it creates an environment of support that leads to healing and recovery from the mental issues and/or addictions that brought you there. Every day, your schedule includes multiple one-on-one sessions. They offer a wide range of modalities and each practitioner embodies their work so completely and believes in the work so deeply that one cannot help but come away feeling a positive change. The different modalities add up to a wholistic change in yourself by taking on issues from a number of entry points - emotional, spiritual, physical. At first, I was skeptical about a few of the modalities but the practitioners were so well educated and dedicated to their work that I my attitude changed and I reaped the rewards in my recovery. Aga, my case manager was invested from the first session we had together and has kept in touch with me after I discharged. My therapist Dr. Ben is the most talented, insightful therapist as I've had. Also, the COO, Dr. Shilati made herself available for any issues or concerns. It is not necessarily a 12 step recovery center but there are so many people who work there that are in 12 step recovery and literature available that it can feel that way if you are looking for it. They offer transportation every morning and evening to 12 step meetings. Including access to Monday through Friday morning meetings on the beach. The location is Lifeguard Tower 10. Lastly, the facilities are of a 5 Star hotel and the chefs who prepare lunch and dinner every day are supremely talented providing a wide variety of multi-course meals.

Some of the meetings they set up for me were so dumb and useless for me! Had nothing to do with why I was there. The food was catered to fit vegan, or vegetarians and some of us were either so we wouldn't eat the food! The staff would lay on the couch with blankets on them as if they were home and watch movies and, during this time they wouldn't address my issues I was having!! The men that worked there were abusive, creepy and unprofessional!! The only people I could trust was Marsha, Dr tregar, and edan! I left early because it became very uncomfortable! The managers would ignore issues I brought to their attention. They put staff first and always defended them because they were all friends! I would never recommend this place!!

Unfortunately I've been to a number of rehabs and Cliffside was just okay. I got the impression…read morefrom staff there that it used to be substantially better but things started going downhill when it was sold to DBH. They have multiple houses, some nicer than others. I was lucky enough to be in the main house, which has a capacity of 6 (2 singles and 2 double rooms). Because there are multiple houses, things had a tendency to feel a little disjointed and disconnected. My main gripe is that I did not think my therapist was good at all. I was not alone in this feeling; one client actually asked to change out of her care and go to a different therapist. Groups were fine. Mostly short and sweet which I liked. I also enjoyed the outings and movie nights. The staff was great across the board. The food was pretty bad - lots of chicken and bland vegetables. There was a lot of food waste; leftovers were thrown away after 24 hours which I found sad as they could have been donated or given to staff. Little amenities like the laundry service were nice. The hot tub was broken for most of my time there which was a huge bummer. Overall it's an okay place to go to seek treatment but there are better places to go. The best part was the alumni network and follow-up experience - they excel at that.

Title: Extremely Troubling Experience - Please Read Before Choosing This Facility…read more My family recently had a deeply troubling experience involving Cliffside Malibu and their so-called "sister property" in Los Angeles. I'm sharing this to protect other families who may be searching for trustworthy, clinically appropriate dual-diagnosis care. For several weeks, my family member had been in regular communication with a Cliffside Malibu representative about potentially entering their program. We ultimately chose a different treatment center, but when a severe medication reaction occurred at that facility, he ended up hospitalized and in crisis. In order for the institution to discharge him safely, he needed confirmation that another program would take him immediately. He contacted the same representative at Cliffside and was told a bed was available. I personally called that evening to confirm. I was told again, very clearly, that a bed was reserved and that arrangements would be made the next morning for pickup. However, everything changed the moment I asked whether they already had his insurance information on file. Cliffside advertises that they accept his insurance in network. The representative told me he was "under the impression" we would be paying out of pocket--over $70,000 per month. When I stated that insurance would be used, the tone of the conversation shifted abruptly. The next morning, the same representative told my family member that Cliffside Malibu no longer had availability after all, but that they could place him in their "sister property," a location called Casa Palmera in Los Angeles. Given the urgent situation and lack of alternatives, he had no choice but to proceed. What he arrived to was nothing like what Cliffside promises on their website or in their admissions calls. It was literally just a house. There were only two other clients, one of whom left that night, leaving him and one roommate. Meals were ordered from Uber Eats. He was told he would receive group therapy consisting of himself and his one roommate, and a brief weekly Zoom check-in with a psychiatrist. This is not remotely "comprehensive dual diagnosis care," nor what Blue Cross believes they are paying for. In the midst of acute withdrawal and psychological trauma, he was asked to pay $5,000 upfront, which he did--only to discover that the entire experience was essentially a bait-and-switch. He left after one day, now even more distrustful of the treatment system and still in need of medically appropriate care. To make matters worse, the posted licenses for this "sister" facility were expired just days before they admitted him. This raises serious concerns about regulatory oversight and transparency. We will be notifying the insurance company, as the care provided in no way resembled the services they claim to deliver. I am sharing this experience so that other families can exercise caution and ask very direct questions before trusting what is being represented on the phone or online. Our hope is that no one else finds themselves in the same vulnerable position.

They demonstrated their love and care from the first phone call for admissions, through conversation on site, and till your final days. They bent over backwards to accomodate my arrival on same day notice and followed through with their promises made from that moment till the end of my stay. The vibe at Mayberry is shown through the dedication that is displayed from accomodations, staffing, classes, facilitators, management, and even the equestrian activities. This place sticks to its promise of love, compassion, and healing. The staff is well selected and relates 100% to all types of addictions, trauma, and mental health. The therapists are well educated and continually select topics and activities relative to engagement and solutions. The food here is beyond restaurant quality! Chef Cameron endlessly provided meals for all allergies, dietary needs, and daily requests for any pallette. He should be charging us:) Case manager Lauren diligently worked with me through some very trying times to assist with solutions and emotional needs. She is fantastic. Horse therapy was something I had never tried through out my previous 7 times at other facilities. It was worth the wait. There is something humbling and majestic about the peace they bring to you during what can be an extremely difficult time. I had been told by other people that I would not want to leave Rise Mayberry Farms...they had never been so right. 30 days went so fast and was so therapeutic for my path, that I found myself easily opting to stay longer for the sober living program they offered. Ron and Jennifer wholeheartedly believe that Mayberry programming should be about the root cause for those with addiction or trauma to heal, prosper, grow, and become the success they can be. Thank you Traci

A Life Forever Changed ~ Thank You…read more There are moments in life when words fall short, but I'll try. The Rise at Malibu didn't just support me they saved me. In one of the darkest chapters of my life, they extended a hand that pulled me back into the light. Their compassion, expertise, and unwavering commitment were more than professional they were profoundly human. I owe my life to the care, patience, and strength they showed me. Every step of the way, they treated me not as a case, but as a person worth fighting for. That kind of impact doesn't fade it stays with you, reshaping how you see yourself and the world. I want to begin by saying that The Rise in Malibu is far more than just a treatment facility it's a sanctuary for healing, transformation, and rediscovery. After extensive research, I felt confident in my decision before I even arrived. Now, as I prepare to leave, I can say with absolute certainty: I made the right choice. I'm walking away with the reset I desperately needed, armed with tools, a solid plan, and a renewed sense of purpose. What drew me to The Rise in Malibu was their deep commitment to mental health and trauma recovery the very roots of my struggle. From the moment I made that first call, I wasn't just another intake. Ron spoke to me with warmth and clarity, painting a picture of the care I'd receive and the space I'd call home. He gave me hope when I was falling apart. Then Allison stepped in, answering every message, listening to my tears, and making sure I had everything I needed to get to Malibu. Angie welcomed me with open arms, her radiant smile and vibrant energy instantly making me feel safe and seen. She tailored my experience with such care that I always felt supported and comfortable. The program itself is exceptional comprehensive and deeply personal. ***BEWARE OF DR K*** I came to Ohana to get my life back…read more They taught me the entire summer how to make the next right decision and life would get better. Yet while having acupuncture with Dr K she was not paying attention (on her phone) and I ended up with a second degree burn on my abdomen forever. The center nor Dr K feels liable. I have asked each of them to make the next right choice twice and neither has contacted me regarding this matter. In other words they are not practicing what they preach. I had just came from a major psychotic break with one of their clinicians and went directly to acupuncture. I was shaking and cold from the experience so Dr. K put a heat lamp very close to my abdomen to warm me up. I have had a tummy tuck therefore the nerves in this area were dead which is how I did not feel my skin being burned for an entire hour. Dr K did not notice either because she was in and out of the room, and while in the room on her phone. I went to the ER and found I had a 2nd degree burn. Neither party offered to pay for my medical services forcing me to use my medical insurance. Since my insurance was in state only within Michigan I had to fly all the way back there and see my primary doctor and a wound specialist. Neither party offered to help with those expenses either. The burn was so bad it took from the end of June until the end of October for me to even be able to stop wearing bandages and applying save to it daily. When approached to be civil and accountable for what happened by Dr K in their facility they have repeatedly ignored my individual attempt to solve this without lawyers and a large law suit. So much for making the next right choice. Be aware of your surroundings the best you can while undergoing intensive mental health treatment at Monima. Not everyone here is concerned about your best interest.
