You walk in, you dont know where to go, you cant see the coffee cups, you dont know if you are supposed to stand in line...just over all confusing...then you tell the young cashier what you get...really? It is quite comical on a Saturday or Sunday morning as you have a nice influx of the younger generation coming to stop in to try and cure those hangovers from the previous night. I would highly recommend the sticky bun if you have a sweet tooth to kick-start your day. We also got an iced coffee and Hazelnut cafe, which was also good and I would recommend. This place is a staple of being at Avalon during summer time. They have great breakfast sandwiches and huge cinnamon rolls. I don't drink coffee so I can't comment on it, but my friends who have had it say it is really good. My usual order is a sausage, egg, and cheese on a blueberry bagel and it's delicious every time. The staff are all really nice even when it is packed, which is pretty much every morning on the weekends. I worked here for a summer between college semesters so my review may be biased, but this place does breakfast right. They also offer an assortment of cookies and muffins if you are into them as well. I always enjoy coming here every weekend I am down at the shore. Good bagel and drip-style coffee stop. Had a whole wheat everything bagel with veg cream cheese. It seems that even in the off-season it's pretty busy. Great selection for a quick breakfast. We had bacon egg & cheeses on plain bagels, a croissant and a salt bagel with cinnamon walnut cream cheese. All were delicious. Coffee was good as well. Love this place! The breakfast sandwiches are possibly the best I've ever had, my friends say the same thing. The line is usually long but it's worth it the wait and the staff does a good job keeping it moving. The staff seem young but I was impressed by how hard they were working. I can't believe the people writing reviews critiquing these young kids working hard, so mean! I didn't have a problem with how the line worked either. I came here many times during my stay in Avalon and I mainly got a bagel and coffee. The coffee is a bit expensive but it was great and came with a good amount! The bagels are very fresh. I was charged the wrong amount one time and when I called, the manager was very respectful and cleared things up and my coffee was on them the next day. Service was quick too. read more

This spot is known for its fresh bagels and coffee. I'm a regular here on summer weekends since it's hard to find bagels this good outside of NJ! It's always packed during those times but the line moves quickly. I always get bagels to go which are delicious and huge. Easily can feed two people for breakfast. Fair prices for the quality you get. One critique I have is that on busy days they run out of bagels by 11 AM. I always wonder why they don't just make more bagels rather then loose all that business. Best breakfast on island. Bagels fresh everyday (I have seen them get delivered in the morning with my own eyes) , gigantic breakfast sandwiches and awesome coffee. I will admit, a little confusing for a newcomer, but the small floor space adds to the charm (I think, at least). They do call-ins for those who don't want to wait in line, which are handy for group rentals and families looking for lunch on the beach. Outside seating is at a premium with a dog bowl for the pets and treats inside for the dogs too. I don't get this place. First off ordering and getting coffee is a hassle. The bagels are pretty bad and really have no flavor or fluff, kind of like a piece of cardboard. The eggs were over cooked and plastic looking. Lastly, at a place called coffee co you would expect really good coffee. What you get is ice coffee in a solo cup.... The ice coffee In the solo cup was weird and they fill it so you can't even add milk or sugar. Busy place despite and has a nice decor, they should Improve before they go out of business. read more

Officially THE WORST ESPRESSO I EVER HAD! That's including airports, miscellaneous bakeries and corner stores in different cities in US and abroad. Honestly. I was aware that their coffee is not so good but I thought may be acquired espresso machine in effort to improve. Well, that was a mistake. The concoction sold as espresso is hard to desribe and pretty much impossible to drink. The only reason Avalon Coffee thrives in Avalon is that the closest Starbucks is 15 miles away. read more

I'm from a big city and there's a difference between a place being busy and the owner just being kinda nasty because you have questions about what your ordering. Best bagels by far down the shore! Their pork roll is very think. Some places skimp you out on pork-roll. Coffee was great just kind of warm. Ordered a large order and everything came out perfect. Avoid this shop. TERRIBLE service, poor quality, and overpriced. My husband and I stopped in on our way out of town to grab a latte. While standing in line the rude female workers were telling the cute boys that walked in to cut in front of us, trying pathetically to flirt. My family and I live in Avalon all summer and get breakfast from Avalon Coffee almost every weekend. Since they always have a line/wait to get to food, we typically like to order online. Multiple times we have put an order online and our order is never complete because they are out of bagels more often than not. Their app does not update based on the inventory so don't even bother using it. At our most recent experience, we ordered 6 sandwiches online and everything we ordered was out of stock upon arrival. They refunded what they couldn't make and my sister waited outside for 35 min for the rest of the order. She went inside to check on the order and the workers nonchalantly handed her the bag that had been sitting there ready for many minutes. They didn't even bother to bring the bag outside once it was ready even after all the issues that occurred prior. We truly love the food and coffee at Avalon Coffee but the service is absolutely horrible. read more

This is the biggest ripoff on the island. I got a simple bagel with scallion cream cheese and iced coffee. The iced coffee was so incredibly bad that I had to throw it out (the coffee was full of grounds). The bagel was not toasted but rather slightly warmed (and cold by the time I got it), and the bagel with cream cheese alone cost nearly $5!!! It was insane. Will never go back. At least Coffee Talk has great food and coffee to go along with their inflated prices. read more

Good bagels and nice cream cheese selection. Tried iced coffee for the first time and it was very bitter. It is also quite chaotic on the weekend as there are separate lines for coffee, food, and the registers. It definitely takes a few trips to figure it out. There is also a $10 credit card minimum which is pretty inconvenient. It's pretty pricey too-- bagel with cream cheese & iced coffee was around $7.50. Overall, it's just okay. read more

Bagels and pastries are good, the coffee average, but not so good it is worth the long, confusing and frustrating line. We would perhaps go back if they could figure out to efficiently organize the shop. The counter help for the bagels are great with 3 to 4 people workimg the pastiries and the coffe is self served but for whatever reason the owner has the 1 kid and the cash register ringing up customers, making iced coffe drinks or mocha drinks, grinding beans etc. Problem becomes all the other people suffer the LONG wait to pay. It is a real test of patience. The owner should spend 5 minutes to reorganize the shop. Probably would make a good 10% to 15% more revenue. read more

The coffee here is fine. The prices are a bit high even for a beach area food place. I ordered a small container of chicken salad today (round container about an inch high) and it cost me $9.25. No bread or anything else. It would have been $3 at a grocery store. It is not worth the wait on a Sat or Sunday morning if the line is long. As one reviewer mentioned, the bagels have little taste. Have been coming to Avalon / Avalon coffee for over 20 years. However on our 2016 summer vacation each trip to Avalon coffee was worst than the last. Firstly my family were complaining about the bagel and egg sandwiches. Saying they were bland. However I wrote this off. But on our most recent trip we ordered a couple smoothies which wee very watery and did not have a nice fruit flavor. I ordered an iced Americano, being someone who has worked in the coffee industry I was extremely disappointed to see the barista take "iced espresso" out of the fridge. Honestly I would rather go to wawa at least they make fresh espresso for an iced drink. Will not be returning. read more
