Went today for smog check again, for my 2010 Hyundai with only 34k miles, to Paco's place on 6th St. E., close to my home on 10th St. - Ever since I went there yrs. ago, I will always go back. - Thou generally serious and quiet, he greeted me with a smile and said: "It's been 2 yrs. already...?!!" -We had friendly catch-up-conversation while Paco conscientiously did his job & then the paper/computer work. - Good price, trust Paco & am comfortable there, and as senior Christian person like to spend my money with god-fearing people & businesses, since all I have is from God anyway. Second time coming here for smog check. Found this place through Yelp. I called and made an appointment and he was ready right when I got there. Truck did not pass, but he was able to talk me through the code and problem so that I could better direct my mechanic for a fix. Came back and truck passed. Same this time. Told me 30 minutes, I got here and the bay was open and ready. Best price in town as well. read more

Worse place to go to for smog checks in the AV. The people are not very friendly nor do they even know what they are doing. I brought my truck there because california required me to go to a start station. So they test my truck and i get the sheet saying it hasnt passed. He then goes on to explain that reason it hasnt passed is because it has a gas leak and the nox % was high. Over the required limits. Then offers to fix it for over $300 and it will pass smog. How do you come up with that amount when all you have done is run a smog check? You already know how to fix it that quick from just running it? Hmm. So i pay $40 for a failed smog check and i leave. Within next few days i start to weigh my options on what im going to do because i really need my truck and i dont have this ridiculous amount of money this person has asked me to pay. As i go over the paperwork of the smog check i come to realize that there is some stuff that isnt right. For example my truck is a chevy2500 and on the sheet they had it as a chevy1500. Also the mileage they wrote down was wrong, the weight of it and put down that it was being smog tested for change of ownership. We have had this truck for a long time. No new owners here. Now im not a smog tech expert so im not sure how it works, but maybe the requirements on smog levels could differ from a chevy2500 to 1500. So to move forward i cleaned a few items on the engine like the oil/oil filter, and cleaned out the air filter. A few days go by and i take my truck back to a different smog testing center to have it tested. They perform the test and it passed with flying colors. All the measurements were very good if not below average. How could his be? The first technician labeled it a H.E.P [high engine polluter] So i go home and compare the two sheets come to find put the first place really didnt do anything right totally different numbers. What a joke that place is. Ripping people off probably on the daily trying to take advantage of people. So my advice to anyone out there is do not take your vehicle to these uneducated people. Use the internet to get informaion about smog checks. How to pass them and what to look for like i did so you dont get robbed for hundreds of dollars for nothing. read more

As another review said, these people don't know what they are doing. Took my 2011 Subaru with only 52000 miles on it to them for its first smog check. I have an aftermarket air intake on my car that is C.A.R.B. approved, and I have the sticker with the C.A.R.B.E.O. number on it right on the intake. Guy goes through all the steps and then the last thing he does is checks the C.A.R.B.E.O. number for my intake in the database. He says it doesn't cover my year car, so he fails my car saying the fuel metering system was tampered with. Dude was too lazy to look into it even a little bit. He proceeds to tell me I need to get a hold of the intake manufacturer and get the right sticker, or put my stock intake back on. I go home and jump on my computer and within 5 minutes of doing some research I find the C.A.R.B.E.O. for my intake! I was on the same page the guy at the shop was on, and the C.A.R.B.E.O. for my car was two below the one he was looking at on the list! So I am out the $32 dollar testing fee and have to get my car retested somewhere else. Don't waste your time or money with this place, they are shady and will find a way to fail you just to get extra money. read more
