I…read morerequested in writing with several photos included for a quote for repairing a chimney cap and was helped immediately by an exceptional scheduler who informed me that they also do stucco repair and would I like a quote for that as well. I readily agreed since at this point everyone I contacted for the stucco did not do chimney cap repair as well. "One stop shopping" was very appealing. Mad Masonry send a crew out and forwarded me a quote. The quote was very detailed and broke out the Stucco repair separate from the chimney cap repair. The stucco repair came in at almost 5X of any other quote I received !!!! I emailed them back and said I'd like to go forward with just the chimney cap repair not the stucco. At this point, I received a phone call from the owner, Peter Ungaro, who informed me that it would now be extra to do just the chimney cap repair... I questioned him on this explaining that he was 5X any other Stucco repair and he said well it was a courtesy that he added the chimney cap repair number and they were really interested in the Stucco repair. This is patently FALSE and BAIT AND SWITCH since the initial request was for chimney cap ALONE. The owner, Peter, now claimed that he would have to put scaffolding up in order to repair the chimney. The initial request included photos so he was very very very aware that scaffolding would be necessary. It is not my fault that he is so far off the mark in terms of price to repair stucco that it would be absurd to use him for that piece of the job. He "generously" offered to send me a new quote for chimney cap repair with scaffolding. BEWARE: THIS COMPANY LIES BEFORE THEY EVEN HAVE THE JOB. I cannot imagine how difficult it would be to get them to stand behind their work when THEY DONT HONOR THEIR WRITTEN QUOTE!!! IF it were possible to give them ZERO STARS I would very readily. What is the point in providing a written quote if the BUSINESS OWNER refuses to stand by it. AVOID as it will cost you ....

We are on the third floor of a walk up condo, and we have a private rooftop deck. We started…read moregetting leaks in the ceiling in two places in our kitchen, and called about a half a dozen places in and around the city to come out and assess. The proposals were all over the place. Some companies said it couldn't be done without ripping off the rooftop deck and repairing everything. Some companies said it wasn't the roof at all, it was condensation inside the house? Jeff at Rollin Contracting was way more honest and practical in his assessment. He pointed out where he suspected the two leaks were coming from, but said that you never really know until you rip up the roof and move the air conditioner and take a look. He told us that roof repair was tricky, that the guys who said we might have to replace the whole roof could be right. But he wouldn't start with that, he would start with the less expensive approach. Granted, there was the risk that if it didn't work, we would have wasted that money when they re-did the whole roof, but we decided to gamble on a $2000 repair rather than jump into the $12,000 repair of the whole roof. Rollin Contracting was the only one who was honest and open and gave us options. He was also the one who was most confident in where he thought the leaks were coming from. It has now been one month since they repaired both potential sources of the leak, and neither of the leaks have come back. And in case you haven't been paying attention, we've gotten absolutely drenched this May. Meaning there is no doubt in my mind that they successfully fixed the leaks. The contractors that came to do the work were great, they didn't even enter the house. I offered to let them come inside to get to the rooftop, and they said they preferred to just go up and over to keep our house clean. While taking up the wooden boards on the rooftop deck to do the roof repair, they accidentally broke one of the boards. They went to Home Depot and replaced the board that day. Not a big deal, and super quick to fix it. Also, at the last minute (after we had signed the contract), I realized that I had forgotten to ask them about the fireplace, which also occasionally drips water during bad storms. I asked Jeff if he would have his guys look at the chimney to see if they could identify the source of the potential leak and to let me know what his recommendations were to have that fixed as well. He went ahead and had his guys caulk it while they were up there without even charging us. I know that's probably not a huge expense, but it was still a nice gesture to just throw that in. So across the board it was a great experience. Would definitely work with these guys again and recommend them with confidence.

Please think twice before hiring this contractor - it will not be worth it if there are any uncertainties re: your project and they will say anything to get your job. We hired Jeff to perform some deck work for our three flat. Jeff quoted us $6K to replace certain posts and railings. One year later, additional work was clearly required because railings were loose and Jeff performed an additional $3K worth of work. At no time to Jeff represent himself as anything other than qualified to perform the work. Turns out he never even got a permit for the work. We were cited by the city for non-compliance shortly after his second round of work. He complied with fixing some of the issues identified. When he met with the inspector to review the work and confirm compliance, he essentially yelled, screamed, stormed off and refused to fix any of the additional work. We are now left with a deck that still needs work, $12K later. Jeff continues not to respond to emails/requests for him to finish his work. Jeff misrepresented his ability to do deck work according to city law and code. His unprofessionalism in resolving the issue that he created (he should have just said his people didnt do deck work maybe instead of doing a poor job and then getting upset when someone challenged him to do the work properly) was so disappointing. Do not work with this contractor.

Just a couple of weeks ago I was a victim of Identity theft doing exactly this type of things so I expressed I didn't feel comfortable and Ken got very VERY NASTY out of the line personal text messages . I don't understand why I have to send them my info so many times so many different ways, then they sent me several emails, many text messages all withing minutes!!! I read their reviews -most excellent ones -so they might be a legit company but if this is the treatment before even trying to get any pic of the job or come over for an estimate...I can't imagine the treatment once they are hired.
