I will just say the two gentleman who helped me today can be called nothing but racist men who do not like their jobs and only care about their inventory and commission. I am going to post what I wrote on their website hoping I save at least one person from experiencing what I did.
Well,I didn't ask for their names mainly because I wait tables for a living and I didn't want to be rude. I wasn't even going to say anything but now the other product I bought doesn't fit and I spent twenty dollars but I do not feel comfortable entering this location again.
My reason for going to auto zone today was because my friend had bought a new car and I planned on getting him the best car accessories money could buy. When I think of car parts I have always thought of autozone. I go there every three months for oil, light bulbs, and occasionally an air filter, one time I ordered a blower motor. I have always been happy with your products and your customer service has always been adequate. This is the Lancaster store. I made the mistake of going into the one on refugee road. We walked in and asked where the car accessories were and he told us, but when we asked about ordering a black leather steering wheel cover, he said he doesn't do that. He said we should check on main st, he used to work there and they had a lot of them, "which is the nicest thing the man said the whole time". From this point on my friend described it as racist. I figured we would driver over to main st, we asked if he could call over, thinking hey there is no one in the store, why not right?? He answered "I don't have a product number so I am not going to do it. I said, well can you call and ask what types of covers they have in stock, and he "with a raised voice at this point" I do not have a product number, I don't think you understand what I am trying to say, if I don't have a product number than they would have to get out from behind the counter and look and they won't do that!!!" Thinking I was on Candid Camera, I politely said ok, I checked out what accessories I could find for him, I bought a coin sorter and a cup holder, I also was able to find a wheel cover for my truck. So I got out my 40 dollars, which I have to work about 5 hours for and gave him my money.
Knowing Autozone used to value satisfaction, which is big for me when I buy auto parts since I get it wrong a lot. We tried out the cupholder, it was worse than pathetic, which is not a big deal since I never blame a sales man for their product and it wasn't like he guaranteed it would work. I said to my friend, "you know what I am going to go in and return this so there isn't any confusion. I was hoping to ask the gentleman for something I could order.
So, I go in and there is cashier 2 but I am two back in line, no problem I said, I am a patient man.
I watch as cashier 1 stands and does nothing for about 3 minutes and than another man from another store comes in and retrieves a duralast battery. I fumbled with a shovel for a minute, which I believe I put on correctly and than I got bored, about 10 minutes at this point standing in line so I decide to pay attention to what my cashier number 1 was talking about. I heard him say "I am having such a bad day". I think to myself, You know wha,t I need to give this guy some credit, I mean I have had bad days before.
So about 15 minutes later, just coincidentally right after I got to the register to return the cupholder, cashier number 1 decides to chip in. So, this is where I lost all hope for this store. I said I needed to return the cupholder extender, it really just does not fit in the cupholder at all, I apologized and told him how I had managed a GNC before and when customers would return things I lost money. His response in a very condensending tone was "well you really did it, you damaged it and now I can't sell it, it was the last one to so we are really losing out". I wish I could have said "you have got to be kidding me, you are going to make me feel bad about the fact you sold me a cup extender that doesn't fit in cup holders." I didn't though since I know how it feels for customers to be smart. So, after never looking me in the eye and making comments under his breath, he sent me back to cashier number 1 and my thought was "oh crap, I really did it this time." I walked over and heard the comment "We normally don't do these transactions after 3 on Saturday" That is when I was done. He proceeded to give me the wrong change back, and it took 4 assertions by myself to convince him he wasn't reading the receipt right. He raised his voice, not a lot, he wasn't yelling or anything but you could tell his voice was raised and said "well you are wrong" This is when I lost it the second time. Still remaining calm, I convinced him, and he told cashier number 2 he was wrong. He finally gave me my money but kept the receipt. It cost me 40 dollars to be ridiculed and given crappy parts.
