refused to replace a 3 day old battery that supposedly has 3 year warranty on it that was not at 100% but at 65% and is actively dying very fast. the representative was rude arguing stating let my mechanic test it when this is a parts store not a mechanic shop, and he refused to let me show him the charge with my equipment. My check engine light suddenly alerted me that Something... was irritating my car. I stopped at Auto Zone, where, as the advertisement says, "they can read the code", and life will return to normal. Now, most of the world knows that some of the codes are pretty ambiguous, and as just as informative as the check engine light itself. I've done this often enough to know it's a coin toss whether you find something specific or not. Of course that part has nothing to do Auto Zone. But When I stopped by to use their secret OBD Decoder, I found that there was a very nice lady ahead of me. Here's where things went wrong. Apparently they had just handed her the reader, told her to plug it in, then bring it back to have the code downloaded and deciphered. They didn't say what to plug it into, or where she should find look for it. I was parked next to her while she held the instrument, and cable and a perplexed look on her face. I could see that she didn't know what it was, or how to use it, so I helped her find the port, plug it in, and pressed every button I could get my hands on to get a reading. She was grateful for the help, but didn't know just as I didn't know, that we needed to take it back in to have their system read it. It would have been nice to know, or had some more assistance from the home team. I'm old enough to remember the mood of our country is as bad or worse than the late 70s. Perhaps all of us need to be cognizant, and treat each other a little better. Bad day or no...I started this out with a "2", but I'm going to bump it up one, could be our bad days could have collided. read more

I took my car to O'Reilly's where I purchased my battery. I was having trouble starting my car. My battery was fine, but when I asked if they could check the alternator the young man told me I would have to take it out and bring it back to have it checked. This didn't sound right to me, so I called a friend and he told me they should be able to check it. I took it down the street to AutoZone and Jeff told me they could check it for me, but they would have to charge the battery first completely. He took me inside and got me a chair and a bottle of water while I waited for the battery to charge. I am a single woman and no one to pick me up. They checked both my alternator and starter and it was my alternator. I ordered the alternator from them and it was there the following day. I got great service from friendly and kind folks! They acted as if they were concerned about my situation and took good care of me!!! I will not go back to O'Reilly's - BUT I will be back to AutoZone!!!!! read more

i'm not one to write reviews at all, but what happened here frustrates me to no end and i don't want this to happen to anyone else! i purchased a battery for my car here in July. everything was fine until a week or 2 later, the battery dies. jumpstart it and it works. the next day, it's dead again. we take it to be charged at this Autozone in Hutto. first off, the customer service was almost nonexistent. the employees here are not helpful whatsoever. when we pick the battery up later that evening, we're told that it's not a good battery and we should get a new one, but we would have to pay out of pocket because the battery i JUST purchased doesn't have warranty...ALL batteries have warranty, so i'm super confused. i ended up going to the Autozone in Taylor & the customer service there is great. the employees there are knowledgeable and helpful. they weren't able to pull up my transaction from Hutto because it literally didn't exist. it wasn't in the system. the battery Autozone in Hutto sold me was COMPLETELY worn out & they believe i was given a stolen battery. so moral of the story is, do NOT purchase a battery here because they apparently like to scam people & sell you bad batteries!! :) read more

Second time visiting this Autozone. You either come to Autozone needing something or in an emergency. So I finally had the latter, which I think really puts my trust for them to the test. I was helped out by Michael, Tucker, and Antonio. Michael assisted me right away testing out my car battery. Then Tucker installed a new one in probably less than 4 mins in 40 degree weather. And Antonio explained everything about what I got, and what I'll ever need from them. Very grateful for this Trifecta of a team doing what they do best. Val an employee at this location has earned the 5 star rating from me. Needed my battery checked out and with his help replaced. After he removed and changed the battery with all the electronics in my car I could not figure out how to reset the theft system in which the car system for radio, menu, settings, etc. So I asked Val and he promptly came to the car and told me what to do. We explained the problem, Mr moses went back in the store, came back out with a code reader, and checked the car.methodicaly It turned out, we had a loose gas cap. However, when I can see the wad of dip in your mouth from 15 feet away, it's a bit excessive. Just seems a bit unprofessional if you ask me. The best customer service experience ever! My wife's car wouldn't start and had to be jump started by AAA; they told her it could be the battery. The next day, after jump starting it again from my car, I took it to Auto Zone in Hutto. JW was friendly and considerate and checked it out for me. The alternator was fine but the battery was bad. Unfortunately, the battery I wanted wasn't in stock and wouldn't be in until later that afternoon. I only live a couple miles from the store and JW offered to install the battery at my house when he got off work. We have had good luck with Auto Zone until last evening. After being told we needed to buy an alternator and possibly a starter before they would give us credit for a dead battery. If we bought the battery without the purchase there would be no warranty or any credit from the dead one in the car. After waiting over a hour for AAA to arrive and showing the manager it was the battery, we were able to purchase a new one from them in order to get home. What a joke! Never again will we go into that store. They never did give us any explanation of why their machine that was suppose check the battery strength killed our engine either. AAA's had no problem and got the truck started with a jump. read more
