The inside of the store was a decent experience, but the parking lot was absolutely disgusting…read more There is a man who appears to run an auto repair business out of an old black spray-painted Dodge van in the parking lot. While he's working underneath cars, his pants hang so low that his butt crack and dirty underwear are fully exposed for everyone to see. My family and I were completely disgusted. He also has several people hanging around him while he works on cars, which makes the parking lot feel intimidating. Some of them were holding what appeared to be open beer containers. The worst part was when I parked in a legitimate parking space next to him. He immediately yelled at me and told me to move because he "needed that spot" to work on cars. No customer should be told they can't park in an O'Reilly parking space because someone has claimed it as their personal repair shop. From what I've heard, this has been going on for years. Management really needs to address this. It makes the entire store look bad.

Solid five stars…read more My mother's 2005 Mazda had to have a transmission replaced one year ago. Took it to the dealer and they said they couldn't get the parts and couldn't do the work. I called around to 5 or 6 shops, (including several Aamcos), claiming to specialize in transmissions and got pretty much the same story. But I'm stubborn. And then I called Mr Kirby. He says "Sure, bring it in" or something to that effect. She got it back a week later with an 18 month/18,000 mile warranty. A couple of weeks later her warning light came on. It was driving ok so we took it back to Mr Kirby. One of the new parts had a crack in it so he repaired it completely under warranty. All's well that ends well. Fast forward a year and the warning light comes on again, and this time it wasn't really drivable so we have it towed back to the South Loop. (Thank you AAA) Again, a crack in one of the replacement parts. Again, fixed completely under warranty. Now, I know that's Aamco's warranty policy and not Mr. Kirby's. So while I'm technically reviewing AAMCO-South Loop, it's Mr Kirby that makes this location special. He's personable and professional and "Is a man of his word". What more can you ask of an auto shop? Lastly, I suspect, but don't know, that's it's the unreliability of the after market Chinese made parts that forced me to make so many phone calls to find a shop willing to do the work. If you ever need transmission work, (Heaven forbid!), go see Mr Kirby. He's a good guy.
