Within minutes, a NAPA employee showed up with a jump kit which got my vehicle to the NAPA storefront. He tested the battery and offered me several options on battery replacements. He then installed it and tested it again to make sure everything was working properly. While breaking down is no fun, doing it next to a NAPA and its friendly and knowledgeable employees who will solve the problem for you is highly recommended. I can't thank the guy who helped me enough at a time when I couldn't help myself.

My mistake was not splurging the extra $300 for a step that ran the whole length of the passenger side, rather than just two small steps for the driver and front passenger. Fast forward to earlier this year and my wife wants a step for the rear passengers so her elderly parents can get in and out more comfortably. She asked around and other Sprinter owners in the area told her that Truckin Thunder was the place to go. I'm busier these days so I figured it was worth the labor cost to have someone else take care of it. Learn from my sad tale of woe and incompetence, reader -- it was not. We picked up the van today and the long step on the passenger side is visibly crooked -- not on one axis either, but two! And not only that, but the step is so far under the body of the van that you can barely get your toes on it. It doesn't function as a step! After examining it, my wife called Truckin Thunder and explained that they had installed it incorrectly. Without even waiting for an explanation, the rude manager cut her off and said, "No we didn't." She said that it was a worse step than what it was replacing and could she have the old one back -- no. She told him that he sold her a step that couldn't be stepped on, that failed to meet the requirements that he gave her, and she wanted to return it -- no returns, she was told. I'll never go here again, that's for sure.

Maybe not always exact with his part numbers and quotes. I had an appointment today and when I showed up they were ready for me. After consulting with Vince, his more experienced partner, it was determined the wiring harness quote was off by $175.00. This purchase is a cost/benefit equation so I had to make a decision. After considering all the options, I decided to go ahead with it. Utijlmatey it was $91.00 more. Vince stepped in and helped with the labor of taking apart the rear interior to get the job done. Wiring a German made SUV isn't always an exact science. The Audi dealership quoted $1,200.00, I would never pay that but it was a point of reference. I felt confidant that I was getting quality work here and they would stand behind it. I was a bit bothered they were off the original estimate. It was just that...an estimate so...all is well that ends well.

An hr. later I was notified that the battery was charged and good. I had my doubts but took my battery home and put it in vehicle. Sunday I started my vehicle but engine kind of lagged but finally turned over. I drove for an hour and came home. Monday went out and of course vehicle would not start. Jumped it off and headed out and then the alternator light came on. I thought that maybe the rep was right. I contacted my dealership to have them run a diagnostic test. They ran the test and the diagnostics passed but battery failed the load test. Dealership said alternator light probably came on due to alternator working harder to keep battery charged. Being I was in Spotsylvania, I decided to go to the nearest Auto Zone to get a replacement. I went to Spotsylvania Auto Zone and the rep, said she was a manager and could not provide a new battery until they tested it. I explained that it had already been tested and was told by Auto Zone rep in Dumphries that battery was good but in reality battery would not hold charge and that diagnostic test was conducted and passed but battery load test failed. I even showed her the paperwork from the dealership. She did not care as long as their battery tester provided a Green light. We went back and forth and she said she could get someone higher up to see if they would replace the battery. I said that would be great. I waited for 10 minutes and no one ever came back outside so I left. Luckily there is more than one Auto Zone so I contacted Dumphries again and spoke with the manager. Thank goodness he had common sense and replaced my battery and I explained to him the money that I had wasted just to prove that the battery even though it may have read "Good", was actually bad and would not hold a charge. My vehicle starts every time now. To the manager in Spotsylvania, please listen to your customers, I am 60 not 16, this is not my first time dealing with car batteries. No customer wants to spend extra money when not needed or waste their time and the customer has the proof showing the battery is bad, but they would not even look at it. In the end I got my under warranty battery replaced and the only thing that you and Auto Zone accomplished was turning a lifelong Auto Zone customer into a non- Auto Zone customer. Meth kit - has no leaks works fine, wired to a fuse that has power even when car is off. Drains battery if not turned off with the car. Front splitter was missing bolts even with hardware provided only hanging on from canards. Splitter was flapping at 100+; destroyed my $1,100 splitter and $250 front grill. Was told my front accessory drive bolts were loose - they were not I torqued to spec. They proceeded to hit all the bolts with an impact, breaking my AC compressor bolt which the belt pulled the AC line towards my header. Cost $1,300 to take to another shop to get fixed. Crank seal was replaced with incorrect crank seal for the Innovators West Balancer. Which then leaked oil under boost / left a puddle of oil under the car when turned off. Do not take your performance car here. I have other friends in the car industry that have been screwed over by these guys.
