I was standing in line waiting, while two employees were at the counter helping customers. I was next in line and there was no one behind me. I noticed this woman standing next to me asking, excuse me, excuse me, very timidly. I spoke up and said excuse me, pointed at the woman and said this woman has been trying to get your attention and you're just ignoring her. That's when Erik, the store manager tells me they know what they're doing. I say, "No you don't, you're supposed to say, "Oh, I'm so sorry, I didn't hear her, just a moment ma'am, I'll be right with you..." (Schooling him on how to do his job) "Yeah she knows..." That's when I said, "you just lost a sale!" And as I was walking out he and another employee kept running their mouths When I called the store afterwards to get the store number and employee names, The first thing I did was explain that I was in earlier and felt as if I received very poor customer service and asked for an apology. I did not receive one from Erik the store manager. Instead he began to argue so I just hung up on him. I already had the info I needed and gave him enough rope. :) Very, very poor customer service. BTW I ended up spending my money elsewhere, so they have employees actively sabotaging this business. I needed a new car battery. Erik the store manager first checked my battery and confirmed I needed a new one. He showed me my options and the prices. He removed the old battery and disposed of it for me. Then installed the new battery and I was on my way. Erik and his staff were extremely friendly and helpful. This is regarding my experience at the business on Sycamore. I've been an Auto Zone customer since I lived in Texas. I purchased headlight bulbs several months ago from AutoZone in Sun Valley, they were wonderful and installed the right bulb. I should have gone with my gut and visited the AZ in Canoga Park, which is more diverse. I had the extra bulb, I asked the staff if he could install it for me, by his body language he didn't want to assist me. He told me that they're not a repair shop. I informed him that yes I'm aware of that but could he please help me out. It took him 3 minutes to install it. I will never visit any AutoZone in Simi Valley. Canoga Park and Sun Valley AZ are top notch. read more

They seem to be more interested in helping you out not just trying to sell you something. Note that this is for the AutoZone store on Tapo Street, not the one on Sycamore. I came in to specifically purchase a Fram PH8A filter for my application. The store's selection of Fram filters was practically non-existent. I saw a spot on the shelf for this popular filter, but it was empty. I asked one of the associates if they had some in the back, that I could purchase. His reply was odd. He stated that AutoZone and even Walmart would no longer be carrying Fram filters, because they were bought out by STP, and that STP and Fram filters are now identical, and are the same product. He repeated this three times to me, however I wasn't convinced. Being a previous professional mechanic, I knew something about the history and pedigree of each company, and this sounded off. Nevertheless, on his recommendation, I reluctantly bought an STP filter from them. When I got home, it was obvious that the two filters were not even close to being the same. They both spin on and work, but the designs share many different design elements. I then did some research on the current parent companies of both Fram and STP. They are absolutely not affiliated with each other - period... Fram is owned, as of October 2023, by First Brands Group, LLC and was previously the Trico Group. STP is currently owned by Energizer Holdings, and has been since 2018. So, the associate at AutoZone was either misinformed, and thus sold me something I didn't want, OR he lied in order to sell a store-preferred brand of oil filter. Either way, it means this particular AutoZone store cannot be trusted to give the customer accurate information. I cannot recommend them... read more

My boss gives away a free car wash every Friday and I happened to win yesterday. The guy who does the job is very thorough. When he gave me back my keys he asked if I had been having problems starting my car because the battery sounded off. He suggested I should get it tested So it was the first order of business when I got up today. The closest spot to me was this. Luckily, it wasn't crazy busy when I got there. I was helped right away. Bryan assisted me and did the swap. He did the battery test and explained everything to me. He wasn't pushy which was nice. I ended up getting a new battery. It actually all worked out since the battery that was taken out was on its last months of the 5 year mark. I didn't have to do a thing. Didn't even get a little dirty. Man Erik is the man. I'm so glad that by sheer luck I happen to have a family friend who knows him and told me to go to the sycamore AutoZone out of the 3 in Simi Valley. He's the perfect fit personality and professionalism as the store manager. I happened to notice people would go on Google or YouTube, or whatever they have in their minds, and argue with him when he's doing his best to help that person. I suggest not to argue with any AutoZone employee regardless, let alone the store manage. His intentions are only good. When they place was over run/busy he made sure not to sit and stick with only one person (like me for example) and gave everyone equal attention to be fair. Erik L. is the BEST. as a woman, going into Autozone is ZERO fun. Employees always talk down to you and act like you know absolutely nothing. Not Erik. He was so attentive from the moment i stepped foot in the door! He asked if i needed any help and instead of just telling me what part i needed, he actually walked me to it. He also went above and beyond as i purchased my wiper blades, by not only explaining how to change them out on my Kia Sorrento, but SHOWING me how to it, step by step. This business does not follow through on basic promises they make for parts ordered. They are nowhere near as friendly or competent as their competitors. I find the people at Pep Boys and O'Reilly's far friendlier and accommodating and the experience at this location a nightmare compared to the ease of shopping elsewhere. They offered a discount then gave excuses as to why they failed to give the discount. Shop anywhere but here. Keith in particular was useless. The cash register didn't even carry change for the customer for a small sale. Totally unprepared and unprofessional. Two thumbs down. read more

I had a 200 dollar order I needed to return that I purchased in the Moorpark store, the order being some rotors and brake pads. I didn't want to make the drive to Moorpark, and Autozone being a corporation, I figured I could return them at any store. I got there and they told me that they had a sales quota they had to meet and that it would hurt them personally if they took my items... It was within 30 days of purchase(their policy is within 90 DAYS). They eventually asked their STORE MANAGER, and shockingly even he sent me off to go to Moorpark... Eventually I called up, the Autozone on Tapo, they said they could do it no fuss, and apologized for the other store. Bad customer service and a terrible excuse no to take my return. read more

My wife was having a battery problem. They confirmed the battery was bad and offered to replace it at no labor charge. "Great let's do it!" Then we had an issue with the old battery breaking the terminal while removing it. (Not autozone's fault) The manager Eric and his associate Cole were amazing. This one's a tough call. One of the sales associates was potentially the dumbest human being to ever be excreated out of a person's body and to breath air. On the other hand, when the intellectually inferior associate stumbled out of the way, an extremely intelligent, well spoken, friendly, knowledgable associate stepped in and blew me away with impecable service. So... I don't know... Flip a coin, and hope that you get the brainy clerk to help you and not the other guy who probably couldn't find his own ass with a road map, google earth on his smart phone, directions from his friend, and both of his own hands... DECEPTIVE. I will NOT return and have encouraged my friends via the social networks to do so, as well. I went there today at about 10am to buy brake light bulbs. As the gentlemen working the counter handed me the bulbs, he also handed me a small packet of bulb cleaner and said "From now own, you should get this bulb connection cleaner and use it each time you replace bulbs" and handed me the small package. He did NOT say, 'these are $2.' By him not saying anything to me about cost; I presumed the were a courtesy this time-to encourage a sale for next time (marketing). At the register with a different sales person, I noticed the total seemed higher and I inquired about that bulb cleaner. Sure enough; it was roughly $2. I had already paid, and just wanted out of the store as quickly as possible. I won't do business with DECEPTIVE BUSINESS PRACTICES. I did tell the cashier, loud enough for the other guy to hear that customers need to be told that they aren't being given something for free. By not mentioning anything about cost and handing me a product--implies it's a free promotion for this visit. Interpret this how you want, bottom line; it was deceptive and I'm not going back. read more

If you need parts for your car go here. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and patient. Both my headlights went out at different time and both times I came in the service was great. The prices are fair and they even switched out the headlight for me the second time which is above and beyond what they have to do.
