Here is my experience with this "woman" Heidi at the Autozone in Hyannis.
I bought windshield wipers on Saturday before a long drive to CT. At 50-60mph they started to lift up off the windshield on the downward swipe not wiping water away. The brand was RainX and clearly you were paying for the name, not for the actual function of a good quality windshield wiper. So I dealt with it and when I got back to the cape, I attempted to returned them and exchange for another brand. I needed other stuff anyways. So while I was shopping, a lady behind the counter (Heidi) says she can take me right over here. I said I'm still shopping and I have to return stuff also over on the returns side of the counter. She responded "well don't put anything on these counters, this isn't a place to hold stuff" I told her I wasn't. Wow ok... I grabbed a couple more things and went to check out and return these wipers in exchange for a different pair. I was next in line so she walked over and took me to her computer. I said I'd like to return these in exchange for these. I was expecting her to ask a few questions like what's wrong with them, why didn't you like them, etc. instead I got silence no communication. She pulls them out of the box and starts inspecting them. She tells me these aren't the wipers that came in these boxes. I said yes they are. She responded no they aren't. Another employee had walked up at this time and asked what's wrong and she told him I was trying to return my old blades for a refund. I told her no again, now I'm getting pissed at this point. I told her show me these blades don't come in this package. Go get one off the wall and show me. She hesitates and says look the indicator strips are missing on these blades they are old. The other employee grabbed the blade and said no they are on the other side they are right here these aren't old. Old RainX blades, the indicators turn yellow, these were dark black. I told her don't take it back now you're accusing me of trying to defraud autozone, go pull one off the wall and show me these aren't the same ones. She goes over and pulls them off the wall brings them back pulls them out then she compares them. I told her before we go any further, I expect an apology for your behavior. She says you're not getting one because you gave me one first. I laughed and said ok. She decides she wants to return them now and asks for my phone number. I told her I don't feel comfortable giving you my number. She says then you're not returning them. You own them! I said fine type in any number you want 123-4567 I don't want my phone number in the system she said to bad you own them. I asked for her name and she told me Heidi. I talked to the other employee to the side on my way out and he apologized and I asked if she was a manager he said yes she is one of them. I could tell he was taking a neutral standpoint and didn't want to step on any toes or cause any awkward tension by taking sides at work so he kind of just let it go made a facial expression to me letting me know she was in the wrong and he couldn't believe it either. I was with my girlfriend during all this and she thought I knew the girl from outside the store or something based on how rude she was and I told her I have no idea who she is or why else would I ask her her name? Furthermore, Heidi contradicts herself based on her accusations. She is accusing me of trying to return old blades but yet, why would I be buying the same exact odd length blades of a different brand if I already had new ones returning the old ones? Maybe for next year? Maybe for another car? I have better things to do than waste my time playing with windshield blades.
There are always 2 sides to every story then there is the truth. That's not the case here. If you were standing there, you would of seen this exact thing go down.
I feel I owe it to anyone else that shops there to watch out for this lady. I made a call to the regional manager and explained what happened.
Anyone else have a problem with her? Or is she just having a bad day? Regardless her behavior is unwarranted and inexcusable!
The other managers and staff like Phil and such are great! It's really to bad this lady is employed here because after shopping there for over 10 years, this is my first issue ever and could not believe how I was treated considering most the people in there know me on a first name basis. read more
