NO CLAIM TO BE PASTURE-RAISED, FREE-RANGE, EVEN VEGETARIAN FED, OR NON-GMO.

I live in Northern CA and had my chicken order shipped. The chicken didn't look right, smell right, or taste right. It came frozen, of course, and packed with lots of blood -- liquid that 'cheats' the amount of chicken you are actually getting -- which is also gross and not like any other purchase of chicken I have ever made. The color of both the defrosted AND cooked chicken has this greyish tint, which is also something I've never seen in any other organic and/or non-GMO fed, free range or pasture-raised, poultry. The label on the packed chicken with blood SAYS NOTHING about being pasture-raised, or free-range, or vegetarian-fed, or non-GMO feed. NOTHING. If it's not claimed on the label, it's probably not true. Whatever claims Autonomy Farms makes on the website, or at local farmer's markets, they don't put it on their label. Buyer beware. One reviewer noted the owner bringing the business back after flooding. My guess would be that compromises have been made to make that possible, compromising the wellbeing of customers being sold substandard chicken. I can't believe they sell this quality of chicken at the Santa Monica Farmer's Market. I grew up in west LA and have been to the Santa Monica Farmer's Market dozens of times. It tends to draw discerning customers with informed standards. I really don't know how Autonomy Farms is surviving with this poor a product. Although I love to support woman-owned businesses, it was my first order with Autonomy Farms and it is definitely my last. Awful, awful chicken!

The local farmer's market scene has done a great job over the last several years of introducing our community to some amazing vendors. From the market we've gotten to know and love the delicious produce out of Autonomy Farms. We originally signed up for the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) box. If you're unfamiliar with the concept, you basically commit to purchasing a box of produce every week that is put together with seasonal offerings. While this sometimes means you may eat a LOT more squash than you might normally, it's a fantastic introduction to seasonal and local eating, and proved to be an amazing way for my husband and I to break out of cooking ruts. When we signed up, we were put on the CSA email list, which is sent out every week with the contents of the box and recipe suggestions for how to use some of the produce. (Last summer we discovered we're HUGE fans of shishito peppers!) Each week also comes with a meat item or dozen eggs. It rotates each week, and on the meat weeks we received everything from bacon sausages to homemade chorizo. Autonomy also has a meat box, and of course their weekly meat and vegetable options at the local markets. All of the meat we've received has been delicious - I'm eagerly awaiting hosting Christmas dinner next year just so I can treat me guests to one of their prime ribs! As can be expected, the meat is pricier than you'd find in the grocery store, but worth the splurge. Last but not least, Autonomy staff has always been exceptionally friendly, working with us to delay the produce box for an extended period when our schedule changed, and quickly communicating whenever we needed to make a substitution. I look forward to their upcoming expansion to their new farm space to see what new items they can bring in. If you've stopped by the weekend markets and not hit up Autonomy, it's not one to miss!

I understand to keep the crowd controlled and make sure the farm doesn't get trampled. The weather was perfect so we took our time, walked to the back of the rows and moved forward as we picked. They were red and beautiful, grabbed our baskets once they were full and headed back. He did buy some strawberries and honey comb inside the Little Purple Barn. You do have to come early for the pies, there may not have any later in the day. The cherry picking is only on the weekends.

If you decided to pick fruit you pay by the pound at the end which is reasonable but the fee per person just to walk around seemed on the high end. They have goats, chickens, peacocks, a variety of birds, chickens and roosters and cool art displays. We saw signs for paintballing and hayrides though I didn't see any wagons operating. The main reason we stopped was to try the Okie Pies. I had never heard of them and I am always looking to try new things. They remind me of a large empanada or handheld meat pie. We tried 3 savory and 1 dessert Okie Pie. They were out of blueberry so we settled for Apple and it was good but super sweet. I love desserts and unless you're a diehard apple pie fan you may find this to be too sweet. Savory flavors were salsa verde, chicken pot pie, and blueberry BBQ pork. The blueberry BBQ sounds odd but it was everyone's favorite. Everyone was very friendly and there was even someone who let the kids pet the goats and roosters. We'll stop on the way back home for more blueberry BBQ Okie Pies.

If you then press "2", you get another recorded message that says "Extension [another 5 digit number] is an invalid entry. Thank you for calling", and you are then disconnected! HP Sauce is the main brand. I stopped in on afternoon Saturday the 7th. First impression was similar to the Asia market on White Lane, maybe less cluttered, more like a small supermarket. Walking the isles I didn't see it. To make sure I asked a stock clerk. He was friendly, hadn't heard of HP Sauce but walked me to where it might be. No luck. I didn't want to leave empty handed so brought an apple soda in a clear plastic can shaped like an aluminum can up to the register. I guess they took those earlier negative reviews to heart. The cashier, a man in his 40s or 50s, was so friendly. Joking with me in a dad joke way then gifting me a little morsel on my way out.
