Great company. Very helpful in showing how to use app. Very neat and knowledgeable on the system.

My16x8 garage door with a Torquemaster plus tension/torsion spring broke on a Sunday night with icy and snowy weather. I had closed the door and shortly after hear a loud, awful sound. When I tried to open the door again, I quickly stopped the door because the motor wasn't lifting it (saving from burning the motor up). However, my cars were stuck in the house as the door without tension weighs too much to lift. I called AOD when they opened Monday morning, and despite several staff members having to be off due to the icy weather (understandable), the owner Gary, Sr. took my call around 8:30 Monday. Later that morning, Chris, who normally does installs, not repairs, arrived and had brought the correct parts. He may have been one of the few who could get on the road that day. He worked quickly, and efficiently. The Torquemaster systems can be very dangerous to work on unless you know what you are doing, Chris handled the repair with ease, adjusted my door settings, and had me up in running in relatively short time. Given the weather ( I was nervous I would be waiting for days), the circumstances of me being "stuck" and the professional work, I was very pleased with the price. It wasn't cheap, but it wasn't unreasonable. After all, I use my garage door as my main entry, with kids, it goes up 10 times a day. I was treated with the upmost respect, both Gary, Sr. and Chris treated me as if I was their only customer- the way a family owned business should be. I recommend this company. read more

Automatic Overhead Door - Garage Door Services Near Me - Fredericksburg, Virginia

Called on a recommendation from my neighborhood. Called and Technician was here in less than an hour. Jeff the technician was amazing. Very polite. Very knowledgeable. Fixed my 3 issues in no time. Rates were reasonable. $86 for an hours work plus some parts. Jeff knows his work and it was worth every penny. The staff in the office that I called were great. Very polite. She saw my address matched a call the technician was on and got ahold of him and he was here in 15 minutes. Taking my payment was easy. Would give 6 stars if I could, instead I'll settle for the max of 5 Stars. read more

My father has Parkinson's. He made an appointment with AO more than two weeks ago for a broken spring he was told the technician would be there between 9am-12pm. I woke my dad up at 8am to help him get ready because needed to open another garage door to let him in ( to cold to leave it open) he also wanted to talk with the technician. My dad is a returning customer, AO installed the garage door when they build the house and has had several springs replaced by them throughout the years. @ 12:30 my dad calls the office. He is told by the women who answered the phone that the tech would be there in 35 mins. @1:30 the same women said it would an hour to an hour in a half. My dad has been sitting at the table watching the driveway so he can open the other door. I am furious when I hear the women on the phone say 35 more minutes. Are you shitting me? How can the women who answers the phone, schedules the technician and not know where they are? Unbelievable. To tell my dad an hour to 35 mins each time he calls is BS and clearly a lie that she spouts out when clients call asking where their technicians are. She should have been honest and said we have no clue, give customers a 12 hour window because they are not capable of communicating with each others through out the day. Our final call was placed around 4pm the technician, Gavin said that he didn't if he had the spring in his truck .. wha.. WHAT? He said because my dad was an add on that he didn't pack the spring. Yes, he was added on ..2 weeks ago. Then he said that they told him it was a different garage door and he loads the truck at the warehouse in the morning for the day. He would have to come back tomorrow because he just got a call from the office that there was a accident on rout 3 and it was going to take him an hour and a half half to get back to the office. At this point I'm beyond mad. The spring is pretty standard he should have several on his truck. Had they looked up past service calls they would know exactly what type of springs he had. I guess there still using paper appointment books and have no way of keeping track of their customers. He said he had to come back this way again because he didn't have the right part for the customer before my dad. Business 101is to do the job right the first time and not have to come back. But this is not how they do-business. I tell Gavin that I want my dad to be the first call tomorrow since my dad had been waiting almost 8 hours. I give him my cell# and he says he will call me but it won't be before 9:30. Do you want to guess who called me this morning,,, yep, the woman in the office and she tells me that I am the third job on Gavin's list. He be there around noon. HOLLY SPRINGS!!!! I tell her about yesterday but she already knew that because she's the one that stung my dad along all day. No apologies, no nothing. Gavin called at 11:30 and said he was here. I think the office is a shit show. I'm gonna put the spotlight on women in the office . Yes, you sweat heart. The elephant in the room is you. read more

Great customer service and workmanship ! We use our garage door several times per day, so when the spring broke we called immediately. Automatic Overhead Door had their technician at our house at 9:30 the next morning. He explained everything and did a very thorough job - even fixing our keypad that hadn't been working. We will definitely use Automatic Overhead Door for any services or upgrades in the future. read more

I had one of my two older garage door openers acting up after I had replaced a broken gear drive shaft on it (parts from Amazon). I am fairly handy with home repairs but could not get this unit to stop in the "door closed" position. After having a very polite and responsive tech try to fix it (without success), I spoke to Gary (Jr) at Automatic Overhead Door on Lafayette Rd. He was very smart/experienced on all garage door openers and asked me some very specific questions on my repair of the drive shaft. He immediately recognized that some additional parts (bushings) also needed to be changed during the shaft repair (which the garage door parts company did not note). He volunteered to come immediately to the house and repaired the unit (which was deemed unrepairable) for around $100 bucks, and it now works like new. Gary is a can-do guy and a refreshing professional who is not out to sell you items you don't need. In fact, when I concluded that maybe I did need him to install a new unit, he refused and said he'll fix the older one for much less. I truly wish there were more business professionals like him and his staff - who are also very responsive and professional!!!! DO NOT USE ANY OTHER REPAIR SHOP but AOD of Fredericksburg on Lafayette Rd. read more

This review is for one of the office staff at AOD, not to be confused with those who answer the phones or schedule calls. I spoke to a man to report a problem about my garage door which failed to function properly after one of their techs installed a part. I asked them to come out and adjust it. After explaining this to the woman who answered the phone, she passed my call to this man who started with "what do you want?" Mind you, we've never met, as if this is how any conversation should start to a customer. Letting that go, I explained the problem to him and he immediately said "you clearly don't know how to use your garage door," followed by " you clearly haven't had a garage long for very long." Keep in mind, this is all within the first 2-3 sentences of him getting on the call. This conversation continued with similar belittling remarks and zero willingness to even talk about the problem. And news flash, customers expect to be able to push their garage door button and for the door to go all the way up or all the way down. Pretty simple operation, though he seemed to struggle with the concept that any function outside of these norms meant that something is wrong, and more, get this, he and his company were getting paid to fix it. I asked if it was unreasonable to expect the door to work after his tech just serviced it and he said, "if we come out again, we're going to charge you" completely avoiding the fact that AOD was hired to do a job, paid, and the door didn't work properly after the service. 100% of the conversation from start to finish was entirely rude, inappropriate and completely out of line. Representing his company, he also failed to live up to any reasonable quality of service or warranty for that service. Simple politeness and respectfulness was completely out of reach. This is a guy who couldn't care less about much of anything other than being extremely combative and disrespectful over a fairly simple issue even vocalized by the OAD technician as something that might happen at the time of service. Bottom line here - AOD has incapable technicians and the company doesn't stand behind its subpar work. Further, this full-on clown show who represents AOD should be immediately fired for being the most unapologetically rude representative of the company lacking any customer service skills whatsoever. If you'd like your garage door to work, have it serviced by anyone else. Strongly recommend going with any other company. read more

I called automatic overhead door after getting a recommendation from a coworker. When I called at 8AM on a Monday expecting to hear that it would be a couple of days before they could come out and do an estimate, they told me to my surprise they could be out in the next few hours to check it out. Within the hour I received a call that a tech was at my home waiting to diagnose the problem and asked if they could proceed. I gave them the ok and to my amazement, the tech was gone before I got home and my garage door was working perfectly. I called to get the total and it was only $86 after a quote of $91. That was amazing service and done in a flash. read more

Our twenty year old home was in need of new garage doors. The original doors were water stained and rotting and were in pretty poor shape. I got numerous quotes from nearby Garage Door carriers (including Home Depot and Lowes) and no one could compare to people from Overhead. Jeff came out to do a visual inspection of the current doors and gave me a list of options for replacement. He was nice and very knowledgeable. Everyone I talked to was really nice and at no point did they try and up sell me on anything nor did I ever feel any pressure from them. The quote was the cheapest in the area and made it easy to say yes. Charlie came out and did the install. Charlie was one of the nicest people I've had the pleasure of meeting. We talked off and on throughout the day and it was a pleasure having him here replacing our garage doors. From start to finish, Charlie did everything right and we couldn't be happier with the final product. I highly recommend them and will recommend them to everyone I know. read more

I purchase a Genie opener from Lowes and AOD installed the unit. Installation was great, but the unit had a couple of issues. The very next day they returned and did not leave until it was working correctly. The problems was nothing to do with the installation. If you need a garage door opener I cannot recommend high enough. Great job and Thank You! read more

We had a temperamental garage door that was opening only part way and left us locked out of our house. While on the phone they talked me through some methods to get it open and then came out on a service call the following Monday. I was expecting the worst since I was kind of at their mercy, but instead of soaking me for a new motor or spring they concluded it was an adjustment to the sensitivity and some greasing of the rails ... cost me less than $100 ... pleasure to work with these guys. read more

Called this company after calling Legmans Garage Doors, who never showed up! A very nice service guy showed up gave me an amazing price ($205 to replace both garage springs) and he completed the job in about 30 minutes. Great service and dependable people. read more

We were having issues with our door/opener and called them last week. After talking to them over the phone they knew the problem and scheduled an appointment for a few days later. I also talked about replacing the opener with a belt system (quieter and ours is 15 years old) so they quoted me for that and would replace it during the appointment. Day of the appointment they show up and we talk through the issues and replacing the unit. He assured me the unit should still be fine (I called the manufacturer when we had the issues and they said we should replace it) and he said fixing the spring should help quiet the unit down. He quickly took care of that and when we heard how quiet it was we decided to not worry about replacing the opener at this time. I'm not sure if others would have been so honest or willing to share their experiences but we definitely appreciate it. I know who to call next time we have an issue or want to replace opener. read more

Great, prompt, expert service at the best price in town. I was able to get an appointment within one day of my call. My installation posed unusual, special challenges requiring extra time and parts, yet the technician completed the job at no extra charge. read more

Lift spring on my mother's garage door broke through the night. Called Automatic Overhead Door Company first thing in the morning, 9 am. On the phone, I was very pleased with the service that was given. Garage door mechanic showed up early afternoon on the same day, 1 pm. The gentleman was very friendly and professional, he had all the parts to get the door fixed and was in and out in 45 minutes. The door works better than ever! No more noise and hesitations while lifting, smooth and easy! I would be more than willing to refer Automatic Overhead Door Company to anyone that needs their services! read more

Kurt did a fast and good inspection on my garage door. Oiled everything. Told me what to expect as the door ages.

I contacted Liftmaster regarding warranty work on a gate operator and was directed to Automatic Overhead Door Company to receive the part as Liftmaster would only send it to a dealer. Automatic overhead door charged me a $25.00 convenience fee, which I paid. Then they charged me a $107.00 fee that was to be refunded when I returned the old part to them for free shipping back to liftmaster. I received and installed the new part and took the old part to Overhead door. GARY refused to return my check for $107.00. He refused to return the old part to Liftmaster. In his words "I'll sit on it forever". That is exactly what he has done. For no reason. I guess the next stop is small claims court because the Better Business Bureau does not care and Liftmaster does not care about who is representing them as a dealer. What a terrible attitude and poor customer service. I would recommend everyone STAY AWAY from automatic overhead door. I'll let you know what happens in small claim court. read more

Needed a repair on a door they installed. Took weeks to get it done and then only after I called. It took some prodding to even get an apology. They charged my credit card before doing the work and needed three trips and an extra fee to finally fix it. BBB here I come. read more

I called first thing at 8:00 am on Friday as my garage would not open prior to that. After pulling out the instruction manual and calling the 800 number for Liftmaster, it routed me to this company. I asked what was the soonest they could come after calling around to a few places and they said they would try to get to me on the same day. I had asked for a 10 min notice so I could get home to meet them. They honored that request and sent over 2 techs to take a look and although they were assigned to commercial and not residential, they diagnosed the issue and went to get a part. Since I needed to get back to work quickly, they had someone deliver the part to them halfway from their office. This was quick and efficient and I thank them for responding quickly as I have never had that kind of service at all in this small town. read more

Huge thank you shout out to Automatic Overhead Door!!! They came out this morning and fixed our garage door that we could not get open. It was awesome that they were there answering the phones a 8:00AM (after the 2016 Blizzard that struck us this weekend) They are family owned and operated doing business the old school way with honor and integrity. Thank you, thank you!! They will not charge for more then needs to be done. It is very refreshing to do business with people you can truly trust to take care of what needs to be taken care of. This is not the first time we have had to call on their company. The first was many years ago to install an automatic door opener that was still working beautifully after almost 20 years (when we moved). This time it was to fix what was not done correctly by a different company when our home was built. We could have called them but really wanted someone we felt we could trust. Thank you again for being there for our family!! read more

We purchased two garage doors 4 years ago. One door never really worked very well. They were very nice on the phone and came out the first three times to make repairs. That was within the first 6 to 8 months. Door still not working . On the fourth attempt- it was hard to get them to come out and fix the door under warranty. Finally they came out repair door and within three weeks it stopped working again. I was told after that there would be service call charges. Well after three years of manually opening the door and really never having a working garage door , we are going to replace it with a new unit and now looking for another company.
