This was really not great as i must drive to Iowa for a funeral Friday. I got home, emailed Gary and asked if there was ANY way I could get in Monday, explaining my situation. As always Gary was kind and responsive (and, I later learned, ON VACATION) and told me to bring it Monday morning. I brought it in and Anthony and John and team could not have been more helpful. They quickly diagnosed the issue and had the fix done and my car ready to go end of day Tuesday. Autohaus is a small shop that has heart and skill. The initial conversation was nice, they were upfront with the price and I felt it was a solid offer. Dropped my car off, got four new tires, new control arm and tie rod among a few other issues. They were accommodating at first and got my car done in a good amount of time. They told me up front they were replacing a cap and would need to order it which was fine. After a week I called and they told me to call back in a few days, so I did. Called back, they said they forgot and to give them another week. I did. Called back a week later and they told me to drop off my car on Saturday. I waited, called on Friday just to confirm and they told me they forgot again and they needed to get a hold of the guy who was supposed to order it, to call back. Waited a few days and the guy never ordered it so I was told to wait another week. I did. Called back and they needed to get a hold of the guy again. Now, I started to get a wee bit annoyed, not once did they call me first or provide any kind of update throughout. Not only that but every time I called they asked me what part I was looking for. After a month of waiting, I called on Friday around 5:30pm, I was told to come in on Saturday morning at 8:30am. That it would be fast and I would be out of there in like 20 minutes. I did. When I arrived they asked me why I was there, that the guy who knew about my part was out and not due for another two hours or so but I could leave my car. So I was set to wander about for a few hours with my 5 month old daughter, in 20 degree weather, until whoever woke up. There was zero communication between the team members. The initial guy there that morning tried calling the other guy who was supposed to work on my car but said he wouldn't answer, the initial guy also said he didn't work at that shop anymore, even though he did last week, and couldn't help. After seeing I was starting to get a bit annoyed, they guy who was supposed to work on my car magically answered the phone, finally arrived after a good hour or so and fixed my car. I get it, we all try to cover for our coworkers, but you can really tell when someone is not exactly telling the truth, when they keep looking away from you and passing the blame. He then, after assuring me if I did all this work on my car it was "good to go for some time", showed me that the front axles needed to be replaced, said he'd charge me full price for the part but knock off $50 for the installation for my troubles over the past month. Look, I get things can go wrong and can happen at any time but I would guess if you were to go over my car, this would be something you noticed the first time. My car wasn't driven much over the last month. Maybe I'm just a bit more suspicious because of the way they had been dealing with me over my time with them. Just felt like they were trying to make it look like they were doing me a favor by charging me more money. Like $50 off was supposed to make me feel better after having to chase them for a month and leave me standing outside for hours. All in all it was very frustrating experience, the team just didn't seem like they cared. They seemed to keep trying to divert the blame onto each other each time I called. This person wasn't in and they were responsible, that person was responsible but forgot, told me to be there at a time and made it seem like it was my fault I was there... Looks like I'm the outlier here in reviews and it's not something I shoot for. I also get that Covid has taken a toll on a lot of businesses, being short staffed and busy is something I'm very accommodating of as I'm part of that world myself. That only works so much though, this was a full month of me having to constantly chase them and then just end up being lied to and disregarded in the end. With all that being said, there's so many mechanics in the city and I would steer clear of here and the headache they brought. read more

Had a connection issue with my tail light that I just couldn't get figured out myself. I swung by AutoHaus after seeing the friendly reviews. It took them about 2 minutes to get my light back on. No connection issues, no faulty wires, nothing needed but an apparent magic touch. I asked what I owed them but they insisted it was no trouble. Very happy with the service I received here. They were willing to take a quick look at my car for no cost! I was doing a road trip when my car started occasionally shaking it's tires. I felt nervous while driving, so I took a stop around Chicago. After googling, I found this place nearby. They were happy to take a quick look at it for free, in between the other appointments they were already doing. They reassured me that my car was not falling apart and advised me on a couple places in the tire structure when I have time in the future for an actual car appointment. It's a BMW X3, I had the vehicle towed to Elmhurst BMW and they told me I need a new or rebuilt engine. WTF!!! They quoted me $13,000.00 to repair the vehicle with a rebuilt engine. I just bought the vehicle from Continetial Acura in Naperville. Don't buy a vehicle from them. I called Auto Haus and they quoted half the price that BMW was going to charge me. Came in for an oil change, a little bit later than my scheduled appointment but they still accepted me! As I was checking in there was a woman oblivious to any appointment operations that i knew was just going to be a hard time for them. As i finished checking in, they said it was going to be 45 min so i went for a coffee break to return to my car still not being worked on because that same woman was giving them such a hard time. I did have to wait another 45 min, however they ended up comping my oil change. As a business owner myself, i know that every situation is never perfect but how they overcome small problems is the determining factor of doing business with them again. Anthony helped me in 2022 when all four tires and rims were stolen off of my new 22 Honda Civic, he billed my insurance directly so I wasn't out of pocket for the $1000, So I never was short of my own pockets during this whole ordeal. 2 years later and I thought I lost the rim lock key for the locks he also installed and when I called him to figure out what my next steps were he was ON IT! I am so incredibly grateful for Gary and the AutoHaus staff! My car needed replacement tie rods and was unsafe to drive. I called on Friday and Gary was able to squeeze in an appointment for me on Monday morning which was the fastest out of all the places I called. I dropped off my car this morning with no issues and there was free street parking on W Berteau Ave. Gary even took the time to speak with me at the drop-off and called me with an update during the repairs. I'm impressed by how quickly they're able to work on my car and will be able to pick it up in a couple of hours. I really wanted a cat shield for my Toyota Corolla hybrid due to the increase in theft of hybrid cat converters. I researched around and found that dealerships were charging a kidney for the Millercat shield and labor. I did a yelp search and a lot of places wouldn't help install if I brought the part.
