I've got to be perfectly honest, when Antonio took my car in it didn't look good. He explained in detail what was wrong with the vehicle and what he would do in my situation. Honestly it broke my heart to hear him say that my bill would be close to $5k. But to my surprise this guy felt bad for me and my situation and because I'm a veteran and at the moment working with homeless vets. He spoke to his people and got my price down to a little over $2k. I guess the real important thing to take from this was how I was treated! I'm 64 yrs old and have had my share of encounters with auto repair shops. They treated me the way it used to be with honesty and integrity and respect! I didn't have to call them, they would call me with updates, even though I was impatient at times they were still very professional with me. This is hands down the best car repair shop in Chicago. I've taken my car there for brake work, a new Cadillac converter, and a new radiator. They are always very friendly and get the work done within a day for a fair price. Brought my car in today with an oil leak. The leak was unusual, because the car was serviced by a different repair shop up in Lincoln Square just one month ago. When I tried to schedule a follow up with that other shop to fix the issue, they were cagey and said that they weren't confident that they could even address the leak. I then called up Autohaus, and they were able to see me the next business day. They immediately identified the other shop's screw up and took care of it that day. Not sure why Gary K took down is request for me to call him to resolve this issue, but I will response anyway. Gary the only way that you can make this right is to reimburse me for the replacement cost of the control arm. The Toyota Service department that replaced the right control arm assures me that there is no way this type of metal corrosion is possible in 7 months on a new part. That most likely this was not a new part but a refurbished used part. Also they shared with me that if this was a legit part there should still be a warranty on it. What about that Gary, who was the supplier of this part. If you want to supply me with that info I will contact them to get some resolution to this. Whoever the responsibility of the part failure lies with, this needs to be address so that this isn't a safety issue for the general public. Here it goes. I went to AutoHaus because of the positive reviews and I wanted to support a local shop versus the dealership. In the online reviews, there was a trend of good customer service and honesty. With the shop a walkable distance from my home it seemed like a great opportunity to try them out. All I needed was an oil change and likely a recharge of my AC as it wasn't blowing cold air properly. I made the appointment for Friday morning at 8am. When I got there, they said it'd be ready in a couple hours. Full transparency, I would've appreciated a heads up when I made the appointment that this type of service required a few hours and was not a shop where I'd be able to sit and wait for the service to be completed. Luckily I didn't need my car all day so not really a big deal, but it was something I could have benefitted from knowing up front. Moving forward, I give them a call around 2:30pm to get an update on when I can expect to pick up my car (my car has now been there for 6.5 hours and I haven't heard from them). They answer and inform me they haven't started anything with the car yet as they are short staffed. If I wanted, they could and would do the oil change within 30 mins, but would likely need more time for the AC issue. Now I'm a bit frustrated. If they had gotten in front of the situation and reached out to me first to let me know they couldn't get to my car until later in the day, it would have been a nonissue-- I'm a reasonable person and would have understood. But, the lack of communication and transparency with their processes made me lose trust. I let them know I'd prefer to just pick the car up, we can forget about the service, and let bygones be bygones. Gary (the owner, I believe) wanted to make it right, and truthfully I desperately want to like these guys so I hear him out and we decide to move forward. He calls once the oil change is done and the AC issue is fixed and lets me know of a couple other issues I should keep an eye on. I appreciate that he did not push for the services to be completed immediately, but still informed me that it should be addressed at some point within the next month or so. I am writing this review to help set expectations for the next person. I do still believe these guys to be honest, do solid work, and prices seem to be accurate for services--but they are doing a disservice to themselves and their customers by not putting an emphasis on communication too. I plan to visit this shop one more time to see if I can change my review from 3 stars to 5. Stay tuned. read more

I'm tired of getting ripped off so I decided to go somewhere that I felt trustworthy people live and work; German town! I hadn't driven my 2002 Audi A6 4.2 in six months because it was leaking coolant; I was hoping it wasn't something major. I called AutoHaus and they said to take it right in as they had availability. They diagnosed the problem: a faulty radiator cap!!! Something like $10. Can you believe it? I was prepared to spend $1000 (but really can't afford it), and here they come back with that. I also noticed a Christian Cross hanging above the register, and I complimented them on it. I'm hooked. An honest, Christian repair shop. Definitely going here every time I need work done on my car. My experiences here were so-so, which was sad because of all the awesome reviews I saw on Yelp. My husband and I really wanted to support a family-run business like this. I'll mention the pros and cons here. Background: I bought a used car last year and brought it in for an inspection and tune-up and a few repairs. Pros: -They did a good job catching some repairs for the car and completing them. The pricing was pretty competitive. Cons: - when I bought the car, it had brand new but cheap breaks/rotors on the wheels. AutoHaus was pressuring me to replace them before my road trip saying things like "I wouldn't want my wife or daughter driving through the Appalachian mountains with those breaks." Scared me pretty bad but I decided not to pay the $300 and researched on my own. I have now taken 6 road trips through the Appalachian mountains without any problems on these cheap breaks. Sure, they squeak and will probably wear out sooner than premium brakes/rotors, but the situation was a lot less scary than the guys at Autohaus made it sound. Summary: Despite the fact that they seemed to do a good job on the tune-up and some repairs, I felt like I was being pressured into unnecessarily replacing breaks/rotors. I felt like they used fear-tactics right before my road trip, maybe because I was a woman? Because of this, I won't be returning to Autohaus for repairs in the future. read more

Came in to do what I thought was a minor AC Recharge while spending some time in the city and found out that I needed the AC compressor replaced. The unexpected repair was more than what I was planning on and have to head back out of town or I would have done the work with them. But, Xavier was kind enough to take the time to complete a diagnostic prior to doing anything and didn't charge me for it. Other places would have charged the $150-200 for the recharge and THEN told me about the compressor. I went to AutoHaus for a second opinion after getting a somewhat ridiculous quote from another autoshop regarding several issues with my vehicle. Met Anthony and the crew, and they finished checking the vehicle for free within 20 mins - comparing to the other dishonest shop taking 2.5 days and charging $250 for the checkup and providing completely incorrect info about my vehicle. Anthony walked me through all the details about the issues, parts needed to be replaced, labor cost etc. and I ended up getting the all issues fixed and saved more than $3,500 dollars.
