Can't even be present when I pick it up to shake my hand or say thank you?? Yeah, fuck that guy. Had I not liked the car so much? I would've NEVER completed the purchase with these d bags. The cooling system started to glitch out (fan not kicking on, and therefore overheating when not moving). Did a quick search from the road, and called ahead while limping in. When I explained what was going on and asked if he could look at it in the morning (the day before 4th of July and everyone shutting down from Thursday-Sunday), he didn't miss a beat, and said, "Yeah, we have those parts." I had it at the shop at opening, and his team dove right in. Found and replaced a cracked coolant expansion tank, replaced a sensor, confirmed fan was working, filled and bled the coolant system, and then I got to go on a ride-along test ride with Norm, who gave me a master's class in Vanagon voodoo. He has been a VW mechanic since he was 15, and his love for restoring and keeping these things going is infectious. Gave me his card and said call if anything came up, and when the van overheated again idling near destination, I called him again. He agreed to meet me back at the shop on Friday (the 5th, a day he had planned to have off). He went at it again, and this time discovered the thermostat wasn't opening, so no coolant was flowing to the radiator, and so would not get hot and kick on the fan. He replaced the thermostat, and ran it through the paces to make sure it would behave this time. He saved my bacon, and got family safely back on the road. A fount of knowledge, a love of classic car culture (hosts a car show every year), great mechanic team, and super fair pricing. Even if I don't need a thing, next time we're in town, I will be stopping by to say hi.

This review is long overdue but these guys are amazing!…read more A few months ago I was visiting WA on a business trip and had to get out to Montesano for work so I borrowed a friend's car for a few hours. On my drive out there, the car started giving me trouble. Originally, I thought it was just the battery but it turns out it was also the alternator. I barely made it to the shop and was told it would be hours, if not a day, before I would get my car back. I almost cried. I didn't know anyone in Elma and had to be back in Seattle that evening to make my flight. The guys at the shop did everything they could to get me back on the road within a few hours and even lent me their car so that I could drive to Montesano and get my work done. I was back in Seattle that afternoon and was able to get on my flight back home. I will forever be grateful to everyone at this shop who helped me out. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

My salesman, Gary, was courteous, polite, and clearly worked hard to get me the best deal possible. The pricing in Aberdeen seems very competitive--honestly some of the best I've seen. They made a real effort to put together a deal, and although we ultimately didn't come to an agreement, that was more on me for aiming a bit higher than they could go. Their offer was already quite strong, so I have no complaints there. Throughout the entire process, I was treated with respect and professionalism. I'd definitely recommend giving them a try if you're in the market--they're a dealership that genuinely works to earn your business.

Buyer Beware - Disappointed Long-Time Toyota Owner…read more I have driven Toyota vehicles my entire life. Every Toyota I've owned has lasted over 300,000 miles. I trust the Toyota brand deeply, which is why this experience with Five Star Toyota in Aberdeen has been so disappointing. We needed a reliable vehicle for farmers markets and decided to purchase a used 2015 Toyota Sienna from Five Star Toyota. The van had been their dealership service vehicle. They had two 2015 Siennas--one still in use and one that had been parked on their lot for about three years. Before purchasing, I specifically asked for maintenance records and was provided them. The battery had died due to sitting unused and was replaced. Most importantly, Service Manager Jayson Lockett told us there were "absolutely no leaks." That assurance was critical in our decision. In hindsight, there were warning signs. The salesperson even said that if he were me, he wouldn't buy this vehicle. I assumed he was referring to cosmetic issues (scratched hood paint, cracked leather seats, peeling rubber trim, etc.). I trusted the dealership's reputation, awards on the wall, and what I believed was the integrity of a large, established business. Shortly after driving the van home (a 3-hour drive), I discovered oil leaking onto my driveway. Two independent shops confirmed two separate leaks: * Axle seal * Timing cover gasket I made multiple 6-hour round trips back to Aberdeen. They repaired the axle seal after negotiation. For the timing cover gasket, dye was added. Later I was told the leak was just a loose drain bolt from an oil change elsewhere and that it had been "fixed." I was told it only counts as a leak if oil drips to the ground -- yet when I placed cardboard under the van, it continued to drip. After three long trips and extensive communication, I negotiated directly with the owner, Allen Erickson. He agreed in writing to reimburse $1,000 as goodwill if I completed repairs locally and signed a release. After I requested the goodwill release for signature, communication stopped and I have not received the reimbursement. The timing cover gasket repair estimate is over $4,000 at the dealer and about $2,800 at an independent shop, meaning I still need to invest a significant amount out of pocket. I understand used vehicles are sold as-is, and I accept that I cannot prove the leaks existed before purchase. However, it is difficult to understand how a vehicle described as having "absolutely no leaks" developed two separate leaks immediately after I drove it home. After multiple 6-hour drives and months of communication, I no longer wish to spend more time pursuing this. I am writing this review so others in the Aberdeen community can make fully informed decisions. I trusted the dealership's reputation and assurances. Unfortunately, my experience did not reflect that reputation. I hope future buyers carefully inspect any vehicle and obtain an independent inspection before purchase.
