AutoZone - Free loaner tool service apparently doesn't matter when it's actually needed and imperative. Then it's just extortion

Everyone is so lazy here, they barely can move their limbs and anything you ask them is a burden.read more

Absolutely rude and deplorable service. In a time in which we are in a crisis it is imperative to…read morehave a reliable working vehicle. It's pretty interesting that are multiple occasions if your engine throws a code you can easily walk in here and get the code check to see what's wrong. That being said with social distancing now in effect most stores are now giving you the code reader and having you bring it back in. Which is completely acceptable and two other locations have done it for me during this pandemic. The benefit is then you can go into their store and spend money to fix your vehicle especially to keep it running during this unique time we are all living in. Which makes this even more insulting. After walking in individual made eye contact and did not even acknowledge my presence. and walked in the back after waiting about 4 minutes and having to walk down and say hello again the same individual walked up and stated I'm the only one here. Then why would you walk away from your only customer? that's poor customer service during normal times and evidently you weren't walking away to pull a part. After stating the problem he informed me I'm not leaving the store to use the code readers. I responded I completely understand and stated the other same corporate store gave the code reader to the customer and said come back in and we will find out what parts you need and you can buy the parts. His dismissive reply was don't know what to tell you we're not doing that here you can rent one for a $150 bucks and bring it back when you're done. I said I am parked at your front door in full View and only use it for under 1 minute. His dismissive response was essentially shoulder shrugs and repeated I'm the only one here , we're not doing that , you can rent one for a hundred fifty bucks. The best part and icing on the cake is there is a 2 ft tall by 3 ft wide placard on the front window saying free tool loan. This is basically tantamount 2 extortion and price gouging during a pandemic . If the other corporate stores have no problem doing this during the pandemic was he just going to pocket the $150 bucks? The fact that an employee's demeanor is that he cannot be put out to hand you a tool they typically give so that they can get a purchase of parts. Even after explaining that the other AutoZone a mile up the road was not handling it in this way. He did not care !! Suffice it to say I drove 1 mile up the road to the AutoZone next to Menards and they happily give me the code reader! It took one minute to plug into the car and brought it back in The clerk was extremely helpful I bought some other products that I needed and the only reason I didn't buy the rest of the parts is because they were not in stock. AutoZone shame on you for allowing customer service to be like especially when everyone is in crisis trying to have food on the table gas in their vehicles and reliable transportation. If you have the privilege of actually being so important to the local community the governor allows you to stay in business and make a profit because you are considered a essential service just makes this even worse just given the demeanor I'm sure it's not a one-time occurrence by this customer associate I will go out of my way to go to O'Reilly's in the future.

The dealership wanted me to make an appointment to come back and pay them $170.00 for a diagnosis. I told them that I believed some clips needed to be replaced and could I buy the clips from them and I would fix it myself ? The service agent said they did not sell the clips, but, they could sell me an entirely new trim piece that included the clips for $1000.00, plus labor if I wanted them to put it on. I declined. The next week I stopped at a body shop and got an estimate for $700.00. Crazy high for what I thought could be a simple fix. I declined. Later that month I was looking for a salvage part for mother's car. She needed a bumper after being victimized by a hit and run driver. I stopped by T&M Salvage just off Michigan Ave and met Simon and Shean. I found they do body work as well as sell auto parts so I had them check out my car and they gave me a very reasonable price to fix it. I took my car in and Shean worked on it for less than 20 minutes, installing 3 new clips. BOOM DONE !!!! EASY PEASY !!!! I am soooo impressed with Simon & Shean. It is so nice and refreshing to meet real, down to earth men, who possess the intelligence to fix things !!! Especially after dealing with techs, who can only replace parts for $$$$ and can fix nothing !!!! If you are looking for a part or fix on your car, and want an honest, intelligent opinion that makes sense, then go talk to Simon at T&M Salvage on Sheldon Rd, just off Michigan Ave !!!!!
