I swung by here earlier today and I must say that it was my easiest and quickest smog experience to date. I can't imagine anyone topping this establishment in speed and efficiency. I called in last minute for a smog test on my vehicle. They told me to drop by and that they could help me right away. I showed up 15 minutes later and was out the door in under 10 minutes. You would imagine that this type of speedy service would come at a premium, but no. Their prices are totally reasonable. To summarize: Fast and efficient service and the price is right. Great fast service! came for a smog check at 445PM and waited about 20 minutes. Actual smog check took maybe 10 mins?? It was great!

It pains me to have to write this review because we've always received great service from them. That was until yesterday. I expressed my sentiment and raved about how this location has always been great, so I referred my mother to them (yes, shop owners, you have to realize that people refer friends and relatives) because she was having issues with her car. She had the car towed to them and had a diagnostics run on it. They opened up the engine and told her that it would be an expensive repair, and recommended against it. She agreed and that's when the problems started. Simply put, they refused to put the engine back together properly. He quickly placed a major part on upside down and refused to place other parts back on all together(those parts are currently sitting on the drivers seat!). After she insisted that it get put on the right way, he reluctantly put it back on the engine in the proper orientation, but did not secure it, claiming that because she wasn't going to have it repaired that it wasn't necessary. He was all around very dismissive of her. Keep in mind that she's an older lady that spoke to them in their language. They need to realize that customer service needs to be consistent no matter the person's ethnicity, culture, or age. I feel like, had I brought the car in, the service would've been completely different and that I would've been treated with more respect because I'm a younger person that speaks English. To sum it up, they were completely disrespectful and had very poor customer service. I can't forget to mention that the lady at the front desk was accommodating and nice at least. RESPONSE TO OWNER: It was a PAID diagnostics. And this is the point that the mechanic and yourself must understand - SHE DID NOT AGREE OR WANT TO LEAVE IT DISASSEMBLED. She expected as well as any other person getting a car worked on (and wants it put back together), that the mechanic would reassemble it. It was only after she insisted repeatedly that he put it back together that he reluctantly did it. She shouldn't have to ask him to put it back to together for her. Junking the car was always an option for her. And after the diagnostics she agreed that it was too expensive to repair and junking it would be an option. But that would've been her decision to make after she was done at your auto shop. Not the mechanics decision. She wanted it put back together so she could weigh her options later. Your shop has always provided great service up until that point. I understand covering for your mechanic, but you shouldn't try to justify dismissive and bad customer service. read more

I took my car here for a smog check, it was painless in and out. Results were transmitted to DMV same day. Given the good experience, I took my 2nd car in for replacing a cracked wiper reservoir, which I bought online from bmw. Labor rates are reasonable, lot cheaper than having bmw do it. Hai (owner) showed me the parts he took out, with option to take it if I wanted. Strongly recommended for smog check and minor repairs. read more

2 years later, this place is still 5 stars! My age is starting to show because I completely forgot that my registration was due soon and I had no idea where I put the registration renewal docs. I tried to renew with the DMV online, but it showed I needed a smog check this year. I called Auto Smog to ask if they could still perform a smog check if I lost my renewal forms. He replied that they could get my license plate and VIN # off the car itself, so it should be no problem. Since I was in the area, I decided to head over and just get it done same day. He dropped what he was doing to pull my car in and complete the smog check. I kid you not, this time it was done even faster than last time. Five minutes tops! Went in to get smog test done at 10:30AM on a Saturday morning no appointment. Didn't really have much parking, but I think a tip for others is just to double park for now and go in and talk to them. Most likely they'll tell you exactly who do double park behind. So I go in, and fill out paper work (have your registration in hand, and the number on the odometer), it'll make filing out the paperwork faster. When I got there they were smog testing another car. I contemplated leaving, but after reading reviews, I decided to wait. Hai, the worker guy apologize for the 10 minute wait. hahaha wow. its kind of sad that consumers are so demanding these days. Then he pulled my car in and did the test in under 20 minutes. Smog test = $40 CC fee = $1 Don't complain about the CC fee guys. Visa and master card charge them around 2%. Most of our cards get us 1% cash back. All in all, I'm super happy and super surprised at how streamlined and quick this was. Before I left, he apologized for the wait again and told me my key was in the car (he moved it out of the garage). Recommended and will return next time I need a smog! read more

Oh my God! This place obviously has an issue with being overloaded with 'artificial reviews', as they are outright rude and get angry for no reason with their customers. I got a smog done and my car showed to have failed. When I tried to inquire why it had failed, the employees did not have a straight answer for me. I had noticed that the setup for the test was not right and tried to point it out to them (specifically, the wheels were not aligned with the rollers during the test - which tests emissions when the car is running with wheels running on the rollers). At this point while I was questioning, the owner (Hai) comes in and is downright rude and starts shouting at me. He proceeds to ask me leave, but I believe I have the right to know (a) why my car failed, and (b) if appropriate setup was indeed used for the test. read more

My car's brake and ABS warning lights were on all the time and autostick was locked (I needed to override it every time). I was afraid I may have to go to dealership eventually and pay $$$. I went to this place first because I have been there for many years, mostly for oil change, and I trust Hai because he had never overcharged. Hai fixed them on the same day, and charged me $170. I could not understand the technicality when he tried to explain to me my car's problems, but I am happily surprised and satisfied. read more

I definitely would recommend this place 100%. Customer service is great. My husband and I needed a smog check quick and based on positive reviews led us to come here and I'm glad we did. We drove up feeling a little discouraged with the lot full of cars thinking the wait time was going to be long. But as soon as we entered the garage Hai was there to greet us and said he could do a smog check for us right there and then. We had our test done less than 15 mins. Holy crap, I can't believe I didn't find this place sooner. I went during Covid because of the price, and waited about 7 minutes for the 1-2 cars in front of me to finish up. It was my turn, pulled up, got the smog check done and paid the tech and I was gone. Zero issues with DMV electronic cert and got my registration renewed. The only issue is parking can be a bit difficult, but I haven't seen it get too crazy. I guess it helps that more people are getting electric cars. read more

Quick and easy. They're ready for 99' and older cars that need a dyno. They also test pre 96' cars that don't have obd2. Very affordable at 50$ a smog and a nice clean office and friendly staff make this station miles better than the other options within a 10 mile radius, I know because I was turned away twice from said stations before coming here to find that Auto Smog is much nicer than either of the other two stations I went to, they being the one at the Chevron on homestead road and the one by De Anza Blvd called "Cupertino Pro Smog" where the owner smugly made it clear he wasn't interested in helping me out with my 80's car. Facts: 1. Made appointment for 9am on 12/1/20. Was told it would take about 2 hours to diagnose check engine light before smog check. 2. Arrived 9am and was told I needed to leave the car there because the were busy. 3. Car was there all day and they did not call me with status. 4. Came back at 9 am the next day (12/2/20) to find out what was happening. Found my car had been left outside all day and night with window down and keys in the ignition. 5. They also told me to wait one day before I go renew my car registration so as to make sure their result is transmitted to the DMV. This is by far the best Smog station I've been to. As a female I always hate going to any smog or car repair place because I feel like the shop will try to trick me. This place saved me from getting yelled by my mom twice!! I forgot to do a smog check for my car and really needed to get it done ASAP before my mom got impatient again. Luckily this place is right by De Anza College, so I immediately went there right after class. This auto-shop is tucked in between a neighborhood and it's small so keep a look out for it. When I arrived, one of the workers approached me and I told him what I needed done. He took over from there, so I sat down in a chair and waited less than 10 minutes before my car was returned to me. I have taken multiple company vehicles to this place because of the large bays. Previously the charge was $50.00 to Smog our Nissan High top vans. The Smog technician came out and asked if I knew how much this service was. I smiled and said" no". He proceeded to laugh and giggle the entire time after he demanded $100.00 american for a smog check. I thought to myself I have never paid anything near this amount for this service. I allowed the service to be performed, paid him, and left. I asked to see the receipt for the last service we had them do when I got back to the shop and YEP! DOUBLE what we paid last time. We have a fleet of trucks that need service regularly. I will never go back to this place ever again. If I could leave no stars I would. Laugh all you want to sir! Bad business is Bad business.
