It was very quiet and serene. So peaceful! - Location! It was perfect as far as being just far enough away from Williams that you weren't in the hustle and bustle. But close enough that you could just run down into the grocery store or all the different activities that are close. - History: if you're into history, all the different pieces and QR codes are really neat to look at. -Ice and laundry on site: easily available, very clean, and a nice environment while waiting for laundry to be done. Mixed Reviews: - Amenities: The kitchen has everything you need for short stay but not a lot of room to work. While cooking dinner, we had to move different things around just to have enough space to prepare a meal and cook it. The website also doesn't list out the amenities so it's hard to tell what the room will or will not come with to feel prepared. -Bed: My husband and I both said this is the worst bed we ever slept on. I know many of the reviews said that it was amazing and I think it comes down to your preference of mattress. It is a memory foam so we found that when we laid in one position, we sunk deep down into it and when you went to roll to your side, you got stuck in that divot. -AC: Boy does it get the room cold! I always run cold and was very uncomfortable. My husband always runs hot and loved it. So just depends on your preference. Mostly an issue because we couldn't get it to regulate to somewhere in the middle. - Couch: It looks super cute aesthetically! And it pulls out to a sleeper bed for extra room if you're coming with more people. We were trying to sit on it and watch a movie for a quiet night in and as soon as you sit on it, the bottom part rolls out from under you, wanting to go into sleep mode. We spent more time adjusting the couch than sitting on it, making it very uncomfortable. Cons: -Check Out: They expect you to wash the dishes you use. Thankfully, we brought our own sponges because the only cleaning item they give you is a bristle brush. They also ask that you bag and dispose of your own trash. Not a huge deal as the big dumpster is right next to where you drive out. Personally, I feel like these should come with part of the cleaning after you leave though. -Cleaning: You text the cleaner when you leave. While the main room and the bedroom are very clean, the bathroom was not. The toilet had a toilet ring and there was curly hair left on the bathroom floor when we arrived from the previous person. Overall, most issues are a preference thing. The couch and the bed were really the huge issue for us that would make it where we would not come back simply out of needing a good night sleep.

We recently discovered this charming, vintage motel along Route 66 in the small, quaint town of Ash Fork, AZ. The motel is aptly named Canyon's Edge Route 66 Motel. It's a great choice for adventurers visiting the Grand Canyon. Our large room was exceptionally clean and boasted a HUGE TV screen. Tired from a long day of driving? A friendly young lady named Patricia greeted us at the eclectic front lobby, sharing information and highlights of this small community. The coffee is great! Be sure to allow time to visit the wonderful Ash Fork Museum and Tourist Center next door. Stop in on a Monday or Tuesday and you may luck out in having Debbie as your extremely knowledgeable guide. There was a bit of a struggle getting the credit card machine to connect, and it all felt a little disorganized. We were in room 1, which is in the annex just off the patio, so it was easy to haul our luggage inside. The room we stayed in could have used a nightstand and a bedside lamp. We ended up using the chair as a bedside table. The toilet was also a little wobbly, which made us a bit nervous. No in-room fridge or microwave, but the staff let us know we could put food in the fridge and use the microwave. We had an early start the next morning, so did not have a chance to check out the breakfast. At $99/night, this seemed a little on the pricey side, especially in comparison to some of the other places I had researched and which we walked past while exploring the town.

The Jasmine room is just that, a room with an attached bathroom. I loved it. Quaint and lovely and comfortable. No AC but the ceiling fan and closed windows is enough to keep the room cool. The bathtub is protected by a curtain on a ring hanging from the ceiling. This is not load bearing! Do not use it to get in and out of the tub. All the shampoo, soap and bandages you could need are supplied. The hotel is a 5 minute drive from Williams. We picked up dinner, drinks and coffee there.

There is no A/C, the WiFi worked great. They have granola bars and other little snacks along with keurig coffee maker and pods available in the common rooms. Basic cable provided and two sitting chairs. If you have mobility issues, there is a ramp, but none of the stairs have hand rails. The claw foot tub is charming, but again mobility issues, there was a handrail on the wall next to the tub. The toilet was a standard toilet. Not a handicapped friendly property. The bed was not very comfortable at all. You are a short distance from the railroad so you hear trains a lot along with traffic from Rodeo Rd. I guess that's why they have ear plugs in the common room if you need them. Since there is a coffee maker it would be nice if they could add a microwave in the common area and some sort of fridge either in the rooms or in the common area. The location was in a neighborhood so you will hear dogs barking on occasion along with cats meowing.

The train ride takes about 2 and a half hours one way (significantly slower than simply driving). The presenter in our car spoke at length about a couple historical figures with regional significance. The musicians were silly, and there was a lot of dead time between their brief songs. The train robbery requires the train to stop partway through rather than continue along to the destination which makes the long trip even longer. We also appended the bus tour to the trip which also cut into our Grand Canyon viewing time. Overall, I spent about 5 and a half hours on this train and was only able to look at the Grand Canyon for about an hour. I would not recommend this option to see the Grand Canyon.
