Unfortunately this is the place that makes you not trust a non-dealership mechanic. After multiple years of patronage to this German and the Auto Analysts team, I got my car serviced at a different shop. Turns out, German and team were putting in after market parts, and charging me for the dealer version, which may I add is a $700 mark-up. I reviewed the service records and he even put in the part number for the more expensive dealership part - and then charged me for that price too. At least put in the after market part and just mark it up so the fraud isn't as outright blatant and egregious. They also used brakes that aren't to spec and didn't fit properly, which is a pretty scary thought considering that's one of the more important systems in your car. No more referrals from me, these guys totally lost my trust. Now anyone know a trustworthy, skilled mechanic that works on German cars? read more

I advise you to stay away from this dishonest business. The guy who quoted my 2001 Lexus RX300 almost $600 for brakes change. When the guy tried to explain the cost to me, instead of creating an invoice, he took a piece of scratch paper with other things written, and just wrote down the numbers. He didn't even look up parts or tell me how many hours it'll take. He tried to charge me almost $300 for labor and almost $300 for brakes parts. Sadly, this isn't a $300 labor job, and the parts definitely doesn't worth $300. I know the guy is in business to make a profit, but, there's a difference between making an honest profit versus straight up ripping off a customer. He couldn't properly explain what parts and how many hours he's charging me. He seemed very sinister. I left without doing business there. I hope this review can help you decide, and I highly suggest you drive a little further to find another shop. Sorry to say this but I hope they go out of business. I don't care if they are expensive because the shop's in SF after all, however, it's the dishonest and sinister that lost my business there. read more

Much cheaper than the dealer, they communicate frequently and keep you posted on repairs before they fix anything and they were on schedule. German was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The location was convenient, they got me in and out very fast and held the car until the morning when I couldn't make it to the shop by end of business day. I totally recommend this auto shop to anyone. I took my car in for the first time for a check engine light on a Wednesday morning and everything was a smooth process from beginning to end. The customer service and same day service was 5-star in my book. I felt safe leaving my car there and trusted them completely. They also gave me a complimentary car wash as well, but I have to admit I think they wash my car more so because my car was super dirty and they felt it was absolutely necessary. Nevertheless, that was super sweet. I definitely will go back again, for oil changes and other minor maintenance, of course. Avoid at all cost. my breaks pads need to be re done and auto analyst was close to to my home. so I thought it be a good idea to bring it in.my first impression went well, I liked herrman and cesar so I left my car in the shop.i had all my four brakes pads change on my 5series .everything seemed fine at first until about a week of driving my car after the repair I started to hear a very annoying loud screeching and squeaking until my car came to complete stop.at first it was hard to notice but as I drove it more and more I started to notice people on the side street could hear better than I could.people with they're families and even elderly were making 360 turns to find out where the noise was coming from. Very embarrassing. Worst yet, I brought my car back and herman says because the brake pads were new that there's nothing he can do. Wait it gets worst, i usually keep about $15 and $1"s and $5"s in my ashtray for the toll bridge.i didnt realize it until later but my toll bridge money was missing.this was total display of bad business and unprofessionalism.I would not recommend this mechanic to any one who truelly care for theyre car. read more

I brought my MBZ in here for the Lara brothers to inspect and work on. I left with a $96.00 bill. The service advisor down at the Mecedes Benz of San Francisco, planned to replace everything that had dust on it, and charge me $2500.00 because my car had to have a 60,000 miles MAJOR SERVICE. uhh..no thanks. I am bringing my BMW to Auto Analysts tomorow...and why not? at Auto analysts they don't fix what ain't broke. AND they washed the darned car before I drove it off! Dissatisfied with work done on a BMW. They mis-diagnosed a problem and car never ran right thereafter from the moment I got it back. Had to have it towed back there and they still claimed it was fine. After car broke down again on trip up coast, I had to have it towed 175 miles back to San Francisco to a different shop, Phaedrus who are BMW experts. They identified the real problem immediately which was a fuel pump. They fixed it properly and now runs like a well oiled machine as I was used to. I will never use Auto Analysts again. I'll stick with pros who know what they are doing. read more

To All My Fellow Citizens and here is my Advice ! If I could leave a lower rating I would. Transmission failed on my car and I left it with Auto Analysts ( HERMAN THE OWNER ). Prescription was a rebuild or a brand new tranny. I opted for the former, since it was a bit cheaper. Was told on Tuesday that the work would be done by Thursday of that week. I thought it was a bit optimistic, but what did I know, maybe these guys were that good. Thursday comes, I call and am told that it would be "a few more days." I'm driving a rental all this time as I need to commute to work. Okay, I think, maybe they're busy. A few days later, I call and am told, "the guy" who's been working on it is not in the shop. Odd, I think. "How much longer?" asks I. "Oh, a few more days." Uhh... okay. I'll spare you the drab details. Two weeks total and $3000+ later (they even tacked on additional charges after the fact, parts?), I get my car back. I wish I'd just junked it, or found a more reliable shop. I guess $3000 is less than I'da spent on another or new car. Although with the cost of rental, etc... it's questionable what I should have done looking back. I wonder about the kind of experience the 5-stars have had with Auto Analysts. Maybe Herman was having a bad couple of weeks when I was dealing with them? Who knows. If I ever have another tranny issue, I'd rather have the tow truck take me down to a reputable shop elsewhere. I had the stereo replaced on my Volvo, but they have this thing to where if you don't disconnect the battery when you remove the stereo, the check airbag light comes on. I did hours of research, so I knew that was the problem. I called 15 to 20 repair shops in the bay area, telling them the situation, just asking them to turn off the light. NOBODY was willing to do that! Until I called Auto Analysts. When I showed up, all I saw were Volvo's and other European cars, so I knew I was in good hands. They were understanding, and quick. Nice waiting room too. They had me sign a waiver, which I had no problem doing. It took about 10 minutes, and $45 out of my pocket. They are good at what they do! A few months ago I was charged 110.00 to replace the light bulb in my headlight! I just went to Pep Boys and they only charged me 16.00. They took advantage of me and did not tell me they charged a minimum hourly rate of about 75.00. What a rip off!!!!! read more

I was referred here by the owner of a parking lot when my V-12 Jag was barfing its coolant due to a broken fan belt. At 2:30 in the afternoon. I really wanted to 200 miles home that day. The shop was clean, German was very knowledgeable, and they repaired my car in 2 hours. The price for this emergency repair was reasonable and the work was done right. Wow This place is terrible!!! A.A. repair is completely unprofessional and a crook. My boyfriend got his $50 Peet's gift card stolen from his car that was serviced there. Then he asked to write a detailed receipt for him and had to come back 6,,,yes 6 times!!!! And the receipt still did not list everything. I asked AA for a complete estimate (part and labor). He told me a price and I then took my car in the next day. While my car was in his shop, he called a few hours later and the price doubled. He did not include the price of the part with the estimate. Who takes their car in without knowing a rough estimate of labor AND the parts? Auto Analysts should know this but instead he is trying to get over on people. Not a very pleasant experience that we have had with Auto Analysts in San Francisco. We initially brought our car (BMW) in for service in May of 2009 for a problem with water/coolant in the engine. Was serviced and the bill came to approximately $3400. Brought the car home and the car has been back to Auto Analysts at least 4 times or more for a total of 3 months in their shop. After numerous excuses and reasons on why the car was still not fixed and promises on when we were going to get the car back we finally got the car back for it's final time two weeks ago after 3 weeks in their shop. Their promises of calling us back, their reasoning of what was wrong with the car went on and on, plus having to listen to them tell us what they had done to the car which wasn't done. The car is now not running and what they said they had performed on the car was never done. They finally put in a solution in the car to stop the problem temporarily and now there is really no fix. Not a honest establishment!!! I would not recommend going to Auto Analyst... This has been going on for 1 1/2 year and I think we have been more than understanding. We can go into more detail, but I think from reading this message you understand that Auto Analyst cannot to trusted with your car. Not a happy customer. read more
