Stopped by Auto Air By Ben 3 years ago when the A/C was not performing as it should. There was a small leak and Ben fixed it at no charge. Remembering this positive experience I made this shop my first stop when the A/C was under performing again. Within a few minutes I was told the refrigerant level was Ok and that I needed a compressor with a recommendation to include the drier in the repair at an estimated cost of $1,400 to $1,500. I took the vehicle to the dealer and they performed a diagnostic including pressure and leak testing. They concluded that the refrigerant level was low, recharged the system and all is back to normal. Bottom line, yes the dealership recharge cost of $264 versus $130 was twice that of Auto Air By Ben but I didn't need to spend $1,500 for an unnecessary repair. read more

The experience here was so great. One of the things I hate most about dealing with mechanics is that little thought in the back of your head that your being taken advantage of due to lack of knowledge. At Air by Ben, I caught a different vibe. Ben was knowledgeable, explained himself very well, showed us the proof of what he was talking about right under the hood, and made us feel super welcome. Offered cold waters, took care of us right when he saw us standing around, and he committed to the results of his work. That was a good feeling: knowing that he and his team would stand by their work. The quote was high, but we felt it was fair for the amount of things being done. Also, because of what had been done to the car rather mediocrely before, the issues Ben pointed to checked out. When we returned to pick up the car, one of the things that Ben had recommended to do had not been done. As soon as I brought it up, he apologized very genuinely and offered to take care of it right away, if we had a few minutes to spare. He gave us a couple of water bottles and within 15 minutes that minor thing was done, at no additional cost. Bottom line... Ben and his team really make you feel taken care of. Great experience at this shop A/C in my Acura went out and I was pretty confident it was the compressor. I took it to Auto Air by Ben and had a friendly greeting upon arrival and my car was looked at within 10 minutes. Issue was indeed the compressor and condenser. Ben took the time to show me exactly what the issue was, what the repair would entail, and answered all of my questions. This shop gave me the most competitive quote and were able to start the work same day. Needless to stay I went with Ben's and wasn't disappointed. They finished the work on time and took great care of my car. The only critique I have is with billing/payment. They charge a 3% credit card handling fee if you use a credit card. My wife took in our Jeep Liberty to get a new AC about 4 months ago. The experience was great, but it seems as time progressed, it was losing its cool. (Pun intended) In Florida as summer progresses you can definitely feel it. She scheduled a time to come back and even though he was very busy, Ben met her at the door with a bottled water, realized that one of the AC lines had sprung a leak and went about to fixing it right away. My recently acquired SUV's a/c unit mysteriously stopped working one Saturday. No. Oh. No. Having dropped clients' vehicles off there with previous employment, I was familiar with their quality of work and reputation. On Monday I called and expressed my concern to Wayne, who answered the phone. As the entire state is currently under the, "Shelter in Place" due to the COVID19 pandemic, Wayne informed me it was very slow there and they would take a look at my vehicle's a/c system to try to diagnose the problem. Well, you guessed it---started the a/c and it worked like a charm. Still concerned there still may be a problem, I drove to the shop. Wayne and two other technicians immediately connected their machinery, which revealed no freon leak and all a/c components working as usual. Whew! What a relief! Wayne explained that perhaps a relay became stuck, which he sees alot but all is operating as it should. They didn't even charge me for their time! These guys are so wonderful to work with! I had to have the evaporator replaced in my car, which is a huge job because they have to take out the dashboard and passenger seat in my model. His first recommendation was to try the less expensive option of just charging the A/C and wait to see how long the charge lasts. That made me trust him right off the bat. I let him know I had already done that and it didn't last for more than a week so he proceeded with the replacement. They absolutely exceeded my expectations. They completed the repair at about 1/3 the cost of the dealership's quote, they sent me a video about 1/2 way through showing the extent of the work with everything taken apart and they finished it earlier than promised. They went above and beyond; they sanitized the vehicle before they sent me on my way and they even polished the inside of my VERY yellow/hazed headlights. And to top everything off, they made sure to complete my job despite having to close early due to an emergency so they wouldn't leave me stranded without a vehicle. Ben hates his family. Visit 1: bad evaporator. Blames Ford. Expensive repair, but he calls me "brother", so that's ok. One year later, visit 2: bad evaporator. Blames Ford. But I tell him it is his evaporator. Expensive repair anyway. He still calls me "brother" but I don't feel the love. Immediately after the repair, I hear water sloshing in the evaporator under the glovebox. I bring it in, but he discounts the problem. I don't think I was his brother that day, but I'm not sure. Eight months later, the evaporator goes bad again. I take it to Christian Brothers. Fixed with a 36 month, 30,000 mile warranty (parts AND labor) whichever comes LAST!!! They didn't call me "brother" but their work and warranty make me feel like family. read more

What can I say? Ben is really a stand up guy! I had my car diagnosed at the dealership before I came to him, he was able to find they had miss diagnosed the issue and recommended I go back to them and work with them for a reduced cost because the car is only 3 years old and very low miles (less than 33k). I took his advice and was able to get the dealership to cover the full cost. Not many repair shops show such integrity or helpfulness. I am so thankful for his help! I took my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee to Ben in August of 2018 and he called me with his diagnosis not even 5 minutes after I walked out of his shop. I was confident I knew what needed to be done so I went with Ben's estimate because he said exactly what a friend (Jeep service manager for over 15 years) had told me....So we went ahead and switched out the evaporator for AC in August and it worked great for a short period of time. It was very, very cold but then gradually started to get warmer (inch by inch)...so I knew I would need a compressor at some point... Fast forward to February 26th of this year (2019)...I take my Jeep back to Ben to get the compressor done and once again he diagnosed it in less than 5 minutes and said I needed a compressor...ok fine...I was aware of that. After completing the repair, the AC was the coldest it had ever been but once again it is starting slowly become less comfortable. I showed my friend (Former Jeep service manager) the receipts about a month after the second repair and he wondered why Ben didn't replace the condenser when he did the compressor. I thought the really quick diagnoses were odd but I accepted it because of many good reviews and even a local recommendation to use Ben's shop. Fast forward to today...the AC is currently alternating between comfortable and unbearable...After having my friend tell me about the condenser probably needing to be replaced with the compressor and then confirming that with many auto forums I have decided to write this review. I spent almost $1,600 at Ben's shop across the two repairs and feel like I received shoddy service both in the repair and communication departments. He's very friendly as is the woman who normally works the desk and answers the phone, but after having spent this money to still have issues and to hear that the issue should have been dealt with already is extremely concerning to me. But...as someone who is on a strict budget and relies on his car for pretty much everything...this is unacceptable...Considering the reviews and recommendations I just want my AC back to normal functionality. Like the other reviewer I normally just limit my reviews to places to eat, but when you find a mechanic with integrity you have to share it. My wife's car needed work and instead of selling me the very expensive part which would have boosted his bottom line and made his job much easier, he helped me find a much lower cost solution and then only charged what the labor would have been if it had been a simple install. But this review is more than just feeling good about finding a good deal. Ben was pleasant to do business with, very informative, and had a level of caring and commitment that almost only comes from owner/operator shops. If I need auto air work done again, I will be back. I was in Tampa for business and I took my old 99 Suburban in to get a new compressor, and condensor. Ben diagnosed the problem immediately. Once he got into the Job the old lines turned out to be corroded and jimmy rigged together, and the amount of work needed would have exceeded the value left on the car. So Ben and his crew put all the old parts back on and didnt charge me dime for the 4-6 hours of work they already put into the job. He didnt try to rig up something that would fail in a month or two. Even though i would have been out of the state for good. Im not sure theres a more honest man in the business. Thats really hard to come by in this day and age. read more

Ben is a great, friendly and personable guy. I have used him on the past and brought my other SUV to fix the ac. I had a warranty with a $100 deductible but Ben was not helpful when it came to contacting the warranty company. I even called the warranty company for him and they only had a few questions for him but didn't want to bother talking to them. They just asked for his tax ID # and he didn't know it and through the phone back at me. I went to Ben to help out a small business owner rather than Ford Dealership. But it ended up costing twice as much because Ben didn't want to slow down and take 5 minutes to talk to the warranty representative. My entire experience with Ben at Auto Air By Ben was nothing short of pleasurable. He answered my call right away and helped me make an appointment on a day and time that was convenient for me. When I brought my car in, he actually looked at it 15 minutes before my appointment and within 15-20 minutes he had a diagnosis for what was wrong. The best part was the quote: $900 to fix everything, including the labor. This price was $600 LESS than any other quote I had gotten for the same repair. This is a big deal to me, especially because Volkswagens are typically really expensive to have repairs done. What's more is that Ben was able to fix my car the same day! Unheard of. I picked my car up 6 hours later to have perfectly working A/C. Ben was kind, courteous, and efficient. I showed up to get my ac vacuumed and refilled straight forward. 2 mechanics were going to work on it then the shitty owner showed up and closed my hood and basically told me to fuck off. He said my car would need more work than its worth. I literally went to another shop 10 mins after and got it done. So I gave them a try and they did a quick look inside my car and found the problem within 5 minutes!! My car was fixed overnight and they charged me less than $300 with a 6 month warranty. Luck was on my side, it was a cool day, so nobody else was competing for his time at the moment I arrived. He asked me what the issue was, what I drove , and had had me pull around the side. I dropped my car off at night and at 8:22am the next morning, Ben had already identified the issue and priced it. By 11am, my car was blowing ice cold air. The pricing was very fair. Normally I have terrible luck with mechanics, but I'm happy to say that my experience at Ben's Auto Air was an exception. I actually went here because of a recommendation of a buddy who is a mechanic at a big dealership nearby. From now on, I'll definitely be referring my friends to Ben's Auto Air.
