Before finding Rock Solid, I actually hired another concrete contractor because their quote was a little cheaper and they had decent reviews. Unfortunately, that decision ended up costing me time and frustration. The contractor never came out to look at the site beforehand and relied only on a photo I sent. When the slab was poured, it ended up several inches out of square and badly sloped, which made it completely unusable for placing a shed on top of it. Thankfully I was able to get my money back and have it removed, but the whole experience reinforced something many homeowners learn the hard way: the cheapest quote is rarely the best value. That's when I reached out to Charlie at Rock Solid Concrete, and the difference was obvious right away. Charlie came out in person to survey the site, explain the grading and prep work needed, and walk me through exactly how they would make sure the slab was square, level, and reinforced with rebar since it would support a structure. On the day of the project, Charlie was involved from start to finish. He checked measurements, supervised the crew, and sent photos and updates throughout the process so I could see each stage -- from forming and rebar placement to the final finish. The professionalism stood out. The crew respected the property, kept the area clean, and worked efficiently. Once everything cured, I checked the slab with a level and it is perfectly square and perfectly level, exactly what you want when placing a shed or structure on top. Charlie clearly takes pride in his work and treats every job as if it were on his own property. This all involved a very substantial amount of Money that was going to be put into our home. Dave came back with a very fair estimate and that is why we chose his company to proceed with the work. After about a month of working with his crew, he became somewhat defensive on when we would present to him areas that we were concerned with and dissatisfied with the work that was in place. Each time he expressed that his crew would be back out to correct the issues. A couple of times he did in fact come back and the issues were somewhat taken care of, however, he was supposed to come back to complete our backyard to put in place the artificial turf. Evidently with us expressing some dissatisfaction with the work that had already been performed, must have upset him to the point where now he will no longer return our calls nor will he repair the issues that we had expressed to him We had also noticed that some items that we bought (such as low voltage wire) that we wanted the crew to install, and when only one side of the house was completed and they stated that they were out of the wire, when we showed the receipt of the quantity purchased which was more than enough to complete the entire job as quoted by Dave. So we did go out again and purchased additional wire to cover the short fall, again purchasing more than what was required to complete the job and that excess had also disappeared. We noticed that there was also small landscaping hardware missing. This not only happened not just once but twice. When we voiced this concern to Dave (the owner), he laughed and stated that one of his crew members was good at taking little items from job sites. Thought he would have been more upset about the situation, but he made a joke of it. We approached him numerous times about the repairs and also for the top of the outdoor island to be sealed, again he never called back nor showed up to finish the job. Do not go with this company unless you want your job half done or really don't care about the quality of work that is being done. If you voice some dissatisfaction with the work that had been done, his attitude will change and will no longer continue with the job. We are at this time, considering filing a complaint with the ROC, reason being, to fix the issues that were brought to his attention will cost an approximately $2500 to complete. And we are also working with other contractors to complete the jobs that he seems to not want to do, nor at this point, do we want him to do.
