Then you go upstairs and they had more clothes, shoes, purses and home/kitchen stuff. They only have 2 fitting rooms so there is a line. Sometimes it goes by fast depending on how much the person has to try on. The value is really good since they had popular and high brands of clothes there. Some of them still had the tags on and even tho they didn't have tags on them they were in great condition. Everyone who worked there was very nice. Definitely coming back here again!

And the staff wasn't the issue either; everyone seemed fine. The reason for the one-star review is simply the store itself. It's small, which means the selection is really limited, and not well organized nor displayed for a good shopping experience. We weren't impressed with how the clothing was arranged. I've been to plenty of Goodwills, Salvation Armies, and resale/vintage shops that organize everything by color--it makes browsing so much easier. If you like a color but can't find your size, you move on. Here, everything felt like a mishmash: no clear sections for sweaters, lighter tops, pants, or dresses, and no sense of season at all. Because the store is tiny and the layout so disorganized, it's overwhelming to sort through anything. I don't blame the staff--they're working with what they've got--but the overall system and setup just didn't make for a good shopping experience.

Designer Consigner... You are a cattle car of Vintage Crazy…read more I wonder if the owner either has ties to the building management or has a 99 year lease on the cheap. It says Est. 1952 but- How does it stay open? HOW!?! Store is full but not in a good way, some racks are too tightly stuffed to pick through. Clothes are ALL unorganized and most very expensive. Store set up is not conducive to browsing, relaxing OR having fun. The little browsing you can do is made uncomfortable by the owner who is watching your every move and commenting on what you touch. Furs seems unkept, unorganized and funky. There is a special way to store it and she's not doing it right. (ie- Cold Dark Storage, not hot sunny humid store) THE WORST- front of the store houses a "sea" of shoes, which last time I visited were lots of eroding leather, clumped together in an impassible mound. Started having flash backs to the "shoe room" at a certain museum in Washington DC I saw on a 8th Grade Field Trip. (figure it out, seriously) Owner seems quirky and has almost been nice but seems mostly interested in you if you're kinda dopey with cash who won't ask too many questions or try to bargain. When you start to leave because of her inflexibility she may start to bargain with you as a desperate (and lame) attempt to win your business. The jewelry case is a disappointment and a laugh, Newsflash, I know what bakelite is and sadly there isn't much or any at this place! I felt my style knowledge was judged by my youthful appearance. With all that said there are a few things to look at and maybe you'll find something that catches your eye but with such MEH customer relations and inability to have a clean and organized shopping space, it's just time wasted that you'll never get back. It's just not worth the effort, unless you are standing RIGHT outside and it's somehow open. La Jolla's jewel? More like La Jolla's drool. Boring & Expensive & Not Comparable to other stores nearby. Done.

As we walked into the door, my…read moredad made a comment that there was far too much Chanel and Louis Vuitton in this place for it to be all real. Sure enough, he was right. The real Chanel and Louis Vuitton purses and accessories are kept at the register up front and close to the window display. The rest scattered throughout the store are fakes. While the owner was friendly, I have a serious problem with people who sell the real designer goods alongside with several fakes. It seems quite contradicting and I really hate having to constantly ask if things are real or fake. The only thing I might have considered purchasing was ironically on loan to them and was to be picked up by the owner in a couple of days. Meaning, that they were not going to sell the item for her since the owner wanted a lot of money for something that needed some repair before selling. I will not be returning to this store as I find it disappointing to see people selling fake goods alongside real ones.

They offered me $1050.00 to buy back the "fake" bag and that is "the best they can do". The saddest part is that I cannot re-sell the bag and I am now stuck with a $3,000.00 paper weight that is worthless and my heart is broken and I am so mad and feel so stupid for trusting their reputation. I cannot believe that they will not stand by their merchandise. BEWARE of this seller, don't buy anything from them as they do not back up what they sell, do not provide authentication nor will they stand by the merchandise they re-sell. Shame on them and shame on me.

My mother had lived in our family home since 1950 and my father had spent years collecting everything from African masks to Asian art to beer steins plus many other odd items that stuck his fancy. Steve said this was the biggest job he had taken on, but this did not slow him down for a minute. From start to finish he methodically researched, organized and priced items for sale. I do not live in San Diego, but friends reported that on the day of the sale the line was out the door and the traffic in the house carefully controlled. The sale was a fabulous success netting more that the amount Steve had hoped. After the sale was complete Steve gave us a fair price for the remaining items that had gone unsold. He also gave us a reasonable price to totally clean out the house leaving it ready for the painters who would begin work the following week. It is normal for the person holding an estate sale to have to deal with more than one family member and navigate delicate family issues in preparation for the sale. I cannot say enough about how Steve was able to answer all questions in preparation for the sale patiently to everyone's satisfaction. No down sides to hiring Mattson Estate Sales! Steve and his team are the best and I cannot recommend his company more strongly.

Unfortunately, this experience was very disappointing. About three and a half weeks before we needed to be out of our rental, Steve came to review what we had available. We showed him many higher-priced, quality items and asked specifically about everything -- including food, supplements, furniture, a heavy fountain, and more. He indicated he would take it all and that we had enough to make it worth his time and effort. As agreed, five days before the scheduled pickup, his employee did a final walkthrough. We provided a detailed list of items we had already discussed with Steve and had even added additional items he had previously said he would take. Then, just two days later, we received a text saying this was now considered more of a cleanout -- and that we would need to pay him over $1,700. During a follow-up phone call, he said the items we had previously discussed were not worth his time to take. This was especially frustrating because we had offered to let him take only what he felt was worth selling. This sudden change completely disrupted our timeline and plans to be out of the rental by the end of the month. We feel the expectations set at the beginning were not honored, which put us in a very difficult position on a tight schedule. Based on our experience, I would advise being very cautious when making plans, especially if you are working within strict deadlines.
