I also like the layout and the overall vibe. That said, for a Gold's Gym, I expected a little more. It can get pretty crowded, and some of the equipment can be hard to get on during peak hours. Nothing bad about the gym at all, it's a perfectly good place to work out. I just don't think it lives up to the hype compared to some of the other gyms in Austin. Overall, decent gym, just nothing that blew me away.

Everything seems to be some science based overly complicated mechanism that favors looking good on camera for influencers, but actually compromises a proper lift. Everything is mechanically assisted and strange. There is no normal leg press or bench press. The bench bars are too thin and not ideal for flat bench press. They do have some normal cable systems, however all the attachments are also obtuse. The bars are made of a hard rubber that makes it near impossible to wrap hand straps around them. I appreciate the specialty things to an extent, but give us normal equipment as a base. Things that allow you to focus on your own form and mind to muscle connection. Let's not reinvent the wheel. The facilities are awesome and clean, and I think for an inexperienced lifter or a content creator this is a great place to work out.

What a great experience so far. Requested information via the Yelp projects and John from Austin…read moreSimply Fit reached out promptly. Scheduled a call to review my needs and was able to get into Eric's schedule for a Friday assessment. The gym is quaint and quiet, I've driven by a million times. The parking is a bit odd, a few spots up front where you have to reverse onto S Lamar when exiting...sooo that can be a challenge. They have parking in the rear of the building which is great however there is a single entry way and well, not sure how multiple cars could park and get out. Just know your reverse skills need to be on point. The gym inside has everything you'd need and since it's not open to the public it's just the clients and trainers. That means no waiting for machines and no one looking at you while you're there. Eric is great, he's very easy to talk to and made the whole experience easy. Upon arrival we walked through the questionnaire filled out online to find out the why behind the personal training inquiry. He then did a body scan for weight and fat %, took blood pressure three times as well. Gave a quick tour of the gym and how things work then it was onto the physical movement assessment. Nothing too crazy, range of motion and flexibility tasks. Took an hour for the initial visit and came back the next day to finish a few small exercises then learn the warm up needed prior to sessions. No membership needed as you buy the session in backs, 5, 10, 20 and can be used how you want. Like that there's no long term contract to sign. Session will start in the next week or so with focus on building/repairing the base/functional imbalances before getting into the fun part. Time will tell how this goes, wish me luck!

More importantly, I drink so much less without really noticing, I eat better and I've built muscle and carved out a lean version of me that's much stronger and less achy than the me I've known for so long. I feel stronger and more stable in my body than I have in my adulthood, and it really does make me feel like I have more energy. I think because I do. Nick's approach goes far beyond just "working out." He has helped me improve my stability, mobility, posture, and overall strength in a way that feels sustainable and deeply functional. It's also just so pleasant to work out with him, I never dread the gym because we go hard, but not so hard that you just want to get out of there, and yet the results are still great! One of the biggest changes I've noticed is in my shoulders and neck. I've had long-time sloped shoulders and neck tension that used to bother me by the end of every workday, and now I'm moving through my days essentially pain-free. Nick is thoughtful, knowledgeable, humble, encouraging, and incredibly good at building a program around your actual body, your goals, and your life. I feel stronger, healthier, more confident, and more connected to my body because of his training. I cannot recommend Nick enough!! See my before and after - not that the outside is really what matters most, but how you feel inside.

I wanted to drop some weight, get fitter, and feel stronger. Nicole came to my house twice a week to train me, and she was the right balance of encouraging and challenging. She never made me feel bad for not being able to do something but trained me at the level I was at and pushed me to do better week after week. She also gave me pointers on my diet, which was immensely helpful in helping me drop weight. In addition to training, Nicole is just an all around awesome person and I enjoyed our time each week to chat and catch up while we worked out. I've lost 30 pounds, 17 inches, and 14% body fat, and I've never felt better. I'm motivated to continue on with my healthy lifestyle and to keep getting fitter. I wish I could give Nicole more than five stars in my review-she's amazing!

Nicole, your reply to my review is not true. I honestly cannot believe the audacity that you have to blatantly not tell the truth in your response. 1. I did not lose a "good amount of weight" by working out with you and I was not even close to my goal weight. I'm not sure why you would even say that. 2. I did not quit for "personal" reasons. I had to stop because of medical reasons for a period of time. My goal was to only stop during the duration of my recovery from radiation per my Oncologist's/Endocrinologist's request. If you are talking about personal: I did share with you that my father in law had passed away during the time of my recovery, but that had nothing to do with us continuing to train. 3. Yes, I did ask for a refund because of my unforeseen medical situation. I had been in the hospital twice and I shared with you that my father in law had passed away and I could use that money to help with arrangements and I would have gladly picked back up my training with you when I was 100% better. - You never responded to my text - When you finally did (almost a week later) you were rude and very cold - You made things VERY awkward - You got upset when I started to hold you accountable for promises already made in regards to my training, training session times, and money arrangements. 4. I DID NOT CHOOSE TO END MY TRAINING. YOU CHOSE TO END MY TRAINING BY GOING BACK ON WHAT YOU SAID TO ME. You didn't like that I was holding you accountable for things that you said and did during the duration of our short time training. You said: "I was trying to be kind and let you keep them indefinitely even though I didn't have to. To be honest when you come at me like this it makes me regret doing so" and by coming at you, you must be referring to me keeping you accountable for what you said, trying to figure out when I would get my last training sessions in with you, and not just let you keep my hard earned money. 5. You have NEVER sent me my workouts! EVER! I have asked you at least 4-5 times and you never sent them to me. As a matter of fact I finally had to tell you never mind I will type up what I can remember from the workouts. You are 100% not telling the truth by saying you would "resend" workouts that you provided me because YOU NEVER SENT THEM IN THE FIRST PLACE. 6. Per your contract, which I'm sure you're familiar with it states: CUT CLAUSE: Invictus Fitness reserves the right to end your program at any time for any reason. If this should happen with paid workouts remaining you receive a pro-rated refund. Well, you cut me. WHERE IS MY REFUND? If you didn't cut me, then why did you block my number? Why did you make promises and then go back on them? How can an honest business woman do that? HOW DO YOU EXPECT ME TO TRAIN WITH YOU AGAIN AND GET WHAT I PAID FOR WHEN YOU BLOCKED ME AND WON'T RESPOND BACK TO ME. Lastly, I do not need a copy of my contract because I have one and clearly you don't follow your own contact anyway, I do not need to train with you ever again and clearly that wasn't your intention either because you blocked my number, and I don't need any workout information from you because clearly you would have given me the information the first time I asked for it. What I do need is for you to be an honest business woman and for you to have integrity within your company to fulfill your end of obligations when asked from a client. I would also like for honesty to be spoken. There is no need to not tell the truth when handling business arrangements and fulfilling promises made between two people when your client is just trying to hold you accountable for your words and actions. *I added a picture of Nicole's first response* *I added another picture of Nicole's second response* ***UPDATE TO NICOLE'S SECOND RESPONSE*** I asked for a refund and you said no, ok that's fine. This has nothing to do with that, it is everything else, but I get it, you're trying to save face. I'm not frustrated. I'm just letting everyone know what type of person you are and how you run your business. I didn't refuse an offer because no offer was given to me. You blocked me. It's ok, I have proof of all my "claims/events". I hope you can find it in your heart to run your business better and stop taking people's money. Thanks!

It's hard to find a good trainer. Sometimes the personalities aren't a good match. Sometimes the trainer doesn't really hear you or your goals or you can't hear them. None of that is the case with Lindsay. First of all, she checks in with you about your body and goals or homework each time you see her. She remembers where you're at in your progress and what kinds of things you've worked on with her previously. She gives nutritional advice and runs a helpful blog with tips on yummy, healthy places to eat in Austin. She's one of the only trainers I've seen who shares free workout videos with tips for exercising on your own. She helps you come up with homework for yourself in between visits, and not all of the homework is exercise related. Because the mind and spirit have so much to do with the body, homework is personalized to things you want to do that you know will be healthy for you in one of those areas. If you have a specific goal in mind, if you need someone to keep you accountable, if you just want to improve the shape you're in, I encourage you to schedule a consultation with Lindsay!

TLF and Trigger have--no exaggeration--changed my life…read more When I was 10 years old, I had to have major hip surgery. This put me in a wheelchair for 2 months and on crutches for 3 more after that. At the time, my orthopedic surgeon told me, "Yeah, you'll probably just never be a very physical person. Take care of yourself and don't overdo it." As a result, I spent the next 12 years avoiding physical activity, instead building up more and more tolerance for the pain that was a daily part of my life. Issues with my hip caused back pain, knee pain, shoulder pain, and neck pain. I was, as I said often, a "broken thing." In my mid-20s (with all the aches and pains of a 70-year-old), I decided to push back against what I saw as a miserable future of pain and debilitation. I tried rock climbing, I tried yoga, I did physical therapy, acupuncture, and gym work. With each new activity, I would have to muster up hope and throw myself into it. Maybe this one will work? Maybe I can make progress? Maybe I can learn to enjoy physical activity? Maybe I'm not a "broken thing"? But every time, no matter how hopeful I was, it wouldn't work. With sports and physical activities, I'd jump in too fast and too hard and injure myself. With the more gentle therapies, it wouldn't work enough to reduce my pain to a manageable level. Every couple years, I'd get up the hope and the willpower to try again, and it wouldn't work. Year after year, this just confirmed in my own mind, "I am a broken thing. Why should I even try?" After a particularly long period of sedentary hopelessness, I decided to try ONE MORE TIME. I checked Yelp and picked the nearest gym to my house. I don't even think I looked at the reviews. At 1AM, I typed up a plea for help and sent it off to TLF. The next day, Trigger contacted me. She started slow, focusing on mobility and targeting all those tiny muscles deep in my joints that had atrophied over 23 years of inactivity and repeated injury. She was patient and incredibly meticulous as she identified each and every limitation I had. She pushed on the ones that were malleable, and she worked around the ones that weren't. Together, we learned all the ins-and-outs of my joints, identifying every flash of pain I felt and targeting it with gentle but persistent attention. At times, it was frustrating, and at times, it was painful. But we did the work, both physically and mentally. Trigger helped me confront the feeling of powerlessness that injury can cause. I moved through all the anger and betrayal I felt toward my body. Slowly, slowly, I started to have confidence in my physical self. And in return, I saw improvements and gains. My joints stabilized, and my flexibility increased. My form got better, and my capacity grew. And the pain started to recede. It was SO slow in the beginning, but I trusted in the process and Trigger didn't let me down. Honestly, it restored my faith. Now, I wake up and, no matter how tired I am, I look forward to that hour with Trigger. We've moved past the therapeutic/mobility phase, and I'm doing more strength work. My body operates so differently now. The pain is gone, my movements are more symmetrical, and I've got more confidence in my abilities. I've begun to trust my body for the first time in my adult life. With that strong foundation in place, the progress is increasing, and I feel incredibly empowered. And all of that is thanks to Trigger and the TLF family. They take the time. They're patient. They're knowledgeable. And they invest in the foundations of healthy movement. That makes so much possible, especially if you suffer from chronic injuries. I've spent 10 years trying to find something that works, and this really really does. I'm so glad that I took the chance on TLF. They've changed my relationship to my body and my outlook on the future. There's still more work to be done, but I'm happy and excited to do it.

I've been training with Sumair for almost a year, so buckle in, this is a long, thorough review!…read more Before I came to see Sumair, I had struggled for years with back and hip issues. I had an extreme lack of mobility, and my pain was at about a 7 or 8 every day. I was limping around at age 36 like a much older person. At that point I had tried everything - tons of physical therapy, 4 different trainers, chiropractors, massage...nothing worked. When I began with Sumair, I couldn't do much of anything. I mean, I had zero range of motion and very little strength. If you're feeling self conscious or scared, please don't let that stop you, we have all been there, and I would argue that is where TrainLifeFit really shines. Sumair has built TLF to be a holistic program. What makes it so great is that it is a body/mind/emotions program. What does it matter if you can do a proper push up if your mind has been programmed to believe that you CAN'T do things because you "just don't have the body for it"? Because I am petite and small, that's what I had been told. I'd also been told that my pain was just my "new normal," and to get used to it, so Sumair also had to help me overcome my sad sad sad mental programming about my body. He also taught me about mechanics and how to recognize what was going on with my body. That understanding was reinforced through the homework he gave me, so now I have the ability to identify what's happening and work through it on my own. That's important for the other days when I'm not training with him, and I cannot overstate how much it improved my relationship with my body. I now understand it and know what it needs. So my result is, less than a year later, my pain is at about a 1. I have gained significant strength, stability and muscle mass. My winter coat didn't fit this year because my arms and back had gotten bigger! My mobility is excellent and I have recently begun to run again, an activity I had been told wasn't available for me anymore. But most importantly, I trust my body. I know it is capable of much more than I had been told. I understand it, I have a vocabulary to describe what is happening with it, and I no longer treat it like an annoying employee by getting frustrated when it doesn't do what I say. So you can train anywhere. But if you want a transformation, I recommend TrainLifeFit.
