After the bureaucracy of the Texas DMV it was as much a surprise as a delight to be whisked through the necessary steps to renew my passport. Edgar helped me and if there seemed to be any sort of snag, he would actively brainstorm all possible solutions with his colleagues there. Can't say enough about the staff here: relaxed, confident, professional and super-helpful. I got an expedited passport here 16 years ago and it was smooth and easy. Night and day from my 1990s experience at the Passport office in Houston. So I called to inquire about getting help for another passport and they kindly suggested that I could do it on my own since I had months to wait. All was smooth until I read that my birth certificate now needed both parents' names. Uh-oh. Mine did not (it was just fine in 1994 and 2007). I called Austin Passport Express again and asked if my expired passport would qualify as "valid" for my proof of citizenship, and was assured it would. Whew. I had spent most of the day trying to reach the National Passport Office to clarify and NEVER got anything but recordings to go to the website, where I already was, trying to figure out "expired" but "valid" as proof. I arrived with no appointment but was able to come in quickly (once the person who had an appointment was in the back room). In and out in 10-15 minutes and that's that! My wife and I need to submit FBI background checks for an international visa application. This requires submitting a complete set of fingerprints for the FBI to match against its criminal database. No problem, right? Well, it turns out that, as you age, your fingerprints can become less pronounced. After three FBI rejections of her prints that were captured by the service recommended by the FBI, my wife tried Austin Passport Express. Compared with our experiences at the other service provider: 1. The service was super friendly, 2. Despite working with challenging fingers(!), they persevered for at least 20 minutes to get the best possible scans and submitted them digitally, 3. The FBI accepted them and she received her background check (which was 'clean' I'm happy to report!). Austin Passport Express was a little more expensive than the other service but they also took care of the entire submission process. Worth every penny! I will use them again for other services. I was in a real bind when I realized my current passport was three months past its expiration and an urgent business trip came up last minute. Initially I attempted to manually process my renewal via the "two week" expedited service offered by the US government - however after three separate days battling on the phone to just get a meeting with the passport office I decided to look for an expediting option. These services are hard to find, some claim the UPS Store can offer the service, however after a local search I called Austin Passport Express and they worked to schedule me an appointment only an hour later in-person! Upon arrival they walked me through the entire process, took my picture and gave a very accurate estimate of when I should receive my renewed passport. Their staff was incredibly kind, helpful and professional, even though their office was filled with clients. In less than 20 minutes they had printed all the necessary documents and I was on my way. Long behold, my passport actually arrived a day before their estimate (even though I requested my documents before a holiday weekend) and I received a text message letting me know I could pick up my documents. The docs were perfect and I was able to make my trip! When I need to renew my passport again if I'm still in Austin I'll without a doubt use this service again, it's 100% worth it to avoid long waits, multiple trips to the post office and dealing with their grumpy combatant staff. Needed to renew my passport a couple months back. Any questions I had regarding the process, service, or fees were promptly answered by APS through email, as well as availability for booking an appointment. Filled out all the necessary forms, brought the necessary documents, APS efficiently took care of the rest including ensuring everything was filled out correctly and good to go. With the US Dept of State completely backed up on applications, I was still able to receive my new passport within a reasonable time frame, and before the department updated estimated processing times from 6 weeks to 12, literally two weeks later. Luckily I checked out pictures of the building beforehand. I definitely would've drove past it a couple of times while looking for something a bit more sizeable haha. read more

Easy! I scheduled my appointment, showed up a little early, and was seen on time. I needed to update my passport because my old one was expired, and I had a name change from getting married. They were very knowledgeable, and let me know exactly what I needed to bring to my appointment. When I arrived, there was a small waiting area I sat in with a couple others. An employee then quickly took me to another room to take the photo I needed, then sat me a desk to fill out the appropriate form. There was a small wait again, then a different person looked over all my forms, had me verify my own info, told me the price, and sent me on my way after paying. They also provided an estimate of when I'd get my old forms and my new passport. So, I'm hanging on to a star to add if my documents show up around the right time. I just had everything sent-in in January, so there's room to wait. But I definitely expect to bump them up to a full 5 stars. read more

You can literally walk one block to the court and save $75.00 the court does photos and everything tThey don't do anything there for your passport needs besides rip you off! Arrived on a Friday at about 4 pm without an appointment, but they were still able to assist me and I got the photos in about 15 minutes. If you have read my review of another fingerprint place, you will see that I have had trouble getting fingerprints done for background checks related to professional licenses that I must obtain for my job. The last time around I went to two different police stations to have my fingerprints done and the state of Louisiana rejected all four sets of prints We went to Austin Passport Express because I was getting desperate to get this situation taken care of.
