Exceptionally wet and green firewood!!! Was promised seasoned wood - complete bait and switch with absolutely horrible customer service. Promised they would come and replace "just give us a week" and then the person I talked with quit, the phone is disconnected. Beware of using this company - will post an update if anyone contacts me. When the weather chilled down, I head to my wood rack to find I was out. Thanks to Yelp, I found a Firewood delivery service. Checked out their web site and found it very easy to order and pay online. I quickly get an email stating my order number, amount paid, and a comment someone will contact me about delivery. After a week, with no call about delivery, I call them. Turns out, I was not the only one who ordered on Decemeber 1st and didn't get a call. Their online order system didn't push the orders to their server. Not a problem, I would get my wood deliveried today. The driver called but I didn't pick up so my wood deliveried was moved back one day. My Fault. The next day the driver calls. I tell him where my wood rack is. He called when he finished stacking my wood. When I got home, the wood was stacjed nicely. BF couldn't wait to starta fire. Wood burns very well. read more

This company is HORRIBLE. I had a TERRIBLE experience. I ordered wood online on Saturday. By Wednesday, I had received no phone calls or any communication despite giving them over $200. Thinking it was a total RIP-OFF, I called them I called them and they said there is a red banner saying 6-8 days. This was their excuse. Keep in mind, the banner was not visible on Saturday when I ordered, but it was when I checked today. I asked if they could still deliver it and they refused to say yes. He just gave me the runaround about how busy they are. I told him I needed to know what day They refused to give me a day or even time range when it would be delivered. He then proceeded to get upset with me. He argued with me and was totally rude. He started saying he had plenty of customers that could wait 6-8 days and he didn't care. What kind of company treats their customers this way? Apparently, Austin Firewood does What he was missing was I still wanted my wood and if it could still be delivered in that time, I was fine with it. However, since he was being so rude he was unable to understand that. Since this experience was going downhill fast, I told him I'd have to write a negative review. He told me he didn't care. He told me he had plenty of business and good reviews. Don't do business with companies like this. Avoid them at all costs. We as customers deserve better customer service. As a consumer, they provide wood and the only thing that differentiates this company from another is customer service. This company is HORRIBLE If I could give a negative rating, I would. read more

I'm really sorry that I have to write this review...I ordered online from Austin Firewood for several years and had a very good experience. So in October, I ordered again from the same website. The PayPal receipt, however, was in the name of Bastrop Firewood. A week after I ordered and paid, I had not had any contact regarding delivery. I called and was somewhat chastized for checking on the delivery and was then told I was on the schedule for two days later. The wood did come, was good wood and neatly stacked. I'm a rookie wood buyer, having recently moved into a place with a fireplace and prepping for a camping trip, I contacted Cary to see if he'd sell me a smaller amount of wood than listed on his site (full, half, and quarter cord). Since it was such a small amount, I offered to come pick it up. He emailed back almost immediately, saying it'd be no problem, along with a price that was cheaper than I expected (I guess because I was sans delivery). On the day of the pickup he called and gave me directions, and was there with my pile of wood when I pulled it. It was way more wood than I needed and I was happy with the price so you could call me a happy camper. Speaking of which, we took the wood to Pedernales Falls State Park and it made a pretty mean fire. We cooked on it a few times, it held coal through the night, and it even survived hours in the rain. If I ever finish burning this pile, I know where I'll be getting my next. read more

Pros: - Website is super easy to use - just pay right from the home screen via Paypal pay - Images are easy to follow - we ordered a half cord - Service was incredible - Daniel stacked the wood for us (don't forget to Tip). Daniel could not have been nicer. - Schedule - they were there within 30 min of the scheduled appointment. Cons: - You do have to send a reminder email to them after you get your confirmation on email so they will call for appointment but they called within two hours and set up an appointment. New Owner. BUYER BEWARE! They showed up on time just as promised; that's where the quality stopped. They showed up to deliver substandard wood. More very short pieces than standard lengths; stacked to look like half a cord but a lot of airspace between the pieces. Now for the fire. NOT WELL SEASONED, hard to light, and needs stoking to stay burning way more than properly seasoned wood. Not as much heat from it as seasoned wood, pops and sizzles as it is still partially green and creates a lot of smoke. Asked the company 3 times about resolving the issue only to get rationalizations about why they did no wrong. As a tribal fire builder, I know fires and their fuel's characteristics; this wood is a joke, a bad one. I bought 1 and a half cords from this company last year when the old owner was in place; the new owners are not providing the same quality product as the previous owner did, not even close. Ok, this is more like it. I called a guy off 290 west at this time last year and he told me they do not deliver but I could call "so and so" and he would pick up the fire wood and deliver. We missed each other and I called again, he set the time and I just never heard from him or the company that was to sell me the wood. Cut to this week when I called Austin Firewood and hey, novel idea, they deliver. Not only do they deliver but I only waited two days. This kid who brought my wood was Daniel, a very polite customer service oriented guy. It was so seamless I gave him a little tip. I got the wood in January 2011. The delivery was professional and on time (except for the tire tracks in my yard - I am still wondering how I am going to fix that). The main problem was that I could not actually get a fire going with the wood. It was supposedly seasoned for 1 year. However, very little heat or flame could be coaxed from the wood. I suspect it was not properly seasoned wood because; (a) bark adheres tightly to logs, (b) not many cracks at the ends of the logs, (c) the color of the logs is not gray tinged, (d) the logs are very heavy (perhaps they still have a large water content), and (e) my firestarters succeeded in coaxing in inordinate amount of smoke from the logs (that is a potential safety issue - too much smoke leads to creosote buildup in the chimney). I called the company and was told that the problem was due to the recent rain. However, the day the logs were delivered it was a light rain and the heavy rain came after delivery. After delivery the logs were covered with a tarp so they did not get additional moisture. In addition, before attempting to burn the logs they were placed under an overhang for at least 24 hours. That allowed additional time to dry. 4 days later they were still not burning. Now we will have to go buy some burnable wood elsewhere (update: we did go buy wood elsewhere and it burned just fine). The wood will probably be good next year but... I bought it to use this year. The old adage "you get what you pay for" is simply not true in this case - I did not get a delivery of burnable wood. We went to Harley's firewood and got burnable wood. We basically paid Austin Firewood 75 bucks (over the amount we paid at Harley's for the same amount of wood) to deliver nonburnable wood and to leave trenches in our yard. read more

Bad experience. Used their website to order firewood. Didn't hear anything for a week. Then received a call from Heather indicating that I would be "3rd on their list" that coming Saturday. Noted I had not paid yet; not surprising as I hadn't received an invoice or link to pay. Friday night finally received the invoice via email which I paid immediately via credit card Saturday morning when I checked my email. Saturday passed by...no wood...no call...no nothing. Called their office but no answer. Sunday nothing. Monday nothing. Monday night disputed the credit card charge. The following Saturday evening I get a voicemail from Heather stating "they had been trying to get ahold of me all day!" Interesting, I didn't get a call or email. Must have used smoke signal. A couple of hours later guys show up at my door in the dark ready to deliver wood. I politely sent them away. Needless to say, I cannot recommend Austin Firewood. read more

Very convenient to order online and my wood was delivered the same day. I really appreciate the delivery and stacking services, as I don't want to mess with hauling my own wood anymore. I wanted the wood stacked in a location in my back yard, and I was willing to accept a "shorter" route and stacked in a different location if that was unreasonable, but the guy said "no problem" and he put it right where I wanted. I want to start out by saying the absolutely only reason I gave a 4 instead of 5 is because the poor driver drove off my driveway and left tire tracks in my yard. It was difficult for him to back the trailer into my driveway. That being said, I am 100% satisfied with this company and will definitely order from them again. I called instead of using the website, because I wanted to make sure I would receive post oak to smoke my brisket. The guy was very pleasant and accommodating. I ordered on Tuesday (I believe) and he said the wood would be delivered on Friday. I received a phone call on Thursday from the driver asking if he could bring the wood a day early. Obviously, I said yes. He called ahead when he was about 30 minutes away just as promised. He unloaded the wood in the garage and was very generous with the portioning. I think I may have received a little extra (hope he doesn't get in trouble). The wood has been excellent. I have smoked two briskets and turkey, and the post oak has elevated the flavors of the meat. I am very excited to find this place after a simple google search. No more buying over-priced pecan wood chunks at Home Depot. Not a lot of options in Lakeway. Thanks Austin Firewood.
