I love the programs they have here. They are very informative. Sxsw edu always teaches me a lot. I see good films at Sxsw as well.

SXSW has been held at the Austin Convention Center since its creation in the 1990s. I'd like to thank the staff for keeping this institution so kempt, as you couldn't even tell it's over 3 decades old with how clean it is. The convention center is located in a prime location that's accessible and walkable for all. Though the convention center tries its best to be easily navigational, some of the smaller room signs could be more noticeable. Would suggest putting on comfortable shoes at the Austin Convention Center, as it has two wings and three floors. In order to get to the other side, you'll have to walk all the way from point A to point B. read more

In town for my son's volleyball tournament. Parking was easy, the bathroom availability was perfect for the amount of people in the place. They easily had more than 30 courts set up and it it was planned great! The food..whoever is their food service for the BBQ and pizza did amazing! The staff was super nice and smiling and eager to help my special needs son's diet. (He loved the BBQ no bread). There were plenty of places to lay in the sun by the windows to stay warm during the few days it was cold out. The event staff did an amazing job with tickets and security as well. Plenty of outlets for phones and seating for private calls, etc. Very impressed! Definitely recommend for anyone needing meeting/event space. Within walking of the 5th street parking garage. Went to Galaxy con held at the Austin convention center this weekend and I must say I was pleasantly surprised!!! It was great! We got there early so we could register. Registration was quick and seamless but if I could make a suggestion, I would probably move registration out the hallway into a corner of the vendor hall. That, I think, would've made the lines a little less congested and easier to navigate. Vendor hall was awesome!! So much to see I couldn't begin to list it all. The photo ops and panel list was phenomenal!! Levar Burton, Tara Strong, Rick Flair, Kevin Nash, Brent Spiner , Charlie Cox, Krysten Ritter, David Ramsey, Stephen Amell, William Shatner, Giancarlo Esposito, and more!! Not to mention the endless voice actors. My only take away, and it's a big take, is that the cosplay contest was much later than I expected, which meant that there were a lot less cosplayers transiting the convention for photos. If you've never been to a con, the cosplay contest plays an essential role in the con!! Pricing for photos and selfies were a bit pricey for this con but considering their extensive line up, I can see why. The cast from boy meets world and the guy who played Dawson from Dawson's creek were there as well. The vice actors from a nightmare before Christmas also! Next year I think I'll opt for the vip passes and make a weekend. The strike in Hollywood did effect what the panelists could discuss, but talents like William Shatner and Lavar Burton did an amazing job entertaining! read more

My wife attended the AAP meeting last weekend, so I was able to walk around the Convention center a little bit. I found it to be well lit, airy and well kept. It was also centrally located in the middle of many Austin downtown hotels. We stayed at the Fairmont, so there was a walkway connecting us to the convention center. Very convenient with the stroller on a chilly fall day. I think other hotels, such as the Hilton, might have similar connection between hotel and convention center. Plenty of escalators and elevators, we had no problem finding the correct room. There are also various gift shops and cafes scattered around the center. Overall a good venue for a conference. read more

I visited the Austin Convention center for several SXSW sessions, registration and the Creative Expo Hall. The convention center appears to be on the older side compared to others I've visited across the country. The bathrooms were clean and the space was fairly easy to navigate. I appreciated that the location was exceptionally accessible to downtown restaurants and hotels- overall, very walkable. The front entrance seemed like it could use some planters or landscaping to make it seem a little more appealing and inviting. I have to give kudos to the Indianapolis Convention Center for looking hospitable both inside and out. read more

Great first time at the Austin Convention Center for the SXSW flat stock art show a few weeks ago. Very clean building and set/up flowed great in the space with lots of room for many people to see each booth and be able to get close to the artwork and talk to artists. Found street parking only a few blocks away, easy walking distance if able. Will be back. read more

I was starving while being at my exhibit booth all day and it was convenient to check out the food court in the exhibit hall. I didn't see prices listed for the Southside pizza, but it sounded good on that chilly day. When I went to pay...eeek it was $10! The lady ringing me up was like yaa you probably could buy a whole pizza for that price. Yep you are right! But alas I was starving and needed that $10 pizza ha it was OK. Nothing special. read more

I had an amazing time at the WhiskyX Experience last night! I got the tickets for free thru the whiskey club at my job. There were so many booths of amazing whiskey, bourbon, scotch, rum, even moonshine! There was an awesome band there called Young The Giant! The staff was so helpful and quick, we got our wristbands and free glasses and got inside almost immediately from the line! What a great experience and my first time at the convention center! Parking across the street from the doors was 16$ for 3 hours. read more

I thought that the staff at the convention center did an amazing job posting all of us crazy real estate agents. I felt that the security as we entered was top-notch, the place was clean, and the facilities for everything we could've expected. The location of the center in relationship to my hotel was like a one block walk so you can't ask for more than that because honestly at every convention you know you put like 30,000 steps a day on your feet. If you can save a few steps a day then that is awesome read more

Good location for a conference and ample meeting spaces. The luncheon food wasn't my favorite - I guess it's hard to feed 5,000 people but cold kebabs two days in a row was not appetizing. I was a conference speaker and found the tech support staff to be total pros and also loved the focus on easy cold water bottle swap out stations. read more

We went to RTX this past weekend and had a blast. Going into the ACC the security and staff were friendly and ultimately it was a great time all around. I know part of that was ACC staff and part of it was Rooster Teeth volunteers and workers but man did I have a great time 10/10 read more

This place is huge. I was here for a conference and the space was just massive. It was a bit difficult to navigate just because of the size of the building. There were some signs that helped, but more signs and some strategically placed maps would have been beneficial. Regardless, it is a nice space. If you are coming here, wear comfortable shoes because you will be doing a lot of walking. read more

Minecraft convention... holly cow... a plethora of gaming geeks, shut in nerds, strange folks, lots of kids, and cool people! You got to see a real slice of Americana here! The convention hall is nice. Well maintained, lots of convention people, good facilities, and lots of room. It was a great place to hold this event. My oldest boy loves Minecraft... he can build and build for hours... so this was a must. He also loves to watch Minecraft Videos of his favorite gamers playing Minecraft... why I still have no idea, but judging from this crowd... he is not the only one. The convention was filled with great stuff! The worlds largest merchandise store for Minecraft stuff... dropped a butt load here! A full LEGO area to build Minecraft and stuff... I even enjoyed this! A VR area... my boys had a blast! Question and answers from utubers. Challenges in Minecraft. Seminars for beginners. Game introductions. Meet and great of Unspeakable and other famous utubers And more! It was an amazing event that we attended from 9am to 5pm... and the whole family had a blast!! I don't play Minecraft but my boys do and this was worth every penny to see the joy this event brought them! read more

Watch out for parking rates from the sleazy scumbags who run the place. If you arrive early in the morning on the first day of a convention you might notice parking rates are not bad, but if when you leave you will notice they upped the rates and swapped out the price boards. Very classless of them. Oh and they seem to have gotten rid of any type of comfortable seating in the lobby areas inside the center. read more

The AAMC Learn Serve Lead 2018 conference was held here this year. Pros: very large space with more than enough rooms to house all of the lectures and seminars. Big exhibition halls. Small coffee shops. Stores for business cards and other stationery. Close to downtown Austin's hotels and hotspots. Strong WiFi Cons: Poorly designed. Did not have enough escalators and elevators. The ones available were very far from each other, which added to the already immense amount of walking. Not enough seating/lounge areas. Not enough outlets around the seating areas, which makes no sense for a convention center. Side note: a small river runs right next to the building. Which I thought was pretty cool. I've added some pics! Overall: not the best convention center I've been to. But it has some bright spots. read more

As a frequenter of Convention centers around the country, especially in the summer given my profession, I was a little apprehensive about attending a several-day professional development session in Austin. Things that cause me apprehension: 1) Parking Situation 2) Meal and Snack supplements during the day 3) Bathroom locations 4) Signage 5) Cleanliness As for the parking situation, there are 2 parking garages with a fixed fee depending on the conference. I do not recommend street parking as towing is both frequent and street signage isn't easy to understand. Additionally, there is currently a lot of construction around the Convention center on Trinity and Caesar Chavez, so navigation may be tough. Meal and snack situation is great. There are vending machines throughout each of the floors, and given the downtown location, lunch and post conference snacks are easy to find! Plus, there is a food-truck yard near by as well. Bathrooms are not limited - thank goodness! If one had the usual long line out the door, it was only a short walk to the next one! This is so comforting for anyone identifying as a woman because the ladies' room almost anywhere is always packed. Do we outnumber men in the world?! Oh, did I mention that they're clean! It's so nice to go to a clean bathroom even if it's frequented by LOTS of people throughout the day The Signage is great. I mean it's clear, multiple arrows don't point to something that doesn't exist, and there are both overheard and on the column type signs. This was very helpful! Cleanliness was impressive. There were hundreds if not more people here yet it continued to look vacuumed, dusted, and fairly spotless. Do they have magic elves? This was impressive. I probably won't hesitate the next time I have to attend something at the ACC. read more

Good space, lots of bathrooms that are fairly clean. Parking situation can be confusing, so I recommend getting some early reading about where to park. There's a garage and some outside lots all around. It's little confusing where to go for the food, thankfully, we found one very easily on the side where we parked. There was a ton of construction so we had to walk on the side of the road. Rather perilous I think!!! It was also nice and cold inside in the middle of July. Plenty of water stations and even cups that were recyclable. Overall, would not mind going back with the exception of the $5-20 parking rates. read more

Huge! Bring your walking shoes! I recently attended a conference at this convention center and was there off and on for 4 days. The facilities were very good. There was never a line for the bathrooms, the whole building was comfortably air conditioned, there were balconies for fresh air on the top floors, seating in the common areas for relaxing... Overall a great experience. I also liked that the upkeep was really great and it felt as if the place must be regularly spruced up. WiFi: This was an issue during the conference. Yes, the conference had arranged for WiFi, but because it was a technology conference, each person had several devices on using WiFi. Unfortunately, even the presenters were hindered by the overuse of the WiFi. I wish the convention center was equipped for the level of WiFi use. I would definitely attend a conference here again. The Hilton across the street was super convenient. The train drops you off right in front. There are several food options within walking distance. Good venue for a conference. read more

Next to having clean washrooms available, my second biggest concern is the ability to get water. Conventions are generally all day affairs and you're probably talking a lot and not eating enough. Water is pretty important. They didn't have any fountains on the floor we were on. Instead they had water coolers which was a nice start but also means they run out super quick with everyone filling up their bottles. It really sucked to walk past another 3 halls (especially because they're huge) to get to the next cooler and find it empty. The convention center looks new and modern and has nice art pieces. It's also located pretty centrally so there are restaurants nearby. It is nicer and has more of a fancy hotel feel than a corporate meeting place. But...they really needed to either have more fountains available or have more kiosks open that serve food and water. read more

$8 for all day parking. Plenty of parking to make sure no one is near you. Parking does not seem to be an issue given that there were 40,000 participants that needed to get their bibs from here in order to race the following 48 hours. Ample space for events such as the Race Expos. read more

I was in Austin for SXSW earlier this month. The Austin Convention Center was one of the venue locations (the main one) where panels and other sessions were held. I spent a lot of time here. The Convention Center is ginormous with high ceilings and amazing views of the city from the top floors. The bathrooms were clean and there are lots of places to sit and recharge your devices throughout the structure. At SXSW, there were several food and refreshment stands inside (as well as food trucks outside). The Atrium Café by the entrance at Trinity and 4th was OK. During SXSW, Chi'lantro stations outside (it's a good truck IMO). Of course, all these places inside and around the perimeter of the Convention Center will be expensive. If you are on a budget, consider venturing a bit further away for food and drink, or bringing stuff with you. TIPS ON HOW TO GET HERE: You can take a Fasten, but there are also nearby bus stations. If you are coming from the East side, the Metro train has a terminating stop right in front of the Convention Center. read more

Austin Convention Center staff is very unorganized. It is not one of my favorite places. Parking can be a nightmare. There is nothing nice about this place if you are an exhibitor. They are quick to take your money. If you need to haul stuff into the exhibit hall you have to get the staff to haul it in for you at a hefty charge. If you pay thousand of dollars for a booth space you should be able to take your stuff to your booth. The same for equipment, what can you possible tear up in an empty exhibit hall,but no we pay someone to tell us where our booth us. The convention center should treat exhibitors with upmost respect and accommodate them instead of ripping them off. They are their bread and butter. read more

Huge place in the middle of downtown where lots of conferences and events are held. I was attending an event that hosted 2,000 people which is no small feat and the convention center made for a very enjoyable venue. Not the fanciest or most modern venue, but it was more than big enough to house all participants and the many activities that were part of the agenda and the venue itself was very easy to navigate through (although you do a LOT of walking). read more

Yesterday was the American Freedom Tour at the Convention center. Many great people were there (I wanna guess 8-10,000 people?). It was fairly easy to get in, they had 4 lanes at the SS (Secret Service) metal detectors, so the lines moved fairly decent. The ACC staff were OK, pointing in the right direction when asked (plenty standing around to help point/watch over the entrances/halls) During the event, more than a few times I tried to live-stream who was speaking to my FB (especially during Ted Nugent playing the Star Spangled Banner, Hendrix-style), and the connection broke up, having to stop and start a few times. C'mon, its 2022, do they not have proficient networking engineers and wireless hardware to support large groups all online? Pathetic! But the main reason for 2 stars, the big damper on the whole event, is due to their Concessions. My family basically went from 11am, when we got in, till past 6pm when it was over, without food or drink because the line to get and pay for food/drink (they did not allow anything but bottle of water through Checkpoint Charlie--SS/TSA) , was about 1 hour. They only had ONE checkout point. The line zigzagged back and forth in the big hall off the main room at least a dozen or more times. And then we hear that a single slice of pizza was NINE DOLLARS!?!?! $32 for a whole Pizza!?!?! (it was thin with nothing really on it...) $6 for a Monster drink! Luckily we were not pancreas-deficient else there could have been life-threatening consequences. Did the CoA expect a Joe Biden crowd with only a few dozen people? C'mon, this was Trump and Nugent and a list of other great speakers! They should have known there would be THOUSANDS. If they had gotten their heads of their own proverbial sand and paid any attention to other Conservative rallies. Or, they did that on purpose, knowing how the CoA governance mindset is. As Ted Nugent said during his part: "Im all for keeping Austin weird, but when did they start making Austin STUPID??" POOR POOR PLANNING on ACC. read more

I feel like Convention Center designers have a sadistic streak in that the location of meeting rooms is somewhat nonsensical. Why aren't rooms with consecutive numbers next to each other? ANNOYING. The convention center is huge and offers small meeting rooms to enormous auditoriums. I found the space comfortable and with a learning curve navigatable. The restrooms on the 1st floor often needed freshening and there weren't enough snack or drink choices inside the convention center. The ATM didn't work. I did like the balconies and the plantings outside as you went up the escalators. read more

This is the 11th Year I attend the TEXAS library Association Conference. This convention center is surrounded by lots of eateries and beautiful hotels. The parking at this convention center is a little frustrating, but if you're staying at one of the hotels near by you can get the shuttle to bring you and take you back. One of the big pluses is the complimentary WiFi. You can be here for hours going through the exhibits and the workshops offered by some of the vendors. I look forward to coming to this convention center every two to three years since the conference takes place in different cities every year. This conference is just great, but the facility makes it awesome. read more

Austin Convention Center is pretty nice I think. They have a beautiful entrance with cool lighting and art at the South entrance at the stairwell. Everything here seemed clean and well organized. The restrooms were clean and the building was air conditioned nicely. Definitely a great place to hold all types of events that come to the city. During the SXSW festival my fiance and I stopped in here to go to the Flatstock show, which was totally awesome. read more

Huge convention center which boasts many shows throughout the year. Multi level complex which maintains a clean level of standards, so props to the janitorial staff as some conventions centers can be quite rough around the edges per say. Big downside for me is the fact that getting from one side to the other requires walking around the complex, which can be a pain if you are used to cutting through various other convention centers to cut down on walking time. Yes, there are worse, but Austin Convention Center is not the worst I have ever been too, that award is handed to Chicago's convention center. On the bright side, the convention center is located right down town next to many shopping opportunities, restaurants, and the famous sixth street. I mean who can argue with sixth street being so close after a long day of walking and seminars!? Either way, I still enjoy attending a particular conference here year in and year out, so a solid 3/5 stars from me on this one. read more

Holy giant-kinda-confusing-but-uber-modern-building, Batman. This place is intense. Shiny, new, great architecture, great design, however it is kind of laid out funky. This escalator only goes to these floors, this is room A while that's room 7, room 11-B is up there by 19ab, etc. I feel like they could have put together a better labeling system. Even the nerds (myself included) at SxSW had a hard time figuring out where the hell to go. read more

I attended a corporate conference at the Austin Convention Center for 3500 people and it was by far my favorite conference ever. The center is large but very well laid out and we never felt like we were lacking anything. The center and vendors allowed for creativity and the location was unmatched in the heart of downtown near restaurants, bars, and the famous 6th street. What really stood out was the attitude and generosity of all the convention center staff. They were so welcoming and friendly and were always willing to go above and beyond. I highly recommend hosting your next big event here. read more
