I've said it at least a thousand times, if you're bored and can't find things to do in Lexington,…read moreyou're not looking too far. This Lakeside Live is another prime example. From May until September 30th, you can come to the Mall at Lexington Green and experience an outdoor concert with rotating lineups each Friday and Saturday. Palmers has a little setup selling beer near the stage area. Or you can enjoy bites and drinks on the patio of Palmers, but you choose to get drinks at Palmers, you can't bring them off of their property/patio. Jax, used to be a burger pub is located close to the stage area and is now only open on Friday and Saturday. They now only serve JRenders BBQ, with a limited and simple menu and drinks. Unlike Palmers, you can actually purchase drinks there and take them out to the seating/stage area. The hours are 7-10pm. We got there about 30 minutes early and already the parking lot at the bottom of The Mall was already full. Not to worry though, you can park up top at the front entrance of The Mall. There's a shuttle that runs up and down the hill between the two parking areas. We just walk through Joseph Beth Bookstore, which isn't a bad walk at all. They have some tables and seating areas, but your best bet is to bring your own lawn chairs. Don't forget to bring your dancing shoes too!

Unless you arrive early, it might be advisable to take your own chair, Food and drink are available at Palmers. If you park on the front side of the mall, you can hitch a ride on a trolley to the back side by the lake where the concert takes place.

I've been to this venue for several shows and events, including Loud Luxury, 311, Wintersong,…read moreCalifornia Honeydrops, and an Eagles Tribute Band, and I've always had a great time. It's easy to get to, with plenty of parking options nearby (I recommend just scootering or ride sharing if you can), and they have multiple bars with fairly priced drinks. Tickets are never outrageously priced, which is a big plus. The venue itself is temperature controlled and comfortable, with a raised stage that gives good visibility no matter where you stand. If you're someone who likes to be up close and personal with the band/artist this is the spot for you. The only thing holding back a perfect rating is the acoustics, which are just okay in some spots. But the closer you get to the stage, the better the sound becomes. Video from the California Honeydrops show is living proof of that--it was easily the best show I've ever seen! Overall, it's a solid venue that delivers great experiences at an affordable price. Definitely worth checking out if one of your favorite bands is playing!

There is no sound treatment to the room at all and the floor is so hard that it hurts to stand there. Between the din and the discomfort, this venue is a violent onslaught on the senses. This place is so bad that they are a blight on the music scene of central Kentucky. Just a complete and total disaster.
