I'm pleased with the overall sales and service, but giving a one-star rating for the following…read morereason: The store displayed signs and the salesman sold me on the idea of opening a Sears MasterCard charge account, with the incentive of a $75 statement credit if I made a purchase of at least $500. The large gas BBQ I was buying came to just under $500, so I bought additional items to bring my purchase above $500. When I received my first the account statement, there was no such discount reflect. I called Sears customer assistance and it was a total waste of time -- I got a rude person in a foreign country who insisted there is no such offer in effect, only a $20 credit, which she granted me. Since I didn't think to photograph the signs at the store I have no evidence. And I purchased weighs over 100 pounds and it will take two hours to disassemble and an eight hour drive (I live in Chicago) to get it back to the store. Basically I feel scammed, and it's Sears inability to live up to their promises and their poor customer relations that's making them obsolete in a world soon to be dominated by Amazon and a few others who live up to their promises to customers.

Menards is a great store. Their more "advanced DIYer/contractor" oriented in that they just sell…read moreyou stuff, and they sell it cheap. While Home Depot is oriented more toward novice DIYers who need more advice, informational classes, etc... That all comes at a cost - higher prices. For most things, I know what I'm looking for. Occasionally, I'll have a question about something, which the employees can usually answer. However, the Home Depot folks are usually more knowledgeable, as it's almost a requirement that they have construction experience. This particular location is getting old, and the store is moving this summer to a new location between 65th and 75th ST, NW.

I hear that they have specific parts and hardware that other major home improvements store in the area don't carry and I believe it. The only problem is trying to find it! This store is huge and not well labeled, if you need to find something specific your best bet would be to ask one of the employees. I also different find a huge price difference here, in fact some things were more expensive compared to similar stores. But I'm sure those who shop here frequently know what items are better to get here. Also, in case you are in need of a lot of lumber for your projects this place seems like it maybe a good option. There is a completely separate area in the back of the store to pick up ordered lumber. It seemed very well organized and was heavily used.

I have…read morealways stuck with Ben Moore paint and probably will for life ---They have a huge design place upstairs and they allow you to take home the books for a few days to look at and ponder. I have also done several wall papers back in the day---and of course various paint techniques. The people there are always helpful with advice.....if you live in the area....you should go here---the quality is waaaay better than any paint you would get at the large chain store....

The brand new store was clean and well organized. There were a wide variety of brand named tools and farming supplies available. Other local retailers will need to step up their game if they want to compete.

Bomgaars has a nice store but I have big issues with this place…read more 1. Many items not marked with prices! I asked at the checkout why I cannot find prices. The employee at the register said they are bad at it. 2. They stopped stocking the chicken Science Diet cat food. I bought it by the case. When I do find it on the shelf, there are only 1 - 2 cans and they are all dented. The last one I opened was all moldy. I changed brands and shop somewhere else for it now. 3. The garden plants outside are not watered and they are fried to a crisp. 4. The female employee that runs the first register. I am usually at Bomgaars 10 times a month. I go to the register to check out. Not once have I been able to check out in her lane. She tells me to go to the other lane every time! So I have to pick everything up and move. 5. The candy is hard and seems old. 6. I bought a bucket for the bucket sales at least 9 months ago and was told there are frequent bucket sales. I haven't seen my first one yet! 7. This store caters to men. I cannot find a woman's shoe/boot area! Only men's and kids. Wives do most of their family's shopping. Your store has seemed to have forgotten that! When I asked if they could search a little more, she said I'd have to come back in an hour, so I did. When I returned they handed me a plastic shipping bag, the bag did not contain 14 Rock Guards that weigh at least a pound each, it contained 3 lock blade pocket knives. Haying season is rapidly approaching, I will NEVER do business with TSC again, and I suggest you don't either.
