Unfortunately, the rest of the experience did not live up to that. When the electrician came out to complete the job, he entered our garage without notifying anyone he had arrived, which was unexpected and not very professional. We had also specifically asked for the new AC wiring to be concealed, but that request was not followed and the wiring was left exposed. Within two weeks of installation, the furnace is already not working properly and we've had to arrange for another service visit. While looking into the issue, I discovered that a used breaker had been installed in our panel instead of a new one, which was concerning. Communication was also an issue. My wife was not given clear or complete information during the process, which led to confusion and frustration. Overall, there were multiple breakdowns in communication and follow-through. Based on our experience, I would recommend asking detailed questions and confirming expectations in writing if you choose to work with this company. That means drawing a picture of exactly how you are wanting something done.

That was really no big deal as winter is not quite upon us. I took the day off work to be available for the Monday morning appointment. I phoned Jim and Dudes at about 3PM to see if they were coming out or if I needed to take another day off work. The gal who answered the phone said she would have someone call me back. About an hour later I call a call back. The guy said that he had no idea that I was scheduled to have work done that morning and that he would look at my furnace the next day. At 4PM the next day I got a call from Dave. He said he could come over. He got there by 4:15 and by 4:45 had diagnosed the problem. He said it was an expensive part and that I may just want to get a new furnace rather than throw money and a furnace that would continue to be expensive to repair. He thought that the Draft Inducer Motor for my furnace would be more than $300. He said he would see if they had one at the shop and give me a call. 24 hours goes by... no call. 48 hours goes by... no call. 66 hours later... Dave calls to tell me he has a price for me. I told him that I got sick of waiting for him to get back to me and ordered the part myself online. I think I saved about $165 +installation costs in the process. I will not be calling Jim and Dude's again.

Do Not Use This Company!! They install incorrect equipment…read morevia SEMCAC pgm!! THEY DONT INSTALL COMPLETE SYSTEM - nor did they install a furnace for for Zone MN is in! The furnace they picked & installed is for a coastal zone NOT MN! Then they did not install new chimney with new furnace!! By not finishing properly warranty is negated & furnace won't work. Then they spent 6 wks trying to find problem & expect me to pay $500 when Steve finally called on 1)6/23 to tell me they didn't install the chimney & that was problem! Can't switch out a chimney in January AND they Stole the New Chimney so before I could install a new chimney I HAD TO BUY A NEW CHIMNEY!! I had to hire a diff company to finish the job as Arens just left me with zilch!! Refused to return phone calls!! After All Was Done: I had to pay over $3000 to fix the problem created by Arens Heating & Use of the SEMCAC Pgm!! Neither the City of Austin Nor the SEMCAC pgm inspected this installation as both are supposed to do according to SEMCAC pgm!! SEMCAC is Worthless without oversight!! Now it's 1/3/25 & this inappropriate zone furnace is Not Working AGAIN!! I'd known Arens for 40 yrs - THEY WERE FRIENDS - NOT ANY MORE!!! This was a job done for my 90 yo Mom who was participating in SEMCAC pgm when Arens did install incorrectly. She could have died due to their incompetence as not switching out the chimney on new furnace can cause a fire &/or carbon monoxide poisoning according to mfg's I contacted!! He explained everything thoroughly, and helped me learn more than just a thing, or two about my AC unit. This is the kind of service you always hope for, but never actually expect to get.
