When we landed a week ago it was -11 degrees. Holy shit. Since we're all from California and don't know how to handle anything below 60 degrees, we rushed over to Remington's Restaurant for some hot cocktails. Like always, alcohol did the trick. We had to ask three times for water, which finally arrived after our food--warm and without ice. The order? Wrong. When we politely pointed it out, the server rolled their eyes and said, "Well, that's what the kitchen made." The food might have been passable, but it was hard to enjoy anything while being ignored, brushed off, and basically treated like we were bothering the staff by simply existing. I had time before my plane to departed and wanted to grab a bite to eat. I waited at the door for 15 minutes and was not acknowledged by the busy staff. After several parties left there were lots of empty seats, so I sat down on one of the barstools to wait to be seated. One of the people employees yelled loudly (the whole restaurant heard and were surprised) "wait by the door, I'll clear the area and seat you!" I tried four different beers from that taster set and I liked them all very much! One of the beers was the Cerveza Fria which was the brewery's Mexican Lager. It was pleasant and refreshing with a slight biscuity flavor and a crispness to it that is perfect to refresh yourself with on warm days. Another beer I had was the Allegiance which was an Amber beer. It was biscuity also and went down easy where it would be very easy to get more of this beer in one sitting. The third beer I had was the Muddy Boots. I liked the maltiness in this beer. While the beer is rich to drink it also comes across as light bodied which gives it an overall nice balance. The fourth and final beer I had was an Oatmeal Stout by the name of Broken Paddle. I do like Oatmeal Stouts and this one was no exception. The flavors you can enjoy in this one are chocolate, coffee and roasty in the beer. The beer is smooth but also comes across as light bodied which you occasionally see in some stouts. A very nice visit to this brewery and worthy of returns whenever I am back in the area.
