We went as a group of 4 for my sister's 30th birthday. While the rooms were very nice and the staff were friendly, the resort is very spaced out and there aren't actually any staff in the hotel buildings themselves so if anything was needed we had to call to have it brought to us instead of just asking at a front desk. This happened when the bottle of wine my brother in law ordered for our room for my sister's birthday was no there and we waited about an hour before it was finally brought over. Then came our spa experience: I am currently going through cancer treatments and filled out my medical form at least a week in advance and at the time of making my reservation a month ago and it was not until I got into the room for my treatment that I was told that they weren't able to accommodate me for it. I wouldn't have minded picking something different if I knew this before hand but I did not. The tech offered a facial instead which was actually really nice and relaxing, but significantly more expensive the treatment I had originally selected and they were going to charge me the price of the facial instead. They did end up changing the price to match the original treatment but that was after I had asked and explained the situation. Then my sisters treatment (the birthday girl) was "running behind" and they kept pushing the treatment back by 5 mins for a good 30 mins. We explained that we had reservations at the 1833 Restaurant and were afraid of missing it due to her treatment being 80 mins long. They called the restaurant and let them know for us. Come to find out that they took another person with the same name in place of my sister and when my sisters time came they were no longer able to accommodate an 80 min treatment so she had to get a 50 minute treatment. They did apologize profusely and gifted my sister some spa products but it did not make for a very relaxing experience and was definitely not the experience we wanted to have that day. THEN CAME THE RESTAURANT EXPERIENCE! We were able to make our reservation just 15 mins late, and at first the service was fine, they even brought us extra bread after we raved about how good it was. My sister has a severe shellfish allergy along with a dairy intolerance and we informed them of this before we even ordered. Some how the staff thought this meant she was allergic to gluten and brought her out gluten free bread. We explained again the seriousness of her shellfish allergy and the dairy intolerance, they still kept trying to offer her gluten free bread throughout the meal. The meals itself were good, my pork chop was very thick and the middle of it was pretty undercooked which I would have pointed out to the waiter if he came at all during our meal but he did not. Once we were finished with our meal we waited for over 45 mins for our bills after we went to the host table to ask because we kept trying to flag down someone to get our bills and then another 15 mins for the waiter to run our credit card. About an hour later my sister broke out in hives and was up vomiting during the night which makes us believe there was some type of cross contamination. Overall, we didn't have a very great experience. It was not the relaxation and peaceful experience that we all hoped it would have been, especially given how much we paid for everything. read more

WOMEN SHOULD BEWARE OF THE MALE STAFF I think this business may be paying for positive reviews I was sexually assaulted by a male masseuse at this spa. He chose to roughly rub my breast instead of the deep tissue back massage I asked for; when I complained he ignored me. I was overwhelmed with his strength. I was upset after and cried. Eventually reception came to find me & i was not asked about my experience instead I was asked to quiet down...it was clear this business doesn't care what happens to women here. Instead of contacting me to find out more details about what happened or apologize; the staff worked to have my comment deleted from Yelp and I found out someone from the business had searched my name on LinkedIn and looked me up personally bc LinkedIn tells you "someone from Aurora inns and Spa has viewed your profile" (see photo) I was violated again finding out they stalked me professionally, despite having all my contact information and still chose not to apologize or reach out in on Linkedin. Instead; shortly after I reported the sexual assault professional clients of mine disappeared - I'm not in the spa or wellness industry i work in tech. I had to block the entire staff on LinkedIn to avoid any potential harassment after my last Yelp review and maintain my business after I was sexually assaulted/stalked without apology or follow up Ladies beware. My review was deleted and this is a follow up review after the first review was deleted. Women deserve to know. It's not safe to do a massage here During my visit I also encountered staff enforcing rules on only to POC; they went out of thier way to leave reception and police the only minorities there. They only enforced the rules to everyone when they were confronted about harassing POC. In addition I was told there were limits on the lounge chairs because of the volume of customers; you can only lie and relax for whatever time they deem appropriate on busy days; like weekends . The cafe was closed the last time I visited despite operating hours reportedly saying they should be open. I feel like perhaps the resort and spa should have two separate Yelp pages as they are in different locations (driving distance apart) and seemingly two very different vibes. This review is for the SPA where I had a dreamy and delicious and (okay, yes) expensive five star experience. Worth it? To me, for whom this is a very special treat, yes. This place has EVERYTHING. Pine nuts in a little bowl. Two saunas. Grilled chicken. Gorgeous energy healers named Maria. Sauvignon Blanc. Welcome receptionists committed to the whole relaxation bit. Views of cayuga lake. Cold plunges (3?) 20% gratuity included. Soup. A million olives. My bestie and I came here for an extra special girls day after it was highly recommended by my sister and her husband. We came two hours prior to our 3:30pm services to enjoy the cafe, tranquility room (good tea!), saunas, steam rooms, cold plunges, pools, robes, and each others company. The service itself was also wonderful. I opted for a 50 minute energy session and found it to be relaxing, emotional, and overall worthwhile. I have stayed at this lovely resort multiple times! Each time I stay at a different inn and experience the beauty of each place I also have nothing but great things to say about the food options! The 1833 restaurant and bar is a upscale restaurant inside the Aurora Inn - it's a gorgeous restaurant and the service is spectacular Pictured below is the multiple course meal we had for dinner. The food was exquisite and the portions were just the right size allowing us to enjoy each course without feeling full! We also enjoyed the more casual atmosphere of the Fargo bar and grill! The loaded tots were delightful and they also had a great burger. We even got food for takeout for a night in to watch a football game! I cannot say enough about the inns - the service is unmatched. Each inn has their own inn keeper who go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and cater to your needs however small. Our amazing inn Keepers helped us set up a bone fire, got us plates for takeout, and served us complimentary every evening! The hotel rooms are all unique - you can pick the one you want and enjoy the best sleep of your life! Finally the spa was spectacular - certainly the spa I have been to in the upstate region and surpassed all expectations. There are heated pools indoor and outdoor so you can enjoy a dip in the winter! the relaxation areas are so quiet and peaceful with lovely peaceful music overhead The complimentary buffet style grazing table was great! So many healthy options - you will be well fed but with the most fresh ingredients!! Such delicious salads and soup options ;) Overall the inns of Aurora is a spectacular all year round destination. Prepare to be amazed by this hidden gem on the Cayuga Lake! The accommodations and grounds transport you to the gilded age of beauty and sophistication. Each house has a different character and everything is carefully curated to the smallest detail. Loved the Nespresso, Harney and Sons teas, and morning granola as well as the evening s'more's kits. There are plenty of activities you can choose from but there is no pressure to do anything. In fact time and space seem to slow down in this small hamlet and you can fully restore physically and mentally. I thoroughly enjoyed the morning yoga, hiking, the painting workshop, and the spa. Had breakfast at 1833 Kitchen and Bar almost every day during my one week stay. The staff is beyond attentive. They are completely focused on you and anticipate your needs. Probably the most relaxing day of my entire life. The facial was so nice, thanks Mo! My face feels so much better and way less dry. Mo set me up with a skin care routine and answered all of my questions, she's so lovely. We loved doing the hydrotherapy, although 55 degrees was too cold for my mom and I, our feet went numb after 30 seconds! The saunas and the eucalyptus steam room were soooo nice. The cafe is filled with delicious treats and really good homemade soup, and has an amazing salad bar. There's cold lemon water around every corner to make sure you are well hydrated with all of the sweating going on. They really thought of everything! We had THE best day here, you need to go! Very mixed feelings here--we had a lovely room with a very comfortable king bed in the Wallcourt Hall building, which was very nice. The common rooms downstairs was impressive--nice firepkace, ample board game selection--great place to enjoy at any time, particularly the wine and cheese hour from 5-6pm which was very generous. Where they really fell short for me, though, were the other amenities--or lack of access thereto. Perhaps it's because it was off-season, but we weren't able to get a sniff of anything we wanted. Checked in on Friday afternoon, and the spa was completely booked straight through Monday. I've stayed at enough fancy places; never was unable to get a spa appointment--or some kind of pass for general usages--during the entirety of my stay. I figured we could at least use the sauna or something, but no, you can't get a day pass without a service, or at least they'd only let us go for something absurd like the first very early hour or the last hour, which didn't seem practical since late dinner in town isn't really an option. They also advertised a Saturday shuttle to the wineries that I read as/assumed was more of a general option or there were multiple time slots available, but no, the whole inn offers one small "bus" from 11a-3p that offers 12 spots only and was also completely booked. For the most part--aside from the kind Chris, who offered a lot of alternative winery suggestions--staff seemed kind of nonplussed about this, didn't seem to care or offer much in the way of alternatives. Good for them I guess for being this busy? But it felt frustrating and rendered a comfortable and cozy spot to stay--a place which features a few good dining options around and a small but nice gym, and provides a decent spot for exploring the region--more than a bit disappointing. You are paying resort prices and are promoted a resort experience, but you are receiving more akin to a solid, general hotel experience. Not sure I'd come back. And if you do go, make sure to plan your whole stay out well, WELL in advance! read more

The spa itself was amazing! I booked a massage that was not for me but that was my own fault. I did an Abhyanga Massage and quickly learned that they don't really use any pressure. I told my massage therapist that it wasn't really for me and switched the type but it wasn't like other massages that I am used to there still wasn't much pressure. I think I would book with a different massage therapist next time because everyone else in my group really loved their massage. However, it still gets four stars for the amenities alone and the kindness of the staff. Love the outdoor hot tub, cold plunge was awesome. The sauna was amazing as well but the food was arguably the best part! I would go back over and over again if I had endless money. read more

NOTE; also known as 1833 Kitchen and Bar, as it is the restaurant in the famous Aurora Inn Hotel. Tucked away in the little town of Aurora, NY overlooking Cayuga lake, one of New York state's famous finger lakes. We started with a nice Rose from the finger lakes winery and some bread. The bread was perfect, and the butter was a spectacular special kind of butter. We had to stop ourselves from continually asking for more bread and butter, to be sure we had appetite for the main course. We ordered the Charred Shishito Peppers with gremolata oil and crispy garlic as an appetizer. I was expecting a place like this to bring out a small plate of five peppers, so we asked about ordering two, and the waitress laughed and said, "You all will be fine with one, trust me." She wasn't kidding. Holy Cow! It was a large plate that could feed 6-8 guests easily. Plus they were perfectly cooked, with just the right amount of charring, and the garlic... Oh, my, tons of perfectly fried slices of garlic. Garlic and pepper lovers, you must get this plate. After the appetizer, I was excited to see our main dishes. There were a number, but I managed to capture mine, and a guests, since it looked as fantastic as it tasted. I had the Iberico pork with the baby broccoli and chorizo and fingerling hash, with even more shishito peppers! The pork had just the right amount of fat grilled nicely hanging off the edge adding to the juicy flavor of the meat. I had to resist gnawing on the bone at the table when done, as it was that good. First time tasting chorizo and fingerling hash. Was nice unique flavor. Should have it as an appetizer, that good. A friend had the seared scallops, which were divine, if you can't tell from the photo. I would say the only downfall, is that the menu is not extensive, but then again, the quality of the selections and food, make up for that. This place is a true gem. read more

There are 5 buildings/inns to chose from and we stayed at Wallcourt Hall )newly renovated, slightly more affordable). The king sized room was plenty big, comfortable and had all the amenities one could need. There are so many activities to chose from, I highly suggest looking at their calendar! We had a great time taking the complimentary shuttle to a local winery and brewery (just make sure you let them know in advance!) Hands down the best spa I have ever been to! I spent 6 hours there and could have easily stayed longer. I got the 80 minute signature massage and it was very lovely. I then spent the rest of the afternoon bouncing between cold plunges, hot soaks and the sauna. The outdoor pools & tranquility room overlook Cayuga Lake. I came here in November so everything is pretty dead and brown but I bet in the summer and fall this view is more breathtaking. They have a salad bar (and soup of the day) that's included and it was the best salad bar ever! I know what you're thinking, it's just a salad bar but it really was amazing! Dad and I stopped in here for lunch. The place is elegant, to say the least and I'll make it a point to stay at the Inn next time I'm in the area. The outdoor deck makes this place one of the few dining options offering a view of the lake. We each got a clam chowder and lobster roll. Both were absolutely delicious, as were the hand cut fries served with the roll. They use fresh lobster, not the crap out of the can. The ONLY reason I'm at 4 stars is because they had a major bee problem during our visit. We specifically went here to eat on the deck but the multiple bees swarming our table made it impossible to enjoy the experience. Just when we thought moving inside would put us in the clear, there were bees everywhere inside too. It didn't help that they left the deck door wide open, inviting them in. They acknowledged they had a problem but didn't say what they were doing about it. The Inns of Aurora have bought out the entire town over the past decade (from what I have learned there were at least 5 small businesses) and taken the beauty that it once held. We had a fabulous time for my birthday getaway at Inns of Aurora. We stayed at the Zabriskie house which had beautiful blue decor theme. I enjoyed having tea and the homemade granola bars in the parlor every morning. They give you the recipe so you can make them at home. The complimentary local wine and cheese hour was a nice touch too. We absolutely loved our Inn Keeper, Carolyn she was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. Our stay and the town felt like a Hallmark movie and couldn't ask for anything more. Carolyn was kind enough to give us a tour of the Rowland house which had a beautiful dining room. We did go to Fargo for a light bite and enjoyed the loaded tots. The village store carried the cheese that is from the wine and cheese hour and I had to get some to bring home. Aurora is a cute tucked away town with just about everything you would need for a relaxing stay and had a few nearby wines that we enjoyed. Absolutely loved the breakfast(Mediterranean toast and baked French toast) in 1833 Kitchen and bar. The service was top notch too. I would love to come back and try the spa and consider staying at a different inn, although the decor and playful pop of blue and green would be hard for me to pass up at the Zabriskie House. My husband and I absolutely enjoyed our time here. Everything about the resort and spa was relaxing. The outside area is beautiful and peaceful. It has a great view. It wasn't overcrowded which made it that more relaxing for us. Our favorite thing was the steam shower. We stayed two nights at Wallcourt Hall. The place was clean and well decorated. The only downfall was I could hear people walking around in the room above us. Both nights I was awoken at 2am from the sounds of footsteps. All the staff we encountered were extremely pleasant. The town is rich with history. We loved walking around and looking at all of the beautiful buildings. It's a must see. I'm not sure how it took me this long to discover this area. It was was a little pricey but it was worth the cost. We hope to go back again in the future. read more

I have spend my birthday weekend at the Inns of Aurora and dined at the Dining Room for dinner. The view and ambiance was superb, and we were offered a quaint table by the window. The service was great but not particularly warm, as I would expect from the personal touch of the Inn. Food wise, the arugula salad was a pleasant surprise: the taste of the hummus and za'atar blends well with the bitterness of the arugula, with a finishing touch of brown butter vinaigrette. We ordered the pot roast and the pasta bolognaise. The pot roast demi glace sauce is on the saltier side, and there were way too much meat in the bolognaise sauce. However, the pasta was delightful. I look forward to try their brunch menu when I head over there next time. For the dinner this time, I was honestly a little disappointed... they could have been better. read more

Wife and I plus Aunt Lois and cousin Lois Ann and husband took a drive out in the countryside of Ithaca. This is Finger Lakes area and it is magnificent, especially on a sunny day. We were looking for lunch and they liked the Aurora Inn, so here we are. Unfortunately, they only had a brunch menu; but we made it work. And it worked out fine. It was pretty hot and humid, but we sat on the patio/deck area which is immediately outside of the B&B and interior restaurant. Looking over the lake and old hills was really tranquil. Nice server, Kyra, who took care of us. Started with Bloody Mary's and Gin Mary's (wife and I), $8 each. Boston Chowder was the home made soup and it was scrumptious. Thick, creamy, dense, served in cast metal lidded pots. That was a meal in itself and if it comes to pass with another visit I think I would opt for the soup and some nice crusty bread. For our brunch, we ate a Reuben ($13), two spinach omelets ($11 each) and a bacon omelet ($9). Not bad prices at all and the Aurora Inn is a pretty classy place. Dessert was pineapple upside down cake which was classically molasses sweet and yummy. The ice cream with it was a great companion to the cake. Those plates went back just about licked clean. A very pleasant way to spend a lazy, sunny Sunday in the Finger Lakes area. We would come back. read more

This really should be advertised as a "resort experience" - a town with restaurants and fitness centers with their own hours- that it is not all on one resort premise. People need to know there is no food served in the town pst 9pm. It does not say on the website that a spa service or day pass need to be booked to use the spa facility. And that You need to stay overnight to be able to purchase a day pass. And that you can not enter the spa when staying overnight without a day pass or booking a service... Instead of saying "Overnight guests of the Inns of Aurora may book spa appointments as soon as they reserve their stay. The booking window for day visitors varies based on availability." (Copied from their website) It should say "any overnight guest booking a room will also need to purchase a spa service or spa day pass to use the spa facility. Please note the inns are not attached to the spa. Neither are the restaurants or fitness activities. This is a resort like experience in a quaint town." It also needs to be very clear that the day pass is consider "hydrotherapy" because when looking at the website hydrotherapy has its whole own entire very detailed page that makes it appear like a very inclusive spa service, not a day pass... Prior to booking I checked the website multiple times to see if it was listed anywhere that something needed to be booked to use the spa and there was no notation of it anywhere... Overnight guests should not have to pay $400 ($200 per person: overnight couples) to sit in the spa premises for the day .... I could see outside guests coming in for the day... but when there is an affiliation with the inns it should be a package to enjoy the "resort" ... Especially since the Instagram and website are labeled "inns of Aurora spa" or "inns of Aurora resort and spa". I honestly wouldn't have even booked the overnight if I knew using the facility would be $200 per person to just use the go tub and sauna.... (Mind you they were fully booked when I called anyways and couldn't fit us in when finding out this info after driving hours to be there and hiring a babysitter for my kids for the weekend).... I would have just purchased a day pass or spa treatments and went up for the day to enjoy the facility... but then the catch is that you can't purchase a day pass unless you stay overnight at the inns.... To add, the room they gave us was in the basement and very small., we ended up not going to the spa.. leaving the inn, and staying at a Hampton inn Dow the road where for only $120 we received a large room, swimming pool and hot tub, hot breakfast, coffee all day AND a shuttle that ran until midnight transporting us back and fourth to the casino and all restaurants in the area- they even can offered to take us to a restaurant for dinner and then come back and get us to transport us to the casino and then come back later and bring us back to the hotel, for no additional cost..... Call me crazy but all that at a hotel for $120 vs.... Spending $400 (or more) at an inn and an extra $400 just to sit in a hot tub and sauna the next day at a spa just seems unreasonable... especially when falsely advertised... Worse, when we mentioned it - they offered to squeeze us in to the spa for the day for that additional $400... no comp, discount or anything... The front desk woman and the Inn was understanding... the person on the phone as the spa however, shrugged us off and could have cared less.... read more

The waiters in this place defiant need retraining. When a person is 21 they should be served drinks. This is as per Nys law! With drivers license which has a date of birth, perhaps waiters can figure out how old the person is. Not here. They cannot. If the driver's license says under 21 bit has not been updated - have you heard about COVID-19 and sev being closed? Yes the waiters here want to be important. And they are. And now they have customers that will not visit. Perhaps the management doesn't care. Training in arithmetic and Nys law would be helpful - if you are 21 with the VALID ID - and NYS drivers license is, be professional. Not here though. read more

The dining room has an outdoor patio with incredible views of Cayuga Lake -- not to be missed during the warm weather season. During my most recent visit for lunch, I enjoyed a salmon tartine, which is basically an open-faced sandwich of sorts on top of a small slice of focaccia bread. It came with a few grape tomatoes, some arugula, and topped off with a delicious creamy sauce with a strong (but delicious) caper flavor. The side was a mushroom risotto. Though it was a little too paste-like for my tastes -- I prefer a thinner texture when it comes to risotto -- it still had a delicious nutty flavor. The service here is excellent: attentive, understated, well-trained, and not aggressive. Sometimes a little over-the-top fawning, but you won't hear ME complaining! The hours of operations change often, so please double-check before coming out to Aurora. The inn is usually open year-round for dinner, and open for lunch during the summer tourist season. They also have recently started accepting reservations via OpenTable. The food: Oh the food! Amazing! Delicate taste and mix from start to finish. We had dinner there and ordered all sort of things from appetizers to deserts, cocktails, bottle of wine and cappuccinos. Everything.Was.Perfect. The view: oh dear. We had dinner with a view of a sun setting in the horizon against the backdrop of a very calm, quite, serene Cayuga Lake. The staff: attentive, prompt, professional from the host, waitstaff, chef, kitchen, manager. All made sure patrons were all taken care of. One of the best restaurants and bars in upstate NY. Definitely my go-to place to have a fantastic meal with amazing view. read more

I had booked the Inns of Aurora and experience the rudest and most unhelpful customer service representative. I was incredibly excited to come to the resort to celebrate my mom's birthday. Of all the places I could have booked in the Finger Lakes, I picked this one because it looked like the customer service was the best. Well, I was wrong. I booked a queen room on September 12th and then a separate queen room for September 13th-15th. When I called up to see if I could just combine the reservation because it was the same type of room they said no and refused to help me in any way. For how expensive this resort is, I would expect a higher level of service and more professional people working at this resort. read more

It's been two years since my last review. We were in town for the Barn Sale and this was the only place around that had reservations. My three star review still stands. There was nothing remarkable about my experience. The service here is still lackluster. The food was average. Oh and I still didn't get my bread. read more

We had Easter brunch here and they did a great job! We started out with some drinks - the bar is quiet small only 5-6 seats and hidden behind a corner. But they had some great hand crafted cocktails- I had wine but my fiancé had a Bombay IPA cocktail which was part gin, part bitters and pry beer but poured into a glass with a 'foam' on top to make it look like a beer- pretty cool and tasty! Brunch consisted of 3 courses- a salad, soup or small plate, the main course and a desert. We had the bacon slab and the smoked salmon for our appetizers. The bacon was tender and tasted great! The salmon was good too- but you have to like lox and bagels to appreciate it. The main course we had the chicken and waffles and the lobster cake benedicts- both very good!! The flavors were there and good temperatures. The desert was okay- we had the pancake desert which was like a dry pumpkin roll and the French toast desert- which was much better. Overall the food was very good and the service was great! We're looking forward to going back and trying the dinner menu! read more

The Inns of Aurora are spectacular! Our lovely bartender/waitress/hostess was warm and welcoming as well as knowledgeable about the menu in the restaurant. The food was fresh and beautifully presented although we found the salad slightly overdressed (I forgot to say lightly dress, please) and the main course a bit too salty. It was our second dining experience there but we were shocked when the Assistant Manager sat us in a dreary, crowded table in the bar. When we asked to be moved (I was celebrating a BIG birthday) he refused -saying there were only four tops and he needed them. I took pictures of the many two tops that remained available throughout the evening. We were quite upset and ate at the bar where there was more elbow room. Katie went the extra mile and gave us each a glass of Prosecco! Later, the Assistant Manager offered to serve us dessert at a two top near the fireplace. Too late and still no explanation. Dinner ended up being free which was not necessary but nice- but it was never about the money. We are still completely perplexed as to why we were treated this way by said Assistant Manager and not certain we feel comfortable either recommending it to friends and family as a consequence. read more

What a treat! This place far exceeded my expectations and I hope to come back in the near future. It's rare to have a near perfect dining experience but I can't find any fault with this place. We were greeted warmly and the decor was so cozy and lovely. We were sat right in front of the fireplace and i can't say enough of how Much I loved the ambience. Wow! Our server, Brittany, was knowledgeable, friendly and helped create the warm experience at Aurora Inn. The food blew us away. We tried the Seafood Chowder, Foie Gra, Ahi Tuna wraps, Tenderloin, and Scallops- all cooked to perfection. Seriously, each dish was excellent- we devoured every single bite! This place is incredible and deserves much more credit- it's like a hidden gem and we will be back! read more
