Having your older work van crap out on a busy road at the start of a busy schedule is possibly the…read moreworst luck you could have. I pulled it over to a quiet residential street, and the road was immediately covered in coolant. In short, not good! After some careful roadside diagnostics I realised that I would definitely need a mechanic's help to get a functioning pump going and reset my serpentine belt. I called a few places up, but Samson was the only one who could see it the next day. So I bring it in the next morning with a a new pump, ready to go but... it was defective! Had to rush an exchange and they redid the work ASAP. And the road coolant? A busted radiator! Totally unrelated, but they threw it in for a very reasonable labour rate and below market price on the radiator. So I got a pump installed and then reinstalled, my serpentine belt re tensioned, and a new radiator with install for well under $1000. Done after a single day, next day service. Amazing! And they noted another job that might need to be done soon (my van's 20 years old, go figure), but didn't pressure me to do it. Probably my best experience with a mechanic yet!

Small little honest mom and pop autobody shop. They were full but managed to take our car in anyway…read morewhich was nice of them. No gimmicks, no frills, but did good work for real cheap (due to the less expensive parts they secure). In the end though our wrecked controlling arm, trailing arm, etc was replaced for a very reasonable and inexpensive price, the alignment (which they don't have the machinery to do so they referred us to Pacific Alignment) cost us an arm and leg!! We do understand that alignments cost more money but we wish we understood their limitations because we might have just gone straight to Pacific Alignment instead, but I don't know if they would've reduced the price or not. It was just an extra hassle to move the car to Pacific Alignment to finish the work. However, I would still recommend this place because they're honest people doing honest work and they didn't charge us an arm and leg like the KalTire folks (we got a quote from them). However KalTire has great service and Samson's is more a mom and pop neighbourhood autobody. I would choose this place in a heartbeat because I love supporting honest small businesses, and this place is one of them!

The most recent review for this shop appears to be from nearly 10 years ago, and my experience…read moresuggests that customer service and operational capacity may have declined. The repair itself was completed and the quality of the work was acceptable. but the handling of my vehicle raised serious safety and ethical concerns. When I picked up my car, I was not informed that the battery was dead. The battery had only been recharged enough for the vehicle to start and be driven off the lot. I was not told this, nor was I given the option to replace the battery at my expense. This meant I unknowingly drove a vehicle that was at risk of stalling shortly after pickup. This is a significant safety issue. Had the car shut down while I was on the highway or in heavy traffic, it could have resulted in a dangerous situation. The fact that this occurred during an ICBC repair makes it even more concerning. The overall experience felt rushed, as though the priority was to close my case as quickly as possible rather than ensure the vehicle was safe to return to the customer. While the repair was completed, the lack of disclosure, disregard for customer safety, and unprofessional communication are unacceptable.
