This review is a bit overdue. I had a disappointing experience with Aureus. A dead limb fell on my wife's like new 2 year old Honda CRV, smashing the windshield and doing a good amount of damage to the roof, hood and side fender. I had met the owner of Aureus at a business card event where he was talking up the great work his shop did and he seemed like a nice guy.
I stopped by the shop and got a tour with the shop manager, who was very nice, and walked me around showing me everything they had. I told him that I was trying to decide on what shop I would have do the repair and when I mentioned another local shop he smirked and told me that the work Aureus did was far superior.
Wife's car was picked up by a friendly guy driving a flatbed. Repairs were completed in just under 2 weeks which I felt was reasonable since they told me they had to repair all the dents, repaint roof and hood, replace windshield and also take apart most of the dashboard to get into the vents and clean out all the glass.
When repairs were done and I picked up the car the inside of the interior, mostly in the front, looked like a bag of flour had exploded. Every flat or angled surface had a white, powdery residue covering it. I thought, whatever I'm just glad the car is done. I took it home and then as I'm vacuuming out the white powder from the car I decided to start looking more closely at things. Plastic housing around the steering wheel, not lined up. (see pic) Front left fender had a half dollar sized dent on the side that wasn't touched. I called up and complained about the dent and the shop manager apologized to me because he remembered seeing it and acknowledged they missed it. Dropped the car off again and they had it for 2 or 3 days. Even though they had repainted the other areas with dents with this one they just had a specialist bang it back out so if you look at in on an angle you can see the scuff mark left on the clear coat but I wasn't interested in yet another visit so I just accepted it. A short time later the first time we used the heat/AC more of the mysterious white powder residue and a lot of glass fragments came flying out of the vents at us, hitting us in the face and getting all over our clothes. I was told that's why they pulled apart the entire dashboard, to get out all the glass debris! Got out the vacuum once again.
Fast forward 6 months after the initial work was done and all 4 of the rubber gaskets that separate the interior roof of the car from the door start dropping out. You can push them back in but they just pop out again within a couple of days. (see pic) About a year and a half later 2 areas on the hood that they had repaired buckled and caved back in which of course caused a rippling effect in the paint job they had done. (see pic) Not sure how that could happen, but it did.
When I first visited the shop the manager told me they guarantee their work. However the wife and I decided that since she's started getting pretty high miles on the car anyway that we weren't interested in more repeat visits. Besides, if a job isn't done right the first 2 times how many visits should it take to get it right, 3, 4, 5?
Bottom line. They're very friendly at Aureus, but sadly their attention to detail and work quality falls short. read more
