Bookstores are hard to come by nowadays. But bookstores like Auntie's are even harder! We visited this super cute establishment yesterday. I loved every nook and cranny! I especially loved the children's section. The employees were super nice and helpful. I ended only getting 1 book. Wish I got more! When we come back to visit, I'll definitely come back and with my kids!

I liked this store! Well organized, the staff checked on you, and was very clean. They had a huge selection of everything. Even local people. Prices were normal for new books.

Located conveniently on Main Avenue you can find Auntie's Bookstore, an independent bookstore. There is a section for banded books that explains why each book has been deemed "inappropriate." It's also located right across from the romance section. There is also a children's section in the back of the shop. I came by Auntie's for thank you cards. There is a nice selection of greeting cards sold individually and by the box. Auntie's is also the perfect place to pick up a notebook. There is a large selection of leather-bound notebooks in every color and size you can imagine. You can also find stickers, patches, and canvas tote bags.

Lots of different options and sections. I love all the recommendations from the staff. The building is really cool. Will say Barnes and noble had a bigger selection. Great value too.

ALL are welcome here. Hate has NO business here. Love love love!

Bookstores are becoming dinosaurs of the retail world, which makes this place all the more special! The perfect place to browse if you have some time to kill in downtown Spokane. They stock an excellent selection of books and all sorts of other goodies like unique greeting cards, vintage t-shirts, and tons of little gifts and various accoutrements (enamel pins, bookmarks, stickers, etc.). Love that they have a "Hate Has No Business Here" poster on the front door, meaning that ALL are welcome. A great little bookshop!

Maybe this is that only way for independent book stores to survive, just great books throughout.

Inlander - Is there any good reason to hide Nelson Mandela to be almost unnoticeable in the 2013 year in review?

There are children being trafficked and this newspaper has the audacity to state in a formally written article that "trafficking does not occur in Spokane." This is truly a slap in the face for every marginalized person in Spokane. Every female as well. Would they publish an article so blatant, as to say domestic violence doesn't exists no because that might provoke outrage. Yet they got the bright idea to allow someone to publish an article at the height of the exploitation epidemic in Spokane, when there is a task force to combat human trafficking. They are picking on weak disenfranchised even children by spreading this nonsense around the media. When I contacted the author he gas lit me and stated how do you know human trafficking exists? Truly they allowed someone to publish this. I do not know who reads yelp but please join me in boycotting this newspaper. What could improve: After you publish an article in this era that states human trafficking doesn't exist in the inland northwest you are not really for even children's rights. Because it obviously doesn't exist some human rights agency should sue them for this and probably would win for promoting human rights violations rubbish. It's like publishing something that stated; slavery is not a thing during the abolition movement; it's appalling. Really truly think they need to get sued because really truly think freedom of speech should not apply to this trash slavery promoting filth in print. What's next would you publish an article that says serial killed don't exist no but somehow this paper thinks it's suitable to pick on trafficking cases?

What journalist with any sense would hide Nelson Mandela in a photo collage so that he is almost unnoticeable, but puts a full body feature of Kim and Kanye? Sometimes there are good articles, but mostly there is an obvious political slant that plays pretty fast and loose with facts. This is a new low, however. How can you possibly believe that Kim and Kanye deserve more focus than Nelson Mandela? And Barak Obama is front and center. If Mandela had not broken down barriers for the whole world to take in, I seriously doubt that President Obama would have gotten elected. Even more insulting is that Miley Cyrus is also front and center. Does she really rate more influence in our world than Nelson Mandela? This is a new low for you, Inlander. Way to start off the year.

(Unfortunately I literally live on the other side of the country, so before my trip to Spokane ended I made it a point to stop by Atticus multiple times.) The gift shop portion of the store stocks what feels like a little bit of everything. Books, stickers, soaps, lotions, trinkets, home decor, t-shirts, art, books, cards, chocolates...and that's just what I remember! And then the coffee shop portion has a surprisingly large menu. I'm used to coffee shops in stores being more like small coffee stands; but nope, this operation feels like a fully stocked coffee shop. Plus they also serve tea, matcha, and smoothies...and breakfast sandwiches, AND pastries. As you might imagine: this all makes the store smell quite good! There aren't a ton of seats but when I visited with family, we managed to find a couple tables so we could enjoy our drinks and snacks sitting down. Their coffee is very, very tasty - I tried both hot and iced lattes during my multiple visits. I didn't have tea on-site but I did buy some of their blends to brew at home, and they are also very, very tasty. Unfortunately they don't do online sales, and since I was traveling I didn't have the space to pack up everything I wanted to take home with me. Maybe future me will have the chance to come back...in the meantime, I hope you lucky locals appreciate this place as much as I did!

The pretzel was excellent, paired with a crazy good mustard that took it to another level. I ordered the curry, and it was a fantastic dish--rich, flavorful, and downright delicious. My daughter had the kids spaghetti with chicken added, and she confidently declared it the best spaghetti she's ever had... so there! Overall, a great experience with standout service and tasty food. I'll definitely be back to try more from the menu before giving that fifth star.
