Firehouse Subs is a rare sight in Eastern PA, with several closing over the years, so when you find…read moreone it is a treat. This Firehouse Subs is located in the York Marketplace among a strip of other stores. It's large for a Firehouse subs, and has two Coke Freestyle machines. Ordering was fast enough and I went with the Hook & Ladder. It took a while for my food to be ready, but they were not that busy. One of the Freestyle machines was also out of order. As with many places, Firehouse Subs isn't the cheapest place to get a sub, but they are delicious. This one does need a little work, however.

You can't beat the price - for either a cheeseburger or 3 chicken strips, fries, a drink and a small sundae. We saved our coupons for the sundaes for another time - we were full and barely touched the fries. Also it was very busy and wanted to give up our booth for other customers. Only one slight issue- the line at this location for drive through is always congested and tends to block other drivers getting into a parking spot. However not a problem!

(Side note, I can't believe how expensive food and drink at amusement parks have gotten over the years!) There was no line when we came in and so our sandwich order was taken and sandwich was ready in no time. The sandwich was good, but the bread seemed to be a little dry (perhaps par for the course for getting food later in the day). Staff were reasonably friendly, but the tables and floors needed a good wipe down. We asked one of the workers to help and they obliged.

It might have been out too long. I also ordered no cheese and specified it three times but still had cheese on my sandwich. No big deal. I think sandwich makers sometimes are in disbelief that someone doesn't want cheese due to their own eating preferences. They did make up for it with really good pickles though. The sandwich was solid. They put a lot of meat on there and I can tell it's high quality. The chocolate chip cookie was also solid. Other than the cheese, the service was super friendly. I waited 20 minutes for my sandwich due to incredibly high demand (a good sign) and they are a very good and organized operation. Definitely recommended.

They seem to specialize in pretzel rolls for their sandwiches but we felt like just getting some pretzels to go. Sad that they weren't warm, but for $2 each they were cheap enough. We needed to make a dinner stop and were so lucky to find this well reviewed and highly rated Friendlys in Lancaster, PA. I haven't eaten in a Friendly's since my 20s working a job one summer up in Albany, NY but I remember what they do. The food was typical Friendly's fare...nothing incredible but totally fine and perfect for the little kiddies in our party. What made this 5 stars was the wonderful service from our server Rachael. She recognized immediately what was needed. She gave us time to settle in, gave us time to look at the menu, knew the food and made great suggestions. She was there when needed, cleared things away to keep the table chaos at a minimum --- this is not easy with 3 kids, and was genuinely kind and patient. She was quick to get us anything we needed, and there were no delays in getting our food out to us hot and fresh. I was worn out and stressed out from the NY traffic getting out of the city, packing the car, etc, etc and she gave us this relaxing oasis on our journey. When we left, I was energized for the remaining drive home. I've eaten in thousands of restaurants in my lifetime. Everything from ultra fine dining to mom and pop joints, corporate restaurants and independently owned small businesses. Rachael's personable service and professionalism ranks in the top 10 of a lifetime of dining experiences. She did everything right, and we all left happy. If you're in Lancaster PA go visit this Friendly's. The parking lot was full on a Sunday when most places looked empty. Seemed like a lot of locals dining in and taking out ice cream treats. Thanks for taking great care of this Asian American family Friendly's Team!
