I am giving this museum four stars from a perspective of somebody who likes porcelain and who enjoyed digging deeper and learning more about it.
On the other hand, I think that if somebody not so interested in the bigger context of it were to tag along to this museum, they might have just an ok-ish experience, because while the pieces on display are beautiful, in the end of the day there is not that many of them. The beauty of this exhibit is that, aside from showing you pretty pieces of porcelain, it teaches you a lot about porcelain making (starting from the very origins, then covering the specifics of each style that came in fashion, or explaining the ways that porcelain adapted to its changing use and social significance, etc). If you were there only to see the pretty plates and figures, you might be done with the exhibition quite swiftly. I'm not saying it wouldn't be worth a trip, but if you have limited time in Vienna, beware.
The paid exhibition itself is spread over two big halls. The rest of the building holds examples of the manufaktur's current works, a shop, and a restaurant. Also, do make sure to check out the area where you can watch the manufaktur's workers create ceramics live through a glass window. It was fun watching them work meticulously on the little details. You can find this area right behind the big doors by the ticket office.
On a sunny day, the walk to and from the museum is lovely too, as the manufaktur is housed in a pictoresque palace surrounded by big gardens. read more
