My experience with this store is of course how I personally feel. However, they could have over sold me on a stereo that was not suitable to my needs. So I went out and shopped all the car audio shops locally in Vancouver & Portland. Spoke to several people. Explained what I wanted and my budget. Most shops were pushy. Or just wanted me to finance a more expensive option. Which I didn't want to do. These guys took the time to look at what I currently had. Then put together a package that would best meet what I was looking for in my budget. Love this place. Only 4 stars simply because they don't follow up when they say they're going to. My son and I have been there a couple times and had work done. They are very nice and honest about prices and ability to do the job. Each time they say the job will take XX hours, we'll call you when it's ready but they never do. I had a bad experience with a different car stereo shop so thought I would give these guys a try. Very great customer service- I was really impressed. Did an awesome job with the install more importantly. I had some problems with one of the door speakers later on. It was either a bad speaker or not enough battery power for the system. They tried different things and eventually were able to fix it. Not a problem they created but they were still willing to problem solve it. Either the terrible install or overall faulty system they installed almost got us killed, then when I called the customer service to get the car towed with the towing service they provide as part of install package, the company said they didn't have any record of it. I spent 3 and a half hours stuck in the middle of the road , i couldnt even put my car in neutral to push it off road, or roll widow up I was on the phone dealing with this for hours. Then to make matters worse when I towed it in to have them fix there shitty install, the customer service was absolutely terrible. I generally do not write reviews. However, I feel compelled to do so after dealing with Audio Source in Vancouver, WA. I heard of this outfit through informal word of mouth. Twenty years ago, I was up to speed on car auto systems but that was a long time ago and I am now a bonafide ignoramus in this area. I called Aaron Botelho at his shop and recognized immediately that I was dealing with an experienced and capable specialist. Friendly and down to earth, he did not make me feel silly about my lack of knowledge and he walked me through the varying options over the phone and we made an appointment. When I arrived, he and his team greeted me warmly and Aaron confirmed and reiterated his expert viewpoint with respect to what would provide the best system for my needs and budget. The in-shop experience was fun. The install required exactly the amount of time he stated. Aaron went out of his way to double-check that I received the discounts I was entitled and also walked me through a hands-on demonstration to make sure I could rock on my drive home to Portland. I own a 2000 Mercedes ML 320 and I went to this location today to add Bluetooth capabilities to my MCS system. I was helped by a salesman who then passed me off to a Technician. After rambling through the internet and taking a look at my system, the technician says there's no chance and the salesman proceeds to up-sale me on new face units. I left Audio Source feeling like that the answers I got were not good enough, so I went home and searched the internet, and I found the (Blaupunkt adapter for $13.00). Bait & Switch..... I chose & paid for a Viper Car Security System to be installed in my vehicle, they charged me for 4 hours installation, 89$ for an adaptor and and extra 90$ for resistor locks and relay for lights and shop supplies, including the 'Viper' system the total cost was 627.51 I am not a security system connoisseur so when they printed out my receipt, I didn't notice that the word 'Viper' did not appear anywhere on my receipt and that a totally different model# had been selected, eg 3305L was all that was listed in the 'Item' column, and I know now that that is an AVITAL model#, not a Viper model#. That's an important hint to those of you who purchase anything from this store. Make sure the model#'s on your receipt are the actual items you paid for, you will wish you double checked that one. I dropped off my vehicle at 3pm, pIcked it up at 5.30pm. I noticed straight away that I did not have a Viper keyless fob, my fob read AVITAL. I should have been alerted to that red flag. The next day my friends & I broke into my vehicle to test the alarm system, the alarm didn't even chip that a door was opened, there was absolutely no sound at all. On further investigation, I realized they had installed an AVITAL, not the Viper that I had specifically selected and pre-paid. So the next day I returned to AS and spoke with the salesperson who sold me their goods. I stated that I was not happy to find that they had installed an AVITAL rather than a Viper system and that I had broken into my vehicle without the alarm sounding, and that I would like them to take out their AVITAL and give me my money back. The salesperson assured me that AVITAL system was from the same company as Viper and all he had to do is up the sensitivity of the unit. That's kinda like going into Ford and picking out and paying for the F150 and driving away in an Escort and having the salesperson tell me that it's OK, they're both from the same company. My husband returned the vehicle the next day and spoke with Jamal Poe, the manager, who interestingly USED to work for Car Toys in Portland, and he assured us that he would be more than happy to replace the AVITAL system with the Viper, that he was very sorry that we were unhappy with the install, so all we had to do is drop off the vehicle in a weeks time at 9am, which was this morning. What a difference a week makes. This morning we were informed that they 'had' to charge us another installation fee. They would refund the actual incorrect system, you know, the one that they decided to install instead of what we paid for but it's going to cost another installation fee. What a neat scam they have going on. Customer pays for one brand, and they install another and as it was pointed out to us, they don't do refunds, only store credits. Wow, double whammy. We are not letting this go, we have contacted Directed Electronics, who make Viper and our Attorney. Is there anyone else out there who has experienced this bait & switch business scam from this company? read more

I got my husband's truck detailed here and they did an amaaaazing job! His truck was disgustingly dirty- our lab made sure to get as much dog hair stuck in the carpet as possible, not too mention two kids spilling drinks, food, etc. I didn't think it could look new again but when we got it back it was as if we had just pulled out of the dealership again. So I needed a new car radio and stopped by Audio Source. I don't really know that much about car audio systems. I've bought exactly two new cars in my life and upgraded to a non-stock stereo once in my first car circa 1993 and that's it. The CD player stock stereo on my current car died after about 8 years. When I walk in, I was helped by Aaron. I told him what I wanted and he was extremely helpful in going over the different brands and features avaliable. He didn't try to upsale or anything like that. I thought that one of my speakers might be going out. He listened to them and said that they were OK but not the greatest but I might want new ones if I get a new stereo. He talked me thru what all would be involved in the install. I didn't even know they have special kits now so your new stereo will be flush/match up with your dashboard. Needless to say, as a newbie going into this shop who wasn't up on all the different options out there, I walked away with a really nice stereo that totally fits my needs. Top to bottom service at it's best. I worked with Jamal, who is an expert in the business and his attention to detail is second to none. He solved an issue in my F-150 that had been bugging me since I got the truck in 2013. He was able to bypass Ford's LAME audio system and put in a killer JL stealth box under my rear passenger seat. Stealth means stealth! I can't sacrifice space due to the munchkins sitting back there and kicking everything in sight. Brian and his team were AMAZING. I came here to treat myself to a stereo and it was a bit intimidating because I know these systems can get quite expensive and I was worried about getting fleeced for things I didn't want or need. When I said I was treating myself they showed me a top notch set up that was a bit more than I wanted to spend. I asked them to go one step lower and they easily could have tried to keep me at the higher price point but rather walked me through my options. I couldn't pay for the system until I sold my house a month from then and they put the stuff aside for me (with a down payment). In about 2 months I called saying I was ready. Brian asked me about my house. He remembered? He wrote it down? Doesn't matter, that's how you treat a customer. He insisted I bring it down on a day he was working so he could run the job himself. They told me to come back the next day and could have easily given it to me but kept it overnight to make sure some of the installed equipment fully cured. I put a mid grade system in touch screen, subs amp Alpine door speakers, close to 3 grand with install They stayed inside my budget first class install very friendly even updated my firmware for free which meant they needed to take my head unit out because my iPhone cord is plugged in. I went back 4 months later they tinted my 2016 charger first one they ever did came out PERFECT!!!!!!!! Today I went back and upgraded to FOCAL separates Holy cow does it sound great and total custom install flawless... went to. If I could give 0 stars I would. They do their work as quick as possible to get you in and out, not caring about the quality of the job or the customer. I took my 2012 Ford Focus here to get my ignition interlock taken out by Matt. He left the sleeve for the wiring in my engine bay and ever since my horn / alarm hasn't worked. I have a 3 year old daughter that I transport daily, having a horn is a vital safety feature. I wasted my time taking the car back to them multiple times to "figure" it out, only for them to deny fault. Telling me there is a issue with my horn itself. I've had a lot of cars, and can't say I've ever owned one with a horn that didn't work properly. The interlock is tied into the horn. It's not rocket science figuring out who's at fault here, at least to me. Yet, they tried hard to convince me it's a coincidence that it went out at the same time they performed the work. I'll be taking it to the Ford dealership. Ive owned the car for a couple years and never once had a problem with my horn or alarm prior to taking it here. Would not recommend, just go to Car Toys. It may cost you a few extra bucks, but at least you'll have peace and mind knowing they are doing quality work! read more

I've gone here a few times for this or that and during those times I felt I was treated fairly. However, I recently purchased a car that had an aux plug, but wasn't working. They quoted me $75 an hour to look at it, even if it took 10 minutes. I later found out that the plug may not even work with my phone so I would need to purchase parts. Audio source was going to charge me $75 for the initial look (to tell me what was wrong), PLUS parts PLUS $75 an hour to actually fix it. Needless to say I went somewhere else where they did not charge me a fee to determine what was wrong and saved me over $75. I probably won't be back here. read more

Excellent service from the entire staff !!! We have 20 year old cars. I've never felt pushed to buy more than we wanted. We live in Portland but it's worth the short drive across the bridge for such good service. Last year m car was stolen at 9:00am one morning out of our driveway while we were home. I got it back a few days later and decided to install an alarm. I returned this fall to update my car stereo. Late December, after another attempted break-in of our second car, we decided to get an alarm for that car. They fit us in within 48 hours. Dec 31 we dropped off our car. Shortly after we got there, it started to snow. We didn't want to risk trying to drive back to Portland later that afternoon if the roads got rough. The manager offered to keep our car in a secure location until we could come pick it up. Fortunately, the snow was brief and we picked it up the same day. However, the peace of mind and the option to store it for a couple days was PRICELESS. I recommend Audio Source to whoever needs a stereo or alarm. read more
