I've been to Audio Express on two different occasions in 2025 for my '25 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid, first for a hideaway subwoofer/4-door speaker install and second for an amplifier install. The first visit went fine overall: they were pleasant to speak with and price matched with no fuss. They were reassuring and helpful in explaining that the audio gear I was considering (Kicker Hideaway 10", JL Audio C2 650) were quality and should work great in my otherwise stock Tucson. I paid ~$1300 after install. The sub was in-stock and they installed it in a few hours that day but they damaged my passenger footwell kick panel in the process. They apologized and promised to order and install a replacement once it arrived. I returned a few days later once the speakers arrived and they installed those quickly and easily with no further issues. In the months following, everything audio worked great but I never received calls regarding the kick panel replacement. Finally, after calling them 6 or so different times over ~5 months and being told it was simply on backorder, I ordered the part myself from an OEM Hyundai parts supply site and informed them I'd appreciate a refund of that amount + free install, which they agreed to. I recently returned for an amplifier install alongside the install/credit of the kick panel's cost towards the amp's install/purchase. Negotiating this was easy, the conversations always went well and seemed pleasant. The actual installation process was much worse this time around. I was again reassured the install should be a simple one and paid ~$1300 after all. I was told I'd be called when the parts were in so I could drop my car off. I never got a call and had to call myself to check-in and finally schedule. After dropping off my car on 12/2, I finally got my car back today 12/10. Updates on my car's status were very spotty, with me making 5 of the 7 calls total despite being told I would get calls back with updates. Additionally, I picked up my car today and found that my keyfob no longer works wirelessly and my MyHyundai app reports that the tail lights stay on (despite seemingly being off). Google suggests this could be the result of improper wiring. I called once more to ask about this and got no immediate answer, but was told I'd get a call back with more info after they contact tech support. I can just hope my battery doesn't die in the meantime. I'm hopeful they're willing to fix these mistakes and will update this review accordingly. I certainly understand the whole situation is not under their control (part shipping times, complications with newer hybrid electrical systems, other existing customer commitments/appointments), but I'm overall disappointed that I'm experiencing issues like these $2600 and 8 business days of install later. read more

"Food"said they would call with an estimate to remove the aftermarket remote start & replace some wiring. 2 hours later I called them & was told that it was "fixed". Not fixed but they replaced the remote start with a new system to the tune of $650. Exactly what I didn't want. Unauthorized repair. Said they could uninstall it if I didn't like it, for a price, of course. I never did get an estimate for re-doing the wiring & returning it to stock & now I have a new system that works intermittently & will probably fail in a few years, like the last one. . read more

Took my truck in to get some equipment installed the guy took my keys and I asked him how long it would be and his reply was "I have no idea" so being an optimist is left my keys with him since they didn't look too busy this morning. I came back 90 minutes later and my truck wasn't even in the garage yet! I had a Bluetooth component installed in August 2022 on my 2013 GMC, the thing never worked properly, and after months of back and forth it was agreed that the system would be removed, and a credit would be given to be utilized on my daily commuter. The car spent four days at the shop without any curtesy call as to notify me about anything, I was told the installation kit was on back order and when information was available, I would be called. we are approaching June and I never get a call back when they say they will call, and I have called the last two days and they don't even answer the phone. I am planning on filing in small claims court claims court, I have been very patience and understanding during this process, so if you're looking for good customer service this is NOT the place. They charged me twice for the same items and they would not give me a refund The install was not done correctly. my unit was whining a high pitch frequency that was annoying. I took it back the next day and waited 3 hours. They never showed me how to use my new system. $570 and I was still labeled a problem customer that was printed on my receipt. Worst customer service ever. I wish I had a do over because I would never deal with Audio Express again. My radio issues were still not resolved. Mike and Chris both provided exceptional customer service. They were professional, kind, patient, and flexible, especially when I needed some extra instruction on the use of my new equipment, as well as some other needs that I brought to their attention. My communication with the shop was always positive, whether in person or on the phone. They were efficient and timely, and their follow up was excellent. While I've noticed that there are some negative reviews of this business here on Yelp, my experience was entirely the opposite. This was a painless consumer experience, and I'm sure that I'll return to Audio Express the next time I need their assistance. I had purchased a stereo from Audio Express and had a few issues over the last few years with the stereo and when I went into Audio Express I told the manager that I wanted to have the stereo looked at because it was cutting out; I asked him if there would be a charge and he said he would see, his behaviour is always rude. I asked him for his name and he would not give it to me. When I asked him for his manager's name he said to call ABQ Audio Express but would not give me their number. In the meantime I started to record him on my phone and he immediately started recording me on his phone all the while I was asking for his name and for the number of the Albuquerque Audio Express and he continued to film me and not answer my requests. I called the ABQ Audio Express and was told to call the supervisor on 3/3/20 which I did and called Devin Stelton, he said the manager (who it turns out is named 'Food Martinez'???!!! did nothing wrong by not giving me his name because Devin said Mr. Martinez felt the situation had escalated and he was in the right for not giving me his name and for filming me and ignoring me for over five minutes. If you want to get taken advantage of by Miguel Martinez, feel free to take your business to Audio Express #12. I took my Infiniti G35 in for a simple stock radio install, and left with a damaged dashboard that the manager tried to blame on the person who took out the radio. I walked in there at 9AM with a perfect dashboard, and left with 4 places above the radio where the trim clips or some other piece distended the dashboard so badly that it stretched and almost punctured the vinyl. I had both the manager and the tech (who smelled strongly of booze and was likely hung over) feel the places on the dash where something hard was pushing from underneath/behind. After they pulled the radio out and reinstalled (correctly, this time) you couldn't feel the hard pieces anymore. And yet, despite the clear evidence that this was caused by an improper install, he refused to accept liability or responsibility and basically called ME a liar. I'm trying to sell my car and now it's damaged further by irresponsible and disreputable business practices Don't waste your time or your money on this guy...not if you value your vehicle. read more

I was given a backup camera for my birthday so I took it to Audio Express for an install. I was told it would take 2 hours do I left the car there about 2.5 hours later I received a call that they ran into complications and if I wanted to leave my car there. I told them I would pick up the car. It was obvious they never attempted the install. They were probably busy and just lied to me so I took my car to an audio install place next to Beaver Toyota. Not only were they cheaper but they took the car in right away. It's a shame because I've done business with Audio Express before and now I will probably do my business with the new place. I read the negative reviews, but gave them a try anyway because I liked the owner's response to the negative posting. My experience was a good one. There was no "upsell" pressure. I told the tech the features I wanted, and he showed me my radio options and left me to decide for myself. I got a satellite radio, rear camera, and hands free phone hook up. Took about 2 hours and 15 minutes. The install looks good. The tech walked me through how to use everything. I am a satisfied customer. read more

I have had two Sirius systems installed here and am very satisfied with the level of expertise and patience. Some months after the first installation, satellite radio was wonky, Mike discovered a failed tuner, replaced the system and later followed up to make sure everything was running AOK. Great shop of people you can trust. I needed a new headunit but couldn't spend that much, so I shopped around. Super Sound offered a lower price, but as someone else posted on Yelp, I found the shop staff to know very little about their products. Audio Express was happy to beat the price. The person I dealt with at Audio Express was great - he knew what I needed to fit my my own system, making sure I had a head unit that had 3 sets of preouts (that was more expensive than the one I had wanted) so he matched the same price. Spent over $2100 to get a new stereo in my truck. 15 minutes after I drove out of the shop it wasn't working. Went back, they told me it was a loose wire,. It worked for almost a week then same problem, took it back in and they told me it was the brand new speakers had blown, that cost me over $50. less than a week later the same problem, took it back and they told me the back doors were full of water, even tho they said it wasn't their fault they didn't charge me for this. I asked to see it and they said "sorry already dried it out". Intermittent problem ever since and the rear door window quit working.. Took it to the dealership cost me over $130 to have them look it over for the water in the doors. Mechanic said doesn't look like water has ever been in their and they plugged my window switch in, which was left unplugged from the visit to Audio Express. Left the door panels off and went through the car wash and no leaks. My question is How many times should I have to bring the vehicle back to get a stereo that works all the time? read more

Please don't waste your time at this Audio Express. There's a definite reason why the rating here is so low. I called the audio express in Abq and told them about my issues and they said please just come in and they would take care of me as I had already spent over $500 getting work done well aware of their installation guarantee. I came into this location to get work done and the manager was super rude right off the bat. He had his workers asses what was wrong (very basic simple issues) and then refused to fix them after I brought up the installation guarantee. He accused me of trying to get things for free. It was easy to tell this guy didn't like me the second I walked in. I called the branch in Abq and they apologized for this managers terrible attitude and said they would be happy to fix all my issues no problem. But I stopped by and the guy at the front desk says to me : " Can i help you?" to then directly turn his face and start talking to an employee about something the employee was doing. For the same exact job, Super Sound charged me $189. I bought my sub from Audio and had always been pleased in the past, but my guess is I have been paying much more for all of these years, and for now on I will go to Super Sound. read more

Brought my car in for a wiring issue, not only was it not fixed, the staff LIED to me about what was wrong and tried to sell me new speakers. They did the original wiring but refused to take responsibility for it. I knew for a fact that it was bad wiring and when I took my car elsewhere they agreed and fixed it with no problems. Took our truck to audio express. After waiting 6 hours we got the truck back with the train horn wired incorrectly and grease stains on the interior of our brand new truck. Chris at Audio Express #12 in Santa Fe did a great job pricing and installing a Jensen flip out car radio two years ago in my son's car. Now, in August 2015, I purchased another Jensen car radio with navigation system for this car, which he installed. At my request, he then installed the original radio in a second family vehicle at nominal cost. Everything was done very efficiently and professionally. What I particularly like is that Chris has been readily available to answer any followup questions about the operation of the two radio units. If he doesn't immediately know the answer, which is rare, he finds out and gets right back to us with the correct information. I have no complaints about the products and service I have received and look forward to working with Chris and Audio Express in the future. read more

I decided to have a car alarm installed in my vehicle, mostly for the remote start. I took my vehicle in to Audio Express in Santa Fe, was quoted a lower price and wound up paying more than I was quoted, a lot more. The price wouldn't have been an issue however the alarm wasn't installed properly and because of that it potentially could have damaged my vehicle. The problem first occurred when the check engine light kept turning on. While I was still at Audio Express, I brought the check engine light to their attention. They plugged a code reader into the vehicle and cleared the error. Next morning I started my vehicle and there was the check engine light on again. I called Audio Express and explained what was happening. They asked me to take the vehicle in to the shop so they could check what was happening. I did, when they couldn't determine the issue, the manager of the shop stated that he talked to his installer and the installer stated the check engine light was already illuminated before he started work, which was a lie. After talking with the manager several times, I asked to have the alarm removed and refunded my money! He said that they would charge me to remove the unit and they would not refund my money because the contract (small print) states "No Refunds". At this point I was fairly upset with the horrible the customer service and installation, and decided to take my vehicle else where to have the alarm installation checked. When the panel under the drivers side was removed all the wiring fell out like spaghetti, I was fortunate enough to witness the verification of the Audio Express install. What they found was several of the alarm wires were connected to the wrong vehicle wires. They stated that because the wiring was misplaced onto a transmission wire it could have severely damaged my transmission. This is because the remote start was affecting the transmission when it was starting the vehicle. I'd seriously reconsider taking your vehicle to Audio Express. Consider the complexity of your vehicles wiring. Troubleshooting a bad install could lead to hundreds of dollars in damage. read more

*** BEWARE ***, DON'T GO TO AUDIO EXPRESS, Had Audio Express replace the speakers in our car because of vibration noise when at max. When we went to pick up our vehicle, found stereo did not work at all. Audio Express said the factory Bose system does not have enough power to make speakers work. They should have sales people that know the correct equipment to install in your car. They also damaged the drivers door trim panel, gouge the lock switch when prying off the trim panels and left dirt and grease all over them. They should higher people with more experience for sales and installation. I think they did more damage to our vehicle then what we paid to have wrong speakers installed So now we have a car with a stereo system that does not work, Damage door panel, damaged passenger door lock knob, and dirt all over interior trim panels. And to top it off, THEY DON'T CARE.. I think if they replaced the stereo, it still won't work and most likely they will ruin the cars electrical system. This business needs to be shut down. Do not take your vehicle here. I brought my vehicle in and told Martinez I had a loose wire that needed to be fixed, again. I had previously brought my vehicle in twice where the guys fixed it temporarily. I told 'Foodie' the wiring issue, and he said he'd look at it. Half an hour later I come back to find he pulled out my stereo and that he wanted to sell me a stereo. I asked him 'Does my stereo work?' he said yes. I said 'Does my amplifier and crossover work?' he said yes. Im argueing with him about how everything works and he's trying to sell me a stereo, when I brought my truck in for wiring issues! I told him I like the sound, just when I go over speed bumps or my bumpy dirt road I loose connection. I didnt stutter and thats exactly what I told him when I brought my truck in. He said then he was going to charge me $50 dollars for labor and Im like what for, you didnt do what I asked you too. So then he's like "oh well, ill pull out the seats', like it was a threat, and I said 'don't do anything else becuase who knows what the hell you're going to do and how much Im going to have to pay.' I call him later and ask exactly what happened cause you just ripped me off $50 bucks, and he said for me to come back in and he'll take out my seats or put the $50 to a new stereo. After getting home and reading further reviews, Ill never step foot in this place again and will relay my bad experience to anyone I know needing stereo service in Santa Fe. read more
