A lack of customer service all over. I couldn't find a book to figure which part I needed on the floor. I asked an associate about it but he said "I am busy, go wait in that line. No problem, I wait in a 4 person line for the info I need. I then got to the front of the line and asked for help with my part number and got a very rude response. No worries, thanks for the info, I will go elsewhere where they treat customers better. I ended up at O'Reilly's and got a better price, and better customer service. Well, it's Thanksgiving, my battery has been a bit sluggish the last two weeks. I had plans to change it out two days ago but had to work an extra shift so move forward 2 days. Heading out to lunch invited to a Thanksgiving lunch, my car is just clicking g. Great it's dead. My friends come to pick me up, had a nice lunch and decide to see who's open to get a battery today. Autozone is and can swap it out for me. Wrong!!! Because it's a 2000 Dodge intrepid, the battery is under the air filter. YouTube shows a simple procedure, one flat screw driver, and two wrenches. Autozone was quiet, the guys there not doing a lot. Buy the battery then comes the stalling and mumbling. Well we can't do it coz, um, it takes extra work. I tell them what tools are needed. Um we'll, I might break something. Um well, um, you need a mechanic... Um well let me check the boss.... Um, he said no. But we can lend you the screwdriver. Trust me it's quiet there, I saw three guys, strong, young etc but none willing to help. It took me over two hours, badly bruised thumb, smashed nail and one long gauge on my wrist but I did it, wow. Autozone team in Santa Fe, your one bunch of lazy asses. You really are. The 'um' and 'er' etc was pathetic, your work ethic is poor, your customer service severely needs addressing . If I could have waited which sadly I couldn't, I would have gone to Pep Boys, as they will change it out without the whining and pathetic moaning. People, if you really can wait, go elsewhere, this place if you don't need any assistance what so ever you might go here, but as for true service, forget it. I guess there mums really failed on how to treat women in this obviously male dominated employed area of auto stuff. Definitely go elsewhere if you need advise, assistance or any real help, as the list of batteries I had to view on his computer I had to work out what was the best. As he said there all the same except for the warrantee period, but I saw 660 and 800 in a few which meant some were stronger. I questioned that and he admitted the 800 was stronger than the 660. Wow, he was not even going to go into any effort in trying sell anything. Boys, what went wrong with you, no manners, no courtesy, no assistance, no help, just whiners who want to sit on there ass and do nothing. Maybe it's because they're working Thanksgiving, maybe I am female I don't know but these men, and I won't use gentleman are really lazy and pathetic. Those batteries are heavy as he rang up the sale and I grappled it back to the car. Lazy incompetent Assholes. Never again will I go back and I encourage all to do the same. We have competitors. I was out of town on a business trip and my front headlight was burned. I called the AutoZone and the sales guy was very helpful over the phone. The employees attempted to assist me with changing the headlight bulb, but unfortunately they were not able to complete since it would require too much unscrewing of bolts. I appreciate the time they took to offer me help. Fortunately, my boyfriend was able to fix it for me the next day in a couple minutes. read more

Superb service and value. I had a car battery that died. They ended up replacing it entirely, despite it being on the cusp of the guarantee period. I realize they could have just made me pay for it. Instead I am hopelessly dedicated to shopping exclusively at AutoZone from now on. I am usually very critical in my reviews, but cannot rate these guys highly enough. I confess that I don't think it was the fault of the battery that it died, but rather my not driving the car frequently enough. They have been equally helpful at the ABQ location as well. Their database means that you don't need to save sales receipts if there are issues. Techs seem to be well-trained and prices are fair. read more

Within a year the part went bad. They at first said they would honor lifetime warranty than suddenly changed their mind. They went to my mechanic and scrapped my old part without my permission. Spoke to Autozone Customer Rep and he never got back to me. Salesperson hung up the phone on me. New Mexico Autozone is the worst. Their parts are junk and their salespeople are vindictive. Save yourself a lot of time, trouble and attempts at public humiliation from employees at Autozone and instead...go to O'Reillys on Airport road (a mile or so past Cerrillos) and see Greg Baca there. I'm just a customer with an '89 Honda Prelude that needs some parts and I am not affiliated with either store. My mechanic sent me to Autozone and I thought he meant the one on Cerrillos. The two young men who "helped" replied to my questions with "It depends" For example how often does a timing belt on Honda Prelude '89 need to be changed reply: "it depends." I said, what does Honda recommend? So he looks it up and it's "60,000 miles." Ok I say I would like the timing belt kit. He said it isn't available. So my next request is to purchase the parts that come in the kit and between this employee who didn't understand my request (or he just wouldn't say - ( "I DON'T KNOW) and a second who ran the conversation in circles I became frustrated and left. As I was on my way out he shouted "Have a great day." And other customers and employees laughed. I phoned my mechanic from the parking lot and he told me to go to O'Reillys on Airport Road (in Santa Fe) and see Greg Baca. Once there, I asked Mr. Baca how often I should change a timing belt on a Honda Prelude and he said "off the top of my head, I'd say every 60,000 miles." "Exactly right", I replied. How much is the kit? He looked up the kit and moved the screen to show me all of the parts that come with the kit. (He answered the question I posed to Autozone employees and they never understood that (?).. Greg gave me a price. My car is old so I know there may be more to ordering the kit and/or parts within it. Greg said it didn't look like the kit was available from his TX supplier and would I get the VIN number from my car. So Greg has my VIN and cell number and he is going to get back to me when he can spend "the time this deserves" - his words - to find the kit or parts comprising the kit. fyi: My mechanic didn't tell me I needed to get the parts myself. He just suggested that I may get a better deal if I shopped around - he gave me the option. I just phoned Dominic the story manager of autozone and he is now aware of my customer experience. Perhaps I will print this and send it to their headquarters, because nothing seems to change for the better at autozone. I feel sorry for future customers who waste their time there and get treated poorly. Go some where else. I recommend O'Reilly's - on airport. read more

I always go to this one because it's the closest to my house. I wish they could hire some real car peeps. I came in to get windshield wipers, and they told me to get the wrong size. Stopped in to buy a Bosch windshield wiper for the back window of my SUV. One guy just looked at us and quickly looked away, as to say "Nope, don't even bother me". Another guy appeared so we asked him for our part. He begrudgingly went behind the register and started searching on his computer for it. He finally found it then physically turned the screen around toward us (for us to view) and said "Here, here it is, look at the number on it and go find it in aisle three". We were confused at first as most Autozones around the country will search/ find/grab the product from their stock and come out and put it on the car for the customer. He was in no way wanting to do anything like that! It was as though he had a chip on his shoulder for having to "serve" us. What? We looked at one another and then went to the aisle and searched for the item. After 5 minutes of searchng all the tiny numbers on the aisle of boxes we gave up and returned to the desk ask for his help in finding it. The guy was chatting on the phone and would not even acknowledge us. So, we just left, drove a few blocks down to O'Riley's Auto parts on Cerrillos Rd... and within 5 minutes had a nice, pleasant young man (who was super happy to have gainful employment) install a Bosch windshield wiper on our car (and for $5 less than what the lazy man at Autozone had 'shown us' on his computer screen as to what the price was). No wonder there were so many shoppers (yet plenty of friendly service) at O'Reilly's while it was nearly empty at Autozone. I get it NOW!! Will not ever be stopping here again. O'Reilly's is the place to go! :)) read more
