November 11, 2025…read more First of all, a great 2025 Veteran Day to all. November 11, 1918 the eleventh hour Military time 1100 so eleven oh clock a.m. the treaty was signed, it ended the violence at that time. To all that served, to all those that are still serving, thank you! I represent USA Navy, but other branches are just as important! When the Military songs are played, yes I stood for Anchors Away for USA Navy! Update now one thousand three hundred eighty of any comments! After the Veteran Day 2025 parade, I went into Baked And Brewed. Cost $9.60 with tax instead $10.78 with tax because I pay cash instead using Crediting Cards! From there, went to an area that by way of Auburn State Theater is showing The Great Escape! The theater still being repaired, still being renovated! Therefore this movie sponsored by Auburn State Theater is being shown at this other location! Yes it is still sponsored by Auburn State Theater! Free popcorn other refreshments are a small cost! Many people did show up for this movie! Best of luck to this Auburn State Theater! My previous of this comment for Auburn State Theater has total thirty one USEFUL, FUNNY, COOL votes! Best of luck to the theater, to the employees, to the volunteers of this wonderful theater in town Auburn, California, that is Placer County! It will be nice when all the repairs and all the renovations are finished!

The Auburn State Theatre is such a treasure…read more Built in 1930, the historic venue is a modification of its original version. Gone is the balcony seating and additional screens from decades before. It is now a singular 350-seat non-profit theatre run by friendly volunteers. As I write this, the theatre is temporarily closed for some needed repairs and restoration work. I seriously cannot wait until it reopens, as I come here pretty regularly with friends to enjoy the adventure documentaries that this theatre prominently features. The State Theatre is always super clean, the seats are comfortable, and there truly isn't a bad view of the screen anywhere you sit. Plus, the volunteers make really good popcorn and serve local beer and wine at reasonable prices - all to benefit this fantastic historic theater. I've seen several inspiring films here, but a recent screening of "Buried: The 1982 Alpine Meadows Avalanche" was particularly moving for me as it was also followed by a Q&A with not only the filmmaker but also a few key people from the documentary. I really look forward to seeing more amazing films at this historic theatre and encourage everyone to check them out when they reopen!

I was in Folsom for a Yelp Elite event and decided to explore historic Sutter Street afterward. I…read moresaw a large gathering of people at Zittel Family Amphitheater and heard a loudspeaker, so I went to take a look, hoping for live music. Even better, I had arrived just in time for a free "Shakespeare in the Park" performance of Romeo & Juliet! The production is put on by Take Note Troupe (TNT), a nonprofit community theater organization for young people. A kind family with two teenagers in the play allowed me to sit by them and offered me one of their lawn chairs. The mother had been there reserving seats since 4 PM, so I really lucked out! The family shared the history of TNT and its participants. Two homeschooled teens asked their mothers to them Shakespeare, and this eventually led to the birth of this community Shakespeare in the Park. 10th graders to recent high school graduates were allowed to audition for this first-time Shakespearean tragedy choice. Usually, a Shakespearean comedy is picked. Most of the participants are from Roseville, and rehearsals are also in Roseville. However, students from as far as Auburn and Galt will participate as well. As I wasn't expecting to watch an outdoor performance, I wasn't prepared to be outside for hours. The first half was nearly 1.5 hours. I didn't bring water, a jacket, or a blanket. After the sun goes down and with the location near Lake Natoma, the temperature becomes cool and breezy. The Folsom amphitheater also didn't seem to have many public restrooms, so I decided to leave at intermission. I had been out since 3 PM, so I was getting tired. I would have stayed for the full performance had I been prepared. The modernized Romeo & Juliet performance was fun. I liked the group dance performances set to upbeat music. Juliet was impressive with her elocution. The balcony scene didn't look or feel right to me; I think I wanted more romance and eye contact. Some characters, like the nurse and the impulsive, easily offended young men involved in the fights, came across as comical or foolish, which I never realized before. I appreciated the costume color coding of the Montagues (blue) and the Capulets (gold). Because I didn't know the cast, I followed along with script. I noticed some omissions. Not sure if that was intentional, perhaps to keep the play shorter or more PG. Or perhaps people forgot their some of their lines? I doubt most people would notice. Here are the remaining Romeo & Juliet performances: https://jaimehughes.com/takenotetroupe/events/ Tue 6/6/23 Zittel Family Amphitheater in Folsom 7:30 PM to 10 PM Wed 6/7/23 Zittel Family Amphitheater in Folsom 7:30 PM to 10 PM Thu 6/8/23 Quarry Park Amphitheater in Rocklin 7:30 PM to 10 PM Fri 6/9/23 Quarry Park Amphitheater in Rocklin 7:30 PM to 10 PM Sat 6/10/23 Quarry Park Amphitheater in Rocklin 7:30 PM to 10 PM Many thanks to Take Note Troupe for the lovely Monday evening entertainment! I also enjoyed the Beatles music, the simple yet elegant staging for this play, and the choreography. My friends, who don't generally enjoy Shakespeare, really liked it as well. Well done, cast and crew! You have a new fan.

Vikram is very professional, and at the same time, super easygoing, flexible, adaptable to changes, and makes the effort to get to know you, your vision for the performance, and really delivers. Never once did I feel like it was hard to get a hold of him or that he was annoyed by tweaks to the plan day of. Since we love magic, and my husband is a skeptic and loves sleight of hand, I opted for the mixed package with a bit of sleight of hand and mentalism as well. It was the perfect show for a room full of adults and his energy and tricks were mind blowing. He kept us entertained the entire hour, and even shared some new tricks that he had been working on. We are still trying to figure out how he was able to fool us all - THAT CLOSE. Haha, needless to say, my husband has claimed this, his BEST birthday surprise yet. We look forward to hiring Vikram again for future family/corporate events and highly recommend him!
