We were able to put the fan on continuously medium which allowed the AC to keep a steady, comfortable temperature. One note of poor design- the shower door opens outward on the side away from the controls, so you've got to be under the shower stream while you quickly adjust the temperature. Brrrr. Also, the same design makes you open the door into the room where it drips on the floor until you're full out. A bit strange. A nice breakfast at a reasonable price is available just off the lobby. For under $10, either full buffet or omelets/eggs made to order with waitress service. Free at some Honors levels. Housekeeping was responsive and friendly. The hotel is in a trendy area of Auburn and a 15 minute straight drive to Skaneateles, a beautiful lake-front tourist destination.

I'm actually glad I didn't read the reviews on this place before I booked it as I might not have,…read morehowever now that I did book it and I am checked in I don't expect any problems the rest of the night. I booked a room online through Expedia a couple weeks ago, and it quoted me a price. Now check in is typically around 3:00 however I arrived around 11:30 in the morning and my original reservation was for a king size executive room which included a sofa bed for a third person that I was bringing, however I didn't have the third person so I asked if I could possibly switch rooms to just anything else with a king size and maybe it would be ready now? The nice guy at the front counter named Matt took a look and said yes we have one right now if you would like it. Why yes I would . So I checked in at 11:30 a.m. and he quoted me the price for the new room which was $20 cheaper than I had already booked for, which made sense because it was not an executive room I was now getting it was just a standard king-size room. I swiped my card and went to the car to get my bags and noticed that I was charged the same price that I would have paid for the executive, which isn't really a big deal it's only $20 but only and I mean only because he quoted me the lower number I went up and asked him. He was more than happy to volunteer to lower my room rate to what he had said instead of what it had charged. Like I said it's only $20 and had the new room cost the same as the other one I wouldn't even have cared as I got the extra value by being able to check in at 11:30 in the morning, but Matt hooked me up. I'm in the room right now and it seems clean, it has plenty of space for what I need, there's a Keurig sitting here with various coffee pods available. The end tables near the bed both have three outlets a piece on them which in my personal opinion is a bonus because everybody has a phone plus in our case a noise machine so we can sleep better and maybe you want to plug in your laptop or something... there are plenty of places. There's also your standard microwave, TV set... Not a huge one by any means but a flat screen and seriously who goes on vacation or stays in the hotel so they can hang out in the room and watch TV? Bathroom is pretty spacious, also seems pretty clean. Oh and while I'm thinking about it.. let me get off topic for a little bit ... 2 other people that left reviews on this place mentioned homeless people cutting through the parking lot and one of them saying something like you better lock your car. I'm sorry but just because you're homeless doesn't mean you're a thief does it? And just because you're dressed in older clothes perhaps doesn't mean you're homeless? I mean I've seen some pretty sketchy looking people in my life but I don't actually tap them on the shoulder and ask if they are almost or not and I also don't assume that they are..

I tried using my thermostat turning up to 74 degrees, and it didn't kick on at all. After about 30 minutes of waiting for it to turn on, it didn't. I went down the front desk around 10:20 and the lady sent up Scott, to look at my heater, but before he came in my room, I told him "There is a space heater in here, but I don't feel comfortable using it." He responded "Oh, people use them all the time" and offered to bring me another one. I then talked to my boss, and she called the front desk, to talk to whoever. Then at 11:30 the guy called and offered to move me to a different room, I declined because it was already 11:30 and I had quite a bit of things with me. So, at this point, I accepted that I was sleeping with no heat. I bundled up and used the 2nd blanket. It was miserable. The next morning, I go down to check out, and I told the lady at the front desk about my stay and that she was "super sorry and appreciated me telling her." I also explained that I wanted a refund and she told me that her GM had to do that. After leaving my boss called back there and talked to the lady at the front desk, and she used that they offered to move me, but I didn't want to against me. She then, sent my boss to the GM office fully aware that the general Manager wasn't even there yet. We still haven't heard back from the GM, and we will NOT be staying at this hotel ever again.

Gail and Gary are just wonderful people who invite you in to share a piece of their home. We are a younger couple (early 30s and late 20s), so in some B&Bs I find a bit of fussiness from the proprietors that makes me feel like I am in a museum rather than a relaxing, homey sanctuary. Well that is NOT a problem here! Wicker Garden is personable. Guests have access to a common living room with fireplace and cozy couch, snacks, wine glasses, mugs, coffee, tea, etc. We sat here one evening chatting away with Gail and Gary, then ordered a pizza delivery. Gail provided us with plates and everything we needed to enjoy a night in (in our amazing accommodations, which brings me to the room....) Rose room- spacious, with a stately canopy bed, a gas fireplace, a couch and a huge bathroom with a jacuzzi tub and plenty of hot water. It was truly our sanctuary for a wintry weekend. The bed had beautiful coverlets and sheets, down pillows. I don't sleep as well at home! And even on 0 degree days, it was plenty toasty all day and night. Now what's a B&B without a wonderful breakfast? This one was top notch. Great, fragrant coffee served in large one-of-a-kind mugs. It seems like a baked fruit, a warm bread and an egg dish makes a basic template for what to expect, and Gail can accommodate any dietary needs. Finally, the grounds/location are picturesque. I only regret I forgot to read or ask about the history of the property. There is a red barn and plenty of open surrounding fields, stars out bright at night. Even snow covered, it looks like the cover of a story book. I highly recommend a stay here. You really can't go wrong. And it was conveniently located for wine touring and proximity to the town of Auburn.

My husband was uncertain of sitting on the furniture as he wasn't sure if it was just age or dirty/hadn't been cleaned. I had no problem with the cleanliness myself. The bed was a full size rather than the queen I reserved but the mattress itself was fine and comfortable to sleep on- it did its job of being a bed. The bathroom had seen better days and I couldn't plug the tub but I'm a shower person so I could live with it. There was larger sized mini-fridge, plenty of space to land items, and a good amount of seating in the room. I didn't have an issue with noise but I also view hotels like apartments- you're going to hear people moving around and sometimes question what the heck they are doing. The virtual check in had an out of order sign during my stay, so there was an actual person at the front desk for check in and check out, but watch for virtual in the future. Because it's right in downtown Auburn I didn't begrudge the lack of breakfast- you can literally walk to any number of eateries or a grocery store or a bar if you want. I didn't see vending machines or obviously purchasable items in the hotel, so if the town is closed up you are kinda screwed there. Again, if you're just looking for a bed it will do, but the place definitely needs some care, repair, and updates if it really wants to shine again.

The job that my wife and I have requires us to work some rather odd hours so when we do stay somewhere being able to sleep at some rather odd hours is always a bonus. And by saying being able to sleep what I mean is people checking out at 10:00 a.m. with their kids running up and down the halls making noise and the hotel staff cleaning the rooms sometimes having loud conversations. All of this is perfectly fine usually because typically nobody is trying to sleep at 10:00 in the morning except for me. This place worked out well because they have individual bungalows. There is no hallway to run up and down and make noise and make noise, there are neighbors but there's a space in between each bungalow so you're not going to hear them. We didn't actually check in for my Friday night stay until about 8:00 a.m. Saturday morning. It was nice and quiet and we were able to get to sleep rather quickly. The room itself was super clean, The kitchen did not have a stove or a hot plate however we weren't really in need of one. They did have some snacks available as complimentary in the room. Nothing huge I mean a couple granola bars and some oatmeal and a couple little bags of chips however compared to other places I've stayed that offer nothing except a vending machine down the noisy hallway... Yeah this was much better :-) If you're looking to do something in the Skaneateles area , this place is literally 2 minutes down the road from the center of town. They of course offer a late check in arrangement that I was very happy to take advantage of. They leave your room key in a secure area with a note that has any information you may need and an emergency phone number if you need to wake them up for anything. So I by all means recommend staying here If you're in the area.
