The building is about 104 years old, so think of thin walls and creaky floors. I didn't mind them. The bed was comfortable and the decor is quaint. Breakfast was good. I had the French toast and my boyfriend had the omelet. It came with fruit salad, drinks and cheese. Pierre, the owner, is an amicable person who recommended a lot of places to visit and is the reason my boyfriend came back from his previous experience here and brought me along this time. Overall, it was an enjoyable place and I had good experience here.

His B&B is located in a beautiful historical building and is a walk from everything you need in Ottawa. Plus, he lives right next door - so he is always ready to help. His rooms are clean, and the beds are comfortable. There are two bathrooms (and one room with another private bathroom) that are also clean and charming. The best part about your stay is the breakfast he will make you. You have many options: eggs, toast, crepes, croissants, cheese (oh, the cheese!), jams, cereal. Whatever you may want - he will prepare it for you. Also, he buys everything from local farmers and markets to fully support the local economy. Great host, great rooms, and great breakfast - all in the perfect location. What else would one want from a B&B?!

We came for the Ottawa Marathon and the Avalon B&B made the stay perfect. Can't wait for the next one!

Really enjoyed our stay this past weekend at Moonstone Manor!…read more This B&B is located in a large, newly renovated home. There are three guest suites each meant for two adults, so at any given time there are at max 6 adult guests. Combined with being out in the country, this means that it is nice and QUIET! A rare and refreshing quality. There are many things to praise but I cannot continue without mentioning that Susie and Mark, the owners, are the best asset of this business. They are both incredibly welcoming, hospitable, and attentive, while also being conscious of giving you space as a guest to do your thing. Upon checking in, Susie sat down with us to discuss breakfast. She is careful to note any allergies or aversions, and to review the menu in advance! We were able to schedule our breakfast for any time between 7-9am. Breakfast itself was generous and more importantly, delicious! We had yogurt with fruit and homemade granola, quiche, potatoes, a stuffed tomato, juice, and all the coffee we could drink. The last thing I want to focus on is that this house is remarkably CLEAN. Susie and Mark have two friendly, quiet dogs and two cats, but unless you are looking right at them you'd never know it. I am actually allergic to dogs and cats, and had zero reaction during my two night stay. In her past Susie worked in a healthcare field and it shows...this is one of the cleanest houses I've ever been in. But it did not feel sterile and cold, quite the opposite. I happened to be visiting for a wedding in Kanata but I will happily stay at Moonstone Manor anytime I need to be in the Ottawa area. It's a quick 20 minute drive downtown to the ByWard Market/Parliament/National Gallery/etc. I can't see myself ever getting a hotel in the city knowing that this is an option. All that to say, if you are thinking of staying here, do it!

And at the Bella Notte B&B, you can have your breakfast any time you want, as long as it is between 8:00 and 9:00. My fiance and I have stayed in a few B&B's and while the turn of the century house is well kept, the rooms nice, and the breakfast good, nothing really stands out as being exceptional, especially seeing as it was the most expensive place we've stayed. The owner was a touch overbearing compared with other B&Bs we have frequented. Her hovering made the stay somewhat awkward for us and we felt sorry for the nice people from Germany who were also staying there, too polite to extricate themselves from the optionally mandatory 8:30 Sunday breakfast like we did.

It's situated in a great location and is within walking distance to Parliament, Major's Hill Park, and Rideau Canal. You can even walk to Elgin Street from there. My boyfriend and I drove to Ottawa from Jersey, driving through Pennsylvania and New York State. After seven hours on the road, we were beat. Luckily, we found a parking spot in the hotel's available underground parking garage and went through check-in at the front desk fairly quickly. When we got to our room, we dropped our bags and rested. The beds were comfy and the room was nicely decorated. The bathroom had a shower and there were Aveda toiletry products on the sink counter (loved them). We didn't get one of the rooms facing the lobby, so our window looked out to the street. Overall, I liked our room. Plus, there is free Wi-Fi. There is a restaurant downstairs. Didn't try the food, but we had a couple of beers there after a long day of sightseeing. The gym in the hotel was good - it has variety of machines and free weights. The hotel also has a pool. Also, there is a little business center where you can use a computer and printer; I pulled up our MapQuest directions there which was very helpful. Next time I come to Ottawa, I'll most likely book here. Highly recommended!

The Victorian Suite is quite large and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious, but you do have to choose from a set menu that offers tempting crepes as a standalone (no eggs or sausage with them). The neighborhood is quite diverse and surprisingly close to a large number of homeless individuals, which are mostly avoided if you turn right on Daly Ave when leaving the inn. The streets felt safe enough and no one tried to engage with us; it's just a depressing site so close to the college campus and Byward Market area.

The washroom was a good size considering this is a historic home. I like the antiques decorating the home. Breakfast & wifi are included in the room rate which was reasonable for the area. Breakfast is a choice of eggs with sausage or different flavours of crepes. You can choose from an 8am sitting or a 9am sitting. You sit down at a table & they will take your order. It's so nice to have fresh cooked food. Plus there's cold cereal & fruit salad on the side. As for location it's great if you like walking. It's about 10 minutes walk to Rideau Center (a large mall) & the Byward Market. There's a couple of supermarkets & convenience stores about 5 minutes from the Inn for snacks or cheap meals. If you have a car it can be difficult as there is limited parking at the hotel & if you don't get one then you have to park on the street. As for the atmosphere of this Inn I liked it. It's more like a hotel in that the owners let you have your space. The last B&B we stayed in the owners would come & chat with us when we had breakfast. I have to admit I'm more partial to talking to a local & hearing their stories. You get a better feeling of the city that way.

The interior was nicely decorated, modern, bright, and quite spacious. There were many luxurious aspects to this place: Lagostina cookware, Aveda soaps/shampoos/conditioners, Smart TVs in the living room and bathroom, a rain shower head (plus a movable shower head if a rain shower isn't your thing), en-suite laundry, a movie room and gym (of course these were closed due to the pandemic), even a little balcony. The concierge wasn't in at the time of our arrival and check-in was seamless. Soho Champagne communicated with me prior to check-in to ensure all my questions were answered. Plus, this place is conveniently located near Little Italy and Chinatown. I wished that we were able to stay longer. There are 3 reasons that I knocked off a star. Before I get into these, I'll mention that I was given a number to call if I had any problems with the room, but I didn't think any of the problems were worth calling about. First, the remote to open the garage didn't work from inside the car (maybe low/no battery?) and I had to get out of the car each time to get the garage door to open. Second, upon check-in I took a shower and there were 2 long and noticeable hairs stuck to the wall of the shower. Finally, I could not for the life of me get the TV in the bedroom to work. For the price of the room, I'd expect a bit more attention to detail in these areas. All in all, we had an amazing time and would definitely stay at Soho Champagne again.
