I do LOVE Aux Bienfaits, though, and they have incredible incredible cakes/desserts as well. They're usually pretty nice, but can get annoyed with you if you take too long to order or get confused. I have to give HIGH honors to their maple soft serve and their milk chocolate AND salted caramel chocolate coatings. Also here's a tip to get more chocolate: ask for your soft serve in a bowl, but ask for the size ice cream you want in a cup one size UP. This allows the soft serve to be fully coated with chocolate. If you don't want to ask for a cup, you can also ask for your cone double dipped.

Their chocolate is sublime - smooth, delicate, flavourful. We got quute a number of things, from their standard chocolate bars (dark chocolate rice bark, dark chocolate with raspberry and toasted nori) to their truffles (mix and match pre-packaged pairs, thei special "forest" collection series). While definitely on the expensive side, this is one of those times that it was worth it. The thing that stood out besides the sublime quality of the chocolate was how they were trying to be inventive, not in a gimmicky way, but in an exploratory one. They had a couple of "posters" up that explained their process. One talked about the blending if the artistry with math and science (chemistry) to make their chocolates. The other talked about how they drew inspiration from the region to get their flavours. And I'm a sucker for this - I love people who experiment, and I love people who look outwards and try to promote their communities. So Couleur Chocolat, you definitely had me at hello.

The goods: They have several varieties of chocolate on offer: ganaches in different flavours, bars (milk, dark), stuffed bars (i.e. passion fruit ganache) as well as other creative offerings. I purchased a box of 18 + a pack of fruit ganaches, a bar with passion fruit filling + one with yuzu, a milk chocolate bar and Whippets! Well, they reminded me of Whippets - they were two lovely domes of dark chocolate covering raspberry on cookie bottoms. So good! Service: Good. Price point: On par with other good chocolatiers. Look for the sign!…read more The place: First, I'll start by saying that the grounds are immaculate - beautiful green grass, clean area to park your car if you're staying in one of their nine rooms, and the campground looked quite big without the campers being stuck together. You have access to the beach as well, and the owners have a seating area behind the motel so you can just chill out to your heart's desire. I stayed in room #7 with my mom and it was pristine. I've stayed in many hotels and Airbnbs, and none have come close to being as clean as our room was. In addition, the decor was beautiful and the room was spacious. It was super cozy, had a ceiling fan (there is no AC) and a mini fridge. It was obvious that the owners put a lot of thought into the comfort of the room. While the motel is just off the 132, I didn't find it particularly noisy with the windows closed and the ceiling fan on. The goods: In addition to the above, we had breakfast before leaving and we were quite happy we did! Nadia bakes her own bread and makes her own cretons and jams. For $10, you get two big slices of toast, along with cretons and jam + coffee. So first of all, the cretons are phenomenal. Secondly, the strawberry jam and orange marble de f*cking awesome. Thirdly, they had fantastic coffee for a motel. We were stuffed when we finished. As luck would have it, Nadia sells all of the items she makes, so we brought back a loaf of bread, a tub of cretons, strawberry jam and rhubarb jam. My dad has already eaten half the container of rhubarb jam so I am guessing it's good? ;-) Service: Excellent. Seriously, I have been to many different places and Nadia and Simon are the most welcoming, nicest, friendliest hosts you're going to meet. It's obvious that they love what they do and that they have their guests' interests at heart. They are truly dedicated to their business.

We found the accommodations very comfortable, the host welcoming, prices reasonable, a very pleasant stay. At time of this writing (August 2012) the B&B only accepts Visa (not Mastercard) otherwise cash. Wi-Fi is presently available only in a limited area in the dining room near the office (the innkeeper has promised to add more access points soon). Definitely worth a stay if you are in the area. Amazing number of windmills (for power generation) in the area.
