I hired a JP to put in mini splits at my property. He hired out another crew of people who improperly installed them, leaving every single AC unit broken. JP has refused to fix it. I invested almost $6000 in his service and he refuses not only fix it or refund. I reported to the Better Business Bureau and I am now hiring an attorney. read more

ATX Lighting - Lighting Fixtures & Equipment Near Me

Came same day. Fixed problem with ease. Didn't mind me peeking over his shoulder to learn. When fixing we both happened to lean on a shelf and the brackets pulled out of the wall. Not his fault. And yet he insisted over and over again to let me help him fix it. Good guy. read more

Justin was quick and very helpful. He went the extra mile to find the source of my problem so it could be fixed. I'll be sure to call him again if I need electrical work. read more

Justin Pate ("JP") runs ATX Lighting. He doesn't do any of the work nor is he an expert, which makes it hard for him to get the work done right. His business model is to sell easy jobs for journeymen. It seems to be a revolving door of employees. And as far as I can tell, JP never checks the work after it is done. I hired JP in October 2022 for some simple additions of canned lighting and exhaust in my kitchen and bathroom. Total cost was $4600. The work was sloppy, not to code, JP was pushy and short tempered in all our interactions, by Xmas of 2022 the work was only half finished, and half the home without power. In January of 2023 I contacted JP to let him know he still needed to come finish the job, and he laughed at me and told me that whatever I still needed was between me and his worker who had since been fired or quit. Since I had the paperwork and photos to prove that JP had not fulfilled his obligations, I logged a complaint with the app Thumbtack which I had hired ATX Lighting through. Thumbtack restricted his account until he resolved the issue with me. JP denied my complaint, and claimed his work was 100% complete. He also made up a nice story about me threatening him and how he no longer felt safe at my job site. But I had the receipts. By February of 2023, JP began to send friends of his to finish the job, but he never himself came to inspect the previous work or understand what work was still outstanding or in need of repair. After 4 separate trips over the course of the entire month of February, which involved fixing one problem and causing another, these new workers still had not completed the job. So, I finished the work myself. The delays cost me about as much as what I hired ATX Lighting for in the first place. Late in the evening of February 28, JP contacted me demanding I take down my bad review. I told him he hadn't actually fulfilled his end. To that, JP told me "karma is real" and that he would send his friend to collect money for the recent work (of which no money was owed by me--the job having long been paid for in full). So, this morning, March 1 2023, I'm updating my review here to set the record straight. read more

They don't know what they're doing. They were supposed to hook up a generator and two weeks later half of our house had no electricity. They then disappeared not answering calls or texts. Justin is nothing but a lying punk. I called the TDLR. If he has a license he won't for long, STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE!!! read more

Great innovative company. Systems are easy to wire and install. If you are building a home or are an active electrician you should be installing this product. read more

JP and his team incorrectly installed several Mini Splits, and will not warranty their work. Do not hire this company!

They did the AC units for a community house I work for in Round Rock and after charging the owner we tried to use the units and the space and they are not working properly the house is unbearably hot during the day making it impossible to prepare the site for launch. read more

Our team hired JP to install mini splits at our property, investing nearly $6,000 in his services. Instead of completing the work himself, JP subcontracted the installation to another crew who did the job improperly. As a result, every single AC unit is now broken. JP refused to correct the work or issue a refund. We have reported this matter to the Better Business Bureau and are now engaging legal counsel. This was an extremely unprofessional and costly experience, and we cannot recommend his services. read more

Wishing I had seen these reviews before hiring. Like everyone else has confirmed, JP does not know what he's doing and is aggressive and harassing when confronted for any of his poor work (see texts to my girlfriend). JP showed up to hang 2 chandeliers on a 20 ft ceiling. He couldn't do the job alone so I had to help him the whole time he was here, climbing up and down the ladder with him as well. After he left, I noticed 1 of the chandeliers was held up by the wire only, not the chain. He tried to convince us that was the correct way of doing it and the chain was backup. read more

Very disappointing. We used this service to put in mini splits at my property. This was not installed properly with every single AC unit left broken. JP has refused to fix it or refund when I invested almost $6000 in his service. I am now having to take legal action. read more

TLDR: ATX Lighting wired an installation incorrectly and caused additional electrical issues and refused to fix the problem or issue a refund. I DO NOT recommend - stay away if you've experienced electrical issues from the recent ice storm. If I could give 0 stars, I would. We hired ATX Lighting to install a bathroom exhaust fan/light combo at a rental property owned by my mother-in-law. They didn't bother to give her an update or provide proof that the exhaust fan and light were working appropriately or even communicate to her that the installation was complete. Apparently installing an exhaust fan didn't include running the ductwork from the fan to the exhaust outlet in the roof - if we'd have known that, we would've hired a full-service company to install the exhaust fan and duct work. $300 to complete an exhaust fan/light installation + $350 for installing braces for the exhaust fan (literally just nailing in 2 boards into the existing ceiling joists - see pics). JP was super unhelpful and said that everything was working when they left (again they provided no proof or communication to my MIL that everything worked) but somehow was no longer working when I went to check. We had another electrician come to fix what ATX Lighting messed up (see my other reviews for a good electrician) and he found out that ATX Lighting had wired the installation wrong causing additional issues with other lighting in the bathroom and the breaker to continuously trip. read more

Hired for xmas light install. They failed on install and had to come back several times. I uploaded a photo of one of their "professional fixes" they were supposed to take down lights according to my HOA Jan 15th and also advertised 100% money back guarantee bit that doesn't apply as the owner JP said he was not in Austin and due to personal issues he had to shut down his business and wasn't responsible oe didn't care. I happened to be looking for an Appt for my nephew and saw him at a neighborhood Apartment Complex, so him telling me he wasn't in Austin was a total lie. I filed a Better Business Review complaint, have to hire and pay yet another company to take lights down. Don't use this company. read more

ATX Lighting - This was the "fix" extention cord they left in my yard expecting it to work. Open and exposed wires. - Lighting Fixtures & Equipment Near Me

Excellent work and affordable, really fast install too. Great communication. Lights look amazing!

I was very impressed with Justin from ATX Lighting. He arrived on time, was extremely polite, and explained everything clearly. He gave us several options to choose from, which I really appreciated. He did great work and I would definitely recommend him read more

Beware. I'm a single mom and they think it's ok to treat me bad. They came to me and quoted me for 400 to do the job. Before installation was done bumped the price to 750 to finish. When I called complained they said their manager doesn't know what he is saying and he was out of his mind. I was scared to leave electrical outlets unfinished with the small child in the house and had to pay. Didn't validate their work and sent me $50 request on top to check. Communicating very aggressively. Want this kind of experience? Hire them. They do a bad business and mention God when they do it. read more

Had our lighting in our church sanctuary upgraded. Justin was very responsive and on schedule. Happy with their work.

This is are response to the owner on my review since it won't let me post. We were never told this was a "bandaid solution" or presented with any other options or any pricing issues. We were seeking a permanent resolution not some temporary solution so you must have mistaken us with other unhappy customers. We actually hired another company who took one look and determined your work was done incorrectly and causing all the issues. It was quite an easy simple fix and we haven't had a single issue since. read more

Loved that they showed up in a mask! Very friendly crew, professional and great job done! While covid has made it nerve wracking to hire the right crew: Justin, Josh, & James made our experience phenomenal. I highly recommend hiring this team for a full-service job or even a quick electrical repair - they can handle it! efficient, great price, and easy to communicate with. we love our new kitchen lighting!

JP was prompt, communicative and his crew did an excellent job. We requested help on a Sunday through yelp and they completed installation of three large light fixtures from 24 foot ceilings by Friday. The price was reasonable; he underbid the work a bit initially but even with an adjustment I felt it was fair. We would most definitely use them again. Thank you! read more

I had these guys add lights to my backyard and they ended up doing an amazing job! To be honest the first guy they sent first came on the wrong day to the wrong house. When he came back on the right day he spent all day and said he would need more time. I was also not impressed with the work. With that said, I called the owner the next day. He apologized and said he would take care of it himself. When he came by we still had a few bumps in the road but the ended up doing an amazing job in the end! Not seeing power cords was big for me and he made them invisible along with hiding the poles behind the fence (see pictures). It looked great in the end and I couldn't be more happier with the results. Recommend him for your lighting needs. See my pictures for proof. Again, we started on a rough start but the end results make it all worth it. read more

That is actually not true. I called you and you did not say that. I was home all day in my office which is next to the front door. I have two dogs that will bark if anyone is nearby and I also have cameras that do not show you coming to the property. I am glad we did not do business as if you lie and have no integrity to an honest review then you certainly will not in doing the job well. Unfortunate but I encourage you to do some soul searching and know that integrity is fundamental to being a great human and with it your business will grow. read more

Overall very pleased with the outcome of my patio lighting project. I refuse to do business with contractors who don't return phone calls and/or make appointments and never show up. I get it. Your busy. We're all busy. But that doesn't excuse poor customer service. With that said, JP and his company ATX Lighting were very responsive from the beginning. They showed up when they said they would and delivered on all their promises at a fair price. They made sure I was happy with the products and service. I highly recommend this company for your lighting projects. The owner cares and will do what it takes to ensure your satisfaction. read more

I am so happy with my lights in back yard looks absolutely amazing. Thank you Atx lighting.

First off I want to start off this review by saying Justin the owner of ATX lighting seems to be a very nice guy he was always respectful and seemed to be honest and upfront. My reasoning for this rating is because in the very beginning I told Justin that we had a limited amount of funds and I needed to know the total cost upfront. So we agreed on a set amount, I also like to state his guys were good guys, very respectful and professional. So we gave him half of the total amount upfront and agreed to pay the remaining when the project was completed, when they were almost done Justin came back to me and told me I needed to pay for materials now. I told him and reminded him of our discussion and that I thought it was unfair that he was now going to try and charge me for additional cost when we had agreed on a set amount, he stated this is the way it always works and I told him that that's not true. I told him this wasn't my first rodeo, I'm a retired maintenance superintendent and handled many many contracts and never unless you had a submitted change order were you allowed to just pad the end of the bill, but I agreed to pay it. I told him I was disappointed but I wanted to get the job completed, he then proceeded to tell me that he now was not going install the outdoor fan on our open patio because he was offended that I was accusing him of something which I never did, he also stated he didn't want to have to buy a special tool and the special tool that we talk about is just a long extended drill bit. I just can't imagine an electrical contractor doesn't own one of these. His guys had already cut a hole in our ceiling but did not install the brackets or the wire, he did deduct that part off the bill. The only thing I can say if you do business with ATX lighting demand that everything is written out on the invoice. Because I can show you mine and nowhere on the invoice does it state that the price of materials will be added later. read more

Even in the midst of the great freeze of Austin 2021, ATX Lighting was still able to make time within all the hectic and craziness to come out and make the repairs to my system. Sometimes a little communication goes a long way and at the end of it, they handled the situation well and got techs here to get us up and running again. Will definitely recommend to friends and neighbors! read more

Quick response and reasonable price. JP sets the expectations and delivers. Would use them again.

Very responsive and he came out to give us a consultation on work and options. Once we agreed to a plan of action, we scheduled a time, however, once work was scheduled, they arrived late and unprepared for the actual work breaking two pieces of my chandelier and then refusing to do the work as it was too difficult for them to do even after agreeing to them renting the needed equipment to do the work. I requested that my pieces be replaced and all I have received has been excuses for not having replaced them. I wish I could recommend them as they were very responsive at the beginning.o lo read more
